I am sure that my Karma will get dinged here, but I am going to stand up for 91 on this. What is wrong with a teams fans being down after a disappointing game/end of season? Obviously we will be able to look back on this season as a success after some time passes, but yesterday was a tough day for Fisher fans. Weren't AU fans way down last week after they lost to U of R? Didn't we have IC posters have some serious doubts about their team after big losses to Fisher in years past? I don't think anything that 91 is saying is out of line. Yes, SC played great yesterday, but Fisher really did lay an egg in a must win game, and that is difficult to accept at times.
GO FISHER!!!

I understand how you feel 91. I was at the game and I was and am seriously disappointed with the effort from the Fisher D today. Just awful. I am on crutches for a while, and that was a long ride and uncomfortable several hours for that effort.

Yeah, what bothers me is that in the two biggest games of the year they failed to show up in the beginning of the game, failed to make adjustments during the game and failed to make plays when it mattered the most.

If they came out, played well and lost both games it wouldn't sting nearly as much. Honestly how do you allow an average of 48 points (55 and 42) with the playoffs on the line?

The time of possession difference was pathetic, it was 39 to 21.

The offense wasn't much better, allowing 6 sacks and turning it over 4 times.

The offense had a chance to make it a one score game w/ 3 minutes left in the 3rd after a stop on 4th down at midfield.  Fisher's offense goes 3 and out with 3 questionable play calls right in a row followed up by a 17 yard punt (I'd say it was a bad punt but he averaged 21 yards a punt that day and 29 on the year, he was horrible all year).  SC takes the ensuing drive, marches down the field and goes up by 3 TDs.

I really don't mean to start anything, but I've been reading this with some detachment as I don't have a rooting interest in any of the teams involved (headed south in a few hours for a trip to see the REAL AU play Georgia) and it's a little funny that there is absolutely no acknowledgment that there was another team on the field against Fisher.  Again, I wasn't there and wasn't following the game, but my expectation at this level and with what was on the line, adjustments were made and they were countered.  But you guys make it sound like Fisher was the only team with players and coaches (very Yankee-like).  Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other guys.  They kicked your team up and down the field, much like a lot of top ranked teams in D1 yesterday. Think Utah might be disappointed?   It happens.  Doesn't mean it would happen 10 out of 10 times, but give the other team some credit for being better than you at least for a day

Very good points.  But please don't label all of us who live north of the Mason-Dixon as Yankees.  I am a displaced (though I have to admit it's been a long time) southerner who still counts Virginia, even from this distance, as home.  And I hope the "other" AU can hold it's own against a riled Alabama later this year.

Sorry, didn't mean "Yankee" in a Yankee/Rebel sort of way.  Forgot the "fan" part in Yankee-fan-like.  And it would be sweet to roll the Tide in their own house, but 1 game at a time.

Well guys, I think that that Gone With the Wind-esque exchange caps off the most melodramatic day the E8PP has seen in some time.

I laughed, I cried; it became a part of me.  :'(

One thing the Fisher loss did for sure was make the tranistion to basketball season a whole lot easier. I see that Kramer is also listed on the Fisher basketball page. I can't wait to see him play. What a great get for Fisher.
GO FISHER!!!

Just getting my first chance to post after a whirlwind saterday in the E6.  I'm understandably still on cloud nine and my prediction of 7-3 can still come to fruition (though hopefully the Saxons will surpass my preseason expectations).  I remain in my belief that Alfred is a top 40 team that can play as well as a top 20 team.

And for all the vitriol I expended toward the secondary last year, I have to give them credit for coming together and playing very well this year.  Not the most dominant unit in Alfred history, but certainly not our achilles heel either.

As for the game, I felt like both teams were evenly matched.  Outside of the debacle that was a first quarter, the game was played to a draw.  Maybe Clark was in before he was stripped, but I thought it was too close for the Saxons to get the benefit of the doubt.  Ultimately, the real difference between both teams was that extra week of practice that Alfred had over Ithaca last year!

Thanks 91. I saw him play in high school once. I think he was a freshman and he was a stud then. Here is to next year for the football team.
GO FISHER!!!
