A little birdie told me about the Fisher schedule this year, and I hope it isnt true.
BYE week is at the BEGINNING of the season.
Yep thats right kids, last year it was the last game of the season, this year it looks like the first.

Wow

Are you guys only playing 9 games?  (Sorry if this has been answered already) This schedule appears to indicate that they are, and the byes bookend the season as the first and last weeks are shown as open dates.

hmmm,
guess my birdie told me old news - sorry.
looks like nine to me as well, ill ask the bird to see if there are any other potential games.

Who schedules bye weeks like that- seems like lunacy if you ask me...
Is this a Bob Ward thing?

I also noticed that Hartwick wasnt on there!!

pg04

Hartwick is probably the missing link.  That must be the 10th game, it's just neither team has officially released their schedule yet (I guess?)

pg04

Also, I know there are a bunch of teams that have their first game as the bye.  I'm not sure why it's like this in D3.  I know Brockport has theirs the second week.  Play Ithaca, then bye, then the NJAC Schedule.

fisheralum91

The new look of the E8 means more difficulty scheduling.

If the Bye is scheduled at the beginning of the season, that means the team loses one week of practice.  I believe the NCAA regulates that you can't start so many days prior to your first game.  I think that is why Mount Union almost always schedules their Bye week for Week 2.  Lets them start a week earlier, then has a week off prior to their first conference game.

Yet another piece of brilliance from Bob Ward.
Now we lose a week of practice too?
Is this correct?
Unreal.
Coach Vos has to be going nuts.

Well who is actually in control of making schedules in D3?  I may be dumb for not knowing but I'm legitimately asking the question.

I would think a lot of it has to do with when they can schedule which teams to get a full schedule.  There may not be a legitimate team to schedule in the first week.

Yeah, it's gotta be Fisher and the Wick on the 12th, since the Wick only has eight on the schedule.

Seriously, is anyone happy with the schedules right now? First you have Ithaca's fantastic road trip of awesomeness--which by the way, means there's no homecoming game--now this. It's like they're trying to get us all riled up.

It's Pep's understanding that the Empire 8 schedules the conference games, perhaps a year or two in advance. With the addition of Frostburg State and Salisbury Steak to the conference schedule this year, each E8 team will have SEVEN conference games. After taking the conference schedule (which varies from year-to-year), coaches are left to fill in the gaps by negotiating with other coaches. At least that's Pep's take.

Before the 2009 season, when AU had only nine games scheduled, Pep noticed that AU and Hobart had a common open date and brought it to Coach Murray's attention. Coach Murray contacted Coach Cragg about scheduling a game but apparently Hobart preferred to stick with nine games rather than add another home game.

Scheduling can be quirky. Unless some progress has been made that Pep doesn't know about, the Saxons have a couple open dates for 2012 with just a handful of prospects that don't appear reasonable.

thanks for the update.
saw it in the article in the od the other day.
it is great to see what Blaise is doing with, for and to the UC program.
Like i have said before- he is a class guy and during the season I have told him many times that I wish him all the best except for against Fisher!!!

Just a heads-up to the room -- last I checked, and it has been a couple weeks now, much of the Empire 8 didn't have its schedule posted. What we have is pieced together and may be missing individual games such as the Hartwick one mentioned.

One reason schools don't schedule a game for Week 1 is to save money. It costs a lot to house 100-plus kids an extra week before campus opens.
