Can anyone give me a rundown on how Ithaca drops down one in the ranks when beating brockport 26 to 7, but SJF moves up one with a 27 to 20 score. Could it be the Arrogance of the Ithaca posters that's giving a lot people a sour taste

It had nothing to do with SJF and everything to do with Ohio Northern losing. You can't "analyze" the poll by just looking at one team.

I hope they do, it will make me undefeated for the day!

You know, ER's bantor is one thing because it can be taken as fun and goodwilled but winmag, give me a break.  Your son can take it so you should be able too.  There is no point defending it because the more you do, the worse it gets.  You are doing your son more harm than good because I know that TNbomber dad tried defending me and it brought out more.  I could take it as can your boy.  I am sure he is wonderful as all fathers think of their kids but let it go.  Oh and arrogance costing us poll spots, thats about as original as defending your kid

For all of you that need some ammunition, fuel..whatever...the following is posted on this weeks' Six blog:

   An excerpt from "Cortlandfootball"

Back on topic - I am running a D3 Football computer ratings system. Actually I've been running it for a few decades. It is along the lines of Massey and Sagarin. Design wise it is probably closest to the Laz Index. Anyhoooo...it is screaming at me this morning that the two best teams in the Eastern Region are (drum roll please) Fisher and Ithaca. Not Rowan, Cortland, or Hobart. It also thinks Springfield is right up there with the big boys.

Now I usually don't get too caught up in the ratings for the first few weeks, but by weeks 5 and 6 the system usually has a pretty good handle on things.

It verifies what one poster wrote last week, and Keith echoed earlier, that the Liberty is the most balance conference this season. I'll be shocked if someone runs the table in conference. The E8 ranks out as the most top heavy. The NJAC has improved from the bottom up quite a bit from prior seasons.

Polls are somebody's ranking with whatever logic they use.....the d3 poll is usually most accurate...but it's all an opinion.....

I'd put the Ravens over Indy...barely beating the titans? The colts are not dominant.  The bengals need to be below New England as well after the whooping last week.

Edit:  Of course, Baltimore being at the top of the conference is pending their game tomorrow.....

B27, these guys are even making Sox fans look bad!

PS- as far as SJF guys go I am also a fan of booby. Booby laughs at maxpower's jokes.

And portgrad, please don't say bad things about the Colts, the Colts are an upstanding organization and have never hurt anyone in their life and that'swhy tony dungy recruited these guys because they play for the love of the game and everyone just falls in love with them let's keep it clean ok?

OK, I'll remember that...

<In Robotic tone>  The Colts are the best team.  Peyton Manning is God.

I'm a big proponent of the Peter King "Who Would Win Right Now On A Neutral Field In Wichita" way of ranking teams. I don't care who beat who at their home stadium. Here's how I'd rank 'em.

1) San Diego: Have looked pretty dominant so far. Just gave that Baltimore game away.

2) Indy: Good to see the Colts have finally wisened up and are saving some bullets for the postseason. If you watched that game today, you knew Peyton wasn't worried.

3) Denver: I was impressed with the way they dismantled New England a couple weeks ago. Their defense is tremendous. They should win 12 games rather easily.

4) New England: Tom Brady is pretty amazing. He could be successful with me as a starting WR on that team.

5) Baltimore: I'm sorry, but if anyone watched when they played at Cleveland or watched the first, oh, 52 minutes of the San Diego game, you'll know why I'm ranking them here. I have a feeling Mr. McNair will be exposed tomorrow evening.

6) Cincinnati: Yaawwwwn, call me when they can stop the run consistently. Until then, they're just a fad team that's fun to watch play offense.

7) Jacksonville: Very impressive at home. Not so much on the road. Which Jags team is it going to be? The one that shut down Pittsburgh and Dallas to open the season and followed it up with a good first half at Indy, or the team that got shredded by, of all people, Mark Brunell. This team is an enigma to me. That said, I'm going to bet on them each time they're at home.

8) Pittsburgh: Still a dangerous team. Big Ben has to start playing smarter. What happened to this guy (besides the obvious)? He's like a scary mix between Bledsoe and Eli out there sometimes.

We'll see about Denver.  Their offense doesn't impress me at all just yet.  And against Baltimore, I see another field goal fest on the horizon.

Of course it could turn into Jax vs. Washington and be a wild unexpected shootout!

maninyellowhat

I like Jacksonville.  They've got a couple guys who are dangerous out of the backfield.  San Diego continues to impress me too (congrats on your little win tonight tecmo!).

I would put Denver somewhere in the middle of where gb and tecmo have them.  Shanahan needs to decide on a running back and stick with it for a game, and Jake needs to get back to last year's form.  Folks here are still screaming for Cutler but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Me too, though I didn't know it was Peter King's school. Shoot.

You'd be surprised how much grief people give me for saying such things about our Top 25. :)
