Wow.  So great to be this close to kickoff!! Kaz, when is AU's scrimmage on saterday?

1pm at Brockport.  I presume that means next year Port will come down to Mayberry for a scrimmage similar to our home-and-home scrimmages with Susquehanna the past 2 years.

Since I went there I've always desired an Alfred-Port matchup in the regular season, this may be as close as we get for now, although I still wish they were part of the group going to the E8!

All AU faithful.  I was just browsing the Brockport Athletics website.  The defensive coordinator is Rashaan Jordan of AU fame.  My most vivid memory of him was in '93 when our current AD was head coach and Rashaan was the starting tailback and he nailed a looong run for a touchdown at Merrill Field against Ithaca to seal a 30-20 victory.  Boy that was one hell of a game. I'll bet you were there Pep!!  I hadn't thought about that game for a long time.

Interesting observation, Saxontad. Went to the Brockport site....first name that rung a bell was Jason Mangone, the offensive coordinator. Couldn't remember why. It says, "Mangone played two years at Alfred before transferring to Brockport in 1997. He became the starting quarterback in 1997 and also started in 1998, setting season records for completion percentage and efficiency rating in his first season at Brockport. He received the Offensive Player of the Year Award in 1998, and Rookie of the Year honors in 1997 with Brockport. He was also the rookie of the year at Alfred in 1995. Mangone received his B.S. in physical education from The College at Brockport in 2000."

Pep remembers the Saxons' 30-20 win over Ithaca in 1993 at Merrill Field but doesn't remember Rashaan Jordan's return. That game was the highlight of a dismal 4-6 season that included a 33-31 loss to Frostburg State (which was a very good team) when, Pep believes, Max Freeman had four TD runs, and a 14-7 loss to Brockport.

Hey Tad, congrats on the 200th post! +K

I was going to say yes, then you put a sentence in all caps

This new setup and color scheme is tripping me out.

Can't wait for the season to start...makes me sad that Fisher has a week 1 bye week though.  How dare they make me wait.

Seems I was misinformed on the start time.  5pm is the actual start time and that's gonna be a deal breaker in the Kaz00 family.  Bummer.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

I was not going to be able to make the scrimmage anyway as it turned out.  But I will be at Merrill for RPI in two weeks.  Can't wait!!

On Saxon Warriors!!

Good morning all,
Any news about the AU scrimmage??

On Saxon Warriors!!

I had to travel to Rochester for work again this last week, and was able to drop in on Fisher's practice to see how the team looked. I noticed a few things. Kramer was wearing a yellow jersey with the other QB's, but did not seem to be taking the snaps with the first team. I can't imagine he is not going to be on the field, so I would imagine he is playing at QB for Fisher this year.

The new O line did look like they had some size, but Fisher was basically running a walk through while I was there, so it was hard to see what type of unit they will have up front. As has been documented on this site many times, Fisher's season will come down to the O-Line play. Fisher has some playmakers that can hopefully take some pressure off the line. Fisher has had success in the past with replacing linemen, but this is a tall order this year.

This may have been discussed on the board, but is Fisher srimmaging anyone (Morrisville?) this year?
GO FISHER!!!

1.Fisher pretty much killed the Gold color from the uniforms- Heard they Went with White Helmets with Cardinal Logo on them over the solid Gold.

Fisher was wearing the new jersey's on Wednesday at practice. The new home uniforms look just like the away uniforms, just with the opposite color scheme. Did not see any helmets, but I think it would be a bad decision to take away the gold helmets. I was thinking the new uni's would look like the Fisher kits from when I was in school. All Maroon with a gold helmet.
GO FISHER!!!

Wait.....Cards- Im confused--Is Kramer going to be the QB or not?  Are the Unis white or Red?

dlippiel

Mirroring what was already said, dlip can't imagine that Kramer would be kept off the field for almost any snaps this season. If he is wearing th yellow jersey dlip would think, hope, that he is going to be the starting QB. If not the starting QB then the starting something...

That was my thought. I did notice that someone else (I don't know who) was taking snaps with the first team, but Kramer was wearing a yellow jersey, and standing with all of the other QB's during practice. I would assume he is the top choice at QB for Fisher this year. A great option IMHO.

The home uniforms were all maroon with white numbers and a white strip on each shoulder. If you saw the away uniforms from last year, just imagine the exact opposite. Did not see the helmets however.
GO FISHER!!!
