I think there definitely will be interesting plays. Of course it's all a matter of opinion.

I suppose interesting is a bad word...I guess things just get repetitive...idk, watching IC run the option was boring at times, and IC actually had a passing game.

Aww come on.  I actually enjoy watching option teams.  Having seen both Salisbury and Springfield at one point of my life, I can't wait to see what happens.

I'm just glad I don't have to announce that game for the radio.  It's tough enough when one offense runs it.  I'd consider entering the booth following six vodka/cranberries as a prep for such an announcing gig.  It would make about as much sense in those conditions!

Whoa, whoa, slow down there Frank. Six vodka cranberries is almost enough to get you drunk!

As an IC alum, I'm very excited for the Salisbury game. Should be a great matchup; that Salisbury offense against a very strong, seasoned group of linebackers. Here's hoping Ithaca's offensive line has gotten better from last year.

To me, the intrigue surrounding Ithaca is whether or not they can sustain the streak of 40 consecutive winning seasons. Looking at the schedule, here's how I see it:

Brockport: Win (Golden Eagles were only voted sixth in the NJAC)
Salisbury: Toss-up, leaning to loss (need to see IC's offense)
Union: Win (Chris Coney's gone, thank goodness)
Hartwick: Win (although The Cage is a tough environment; IC lost there in '07 and got a game from a mediocre Hawks team in '09)
SJF: Loss (Bombers79 and I share the "prove it first" belief)
Springfield: Toss-up, leaning to win (standard logic says the way to stop the option is with skilled linebackers, and IC has that)
Utica: Win (Utica's defense is still a big question mark)
Frostburg: Win (might be a tough first year in the E8 for the Bobcats)
Alfred: Toss-up, leaning to win (on paper, Alfred's probably the better team, but they sure don't travel to the South Hill well)
Cortland: Toss-up, leaning to win (Pitcher and Giuliano are both gone, but IC will need to stop Autera, who had a big sophomore season)

Predictions: Worst-case, 5-5 and the streak ends. Best-case, 9-1, although that'd be some coaching job by Welch and company to win that many toss-up games. I'll say a likely record is somewhere in the neighborhood of 7-3, with anything better than that being a pleasant surprise.

Hello All.  Just a point of clarification:  Pitcher does return as QB for Cortland.  He had eligibility and was granted an 11th academic semester by NCAA.  Good Luck to all.

I'm more worried about Autera than Pitcher. IC completely shut down Cortland's wide receivers last season (6 catches, 40 yards) and I think they can and will do it again. But, it is good for Cortland to have some stability at the QB position.

According to the playoff lineup against Alfred, Cortland returns 7 of 11 offensive starters: 4/5ths of the line, the QB, RB, and FB, and 6 of 11 defensive starters.

If IC had lost the jug that year then it would have been the first time the jug would have swapped hands in August.

Any word on who the player was?
I believe it was one of their linebackers.

In our voter info sheet, it shows Cortland with 8 O, 5 D and 2 kickers returning.  Normally, these numbers are provided by and/or verified by the SID or coach of each school.

Well I think Bombers was charitably assuming everyone on Cortland remained academically eligible :D.

I guess that puts him on the 5 1/2 year program.   ;D NJAC picks coming soon.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Thanks for the clarification. I saw that he was a grad student last year and assumed he'd run out of eligibility.

The discrepancy may be that Bill Smith FB/LB started on both sides of the ball.  Not sure if that will continue this year.  I think he will play LB  primarily.

We lost Ammirati, OL; Giuliano, WR; Spillett, TE.  Younger Pitcher was lost to injury on the OL midway through season and will return to OL. I think we also have an experienced TE back this year who was not on last years roster.  One might argue that we lost only 1.  That said...we need receivers!!!!

When do/did camps officially start for this season?
