hsctiger74, apology not needed.  I am aware that sometimes I may not word my opinion correctly and sometimes it comes across a bit strong.  I will tell it like I see(saw) it and am glad to discuss any differing of opinion.  I try not to be rude but sometimes it happens.  Several of those on the NWC board are just purposefully ignorant and in my opinion that is the worst kind.  In the end I will continue to say it as I see it and go from their.

pg04, I agree with the unnecessary attacking of some of the hardest working and nicest kids that we met in the years that my son played, those from the Apprentice school.  Some on the NWC board could only hope to aspire to be a good as those kids.

Stay out of trouble. I see you took a Karma hit. Here it comes back. I'm still waiting for a response to my post of (2) weeks ago.  ;) Think I have a chance. ::)
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

I think everything they are doing is against the spirit of Division III.  There's no need to be so vitriolic.  To be honest a lot of them seem like they need to get another hobby in life...

The level of douchebaggery is unreal with that crew, at least the Mount crew was respectful with their smack talk...

Whenever I go to the NWC board I feel like Im on a D1 message board. Definently different from the rest of the d3 boards.

Has anyone got any information on what DVC does as a football team? I have not looked into anything about this team (sick son at home, and a tough week at work). What type of offense/defense do they run? Star players? Do they rely on outscoring people, etc?

Any help would be appreciated.
GO FISHER!!!

sjf, I will give you my take.  They are young on offense, but the Fresh? QB has done a nice job this year and the Soph RB is pretty good.  Del Val relies more on the defense and they are pretty good.  They don't try to outscore people, but look to take advantage of the opponents mistakes.  I saw them handle Leb Val pretty easily and they have scored points in the last couple of games, but that is not normal.  If Fisher makes mistakes they could get blown out.  They also have a speedy receiver who they occasionally run the wildcat with.  Having seen both teams play I think that Del Val is slightly better than Fisher if Kramer plays and clearly better if he does not.  The Fisher d will have to keep Del Val in check and if both teams play a clean game this will be a good one.  I have not made my pick yet, but I am leaning to Del Val.  Would love to see the game, but I have an engagement in Dover this weekend.

sjf,

I believe Delaware Valley does a great job exploiting the other team weaknesses. If your defense is weak in some particular category, Delaware Valley will definitely go straight to that weak link. From personal experience playing against the coaching staff, I have seen their offense run various offensive schemes; they can throw the ball effectively if they choose or on some occasions can line up and run it down your throat. Delaware Valley has always been very successful against stopping the run. However, if I had to choose a weakness for their defense, I would say try to create one on one matchups on the sideline. Yet, if you get to the red zone and do not have a good wide receiver that can catch a fade pattern, then throwing in the red zone can become very troublesome. If St. John Fisher can bring a balance approach, both offensively and defensively, I think they have a good chance.

As far as whom I am choosing, it is still early, but as wesleydad stated above, I am leaning towards Delaware Valley, especially because that freshmen quarterback has been stellar all season and has been battled tested in Delaware Valley last two season games.

I have to ask..what's with the interest in the NWC board? Is there some connection/beef that the E8 has with Linfield?

I expected more talk about the two E8 playoff games this weekend.

IF Whitewater and Salisbury takes care of business this weekend, anyone here making the trip to Wisconsin?

Best of luck to both Salisbury and SJF.

Saint Fisher.....hmmm, that's a new one.

I think the NCAA needs to send out a memo on team names and Acronymns if they are going to be so bold in the future with all this cross-regional play-off competition.

highly doubt that will happen....
DVC has only blown out very weak and one good (at best) team this year.  They have crushed teams that lost to Hartwick by 20.  They have crushed a team that is a first year program.  They win by 1 pt twice and avg 21 pts per game against the average competition they played.

Fisher has been "blown out" only 3 times in the past 9 years by a team not named MUC.  Twice it was the option attack of Chris Sharpe and/or SC, and once this year by Hobart...with no explanation.

I do not necessarily consider the Salisbury game a blow-out, as Fisher clearly was able to move the ball all game, and SU then did a great job of forcing stops and TO's in the red zone, and SJF defense played decent save a few big time lapses.

DVC cannot kick or punt. In 2004, they outgained SJF by over 400 yds and still had to score 2 TD's in the last 2 minutes to eke out the win.

I believe this will be a close game (win or lose) at worst for SJF, and a 14-20pt win at best.

....with or w/o Kramer.

+K Lol, me too.

SJFF82, please use the entire sentence when you are going to disagree.  If they make mistakes they could get blown out, I did not say they will.  You can look at all the other scores and go with averages and such.  I saw Del Val play Leb Valley and they blew them out.  The score is not indicative as to how much they won the game by, it was never in doubt.  I have stated previously that I like what I saw from Fisher in the score blow out against Salisbury.  I agree that the game was closer than it looks, that is why I dont go by scores much.  Some games just get out of hand and are no indication of a teams ability.  If Kramer does not play I think Fisher has trouble scoring more than 17 - 20.  I think Del Val gets that much at least.  I have no dog in this fight and like both teams, but anyone can get blown out if they play a sloppy game.

fair enough...I did think about just that when I 'highlighted' the part I did....nonetheless, I fairly believe that SJF (mistakes included) will at worst lose a close game, as in such a scenario, DVC will make its share of mistakes as well...I believe they have fumbled 30+ times this year and their kicking game is suspect at best.

Generally when teams of relatively equal strength play, if one plays sloppy, both will.  Its usually only when one team is far superior to the other that mistakes get magnified and result in a blow-out.

Of course, SJF could self-destruct and get blown out, but that is like claiming that MUC could lose a game (other than to UWW) by prefacing that it could happen if they play sloppy and turn the ball over numerous times.  MUC doesnt lose so I would argue it aint going to happen.  SJF typically doesnt get blown out, so I will go with: it aint going to happen, depite your premise.

BTW...go back to the NWC Boards and give 'em hell.... ;)

E8 related predictions for SatErday;

Kean: 28
Salisbury: 40

Kean keeps it close into the 4th but Salisbury pulls away late by going to the air with Kean stacking guys in the box.

SJF: 24
DVC: 30

Another ridiculous finish in Doylestown, PA.  Fisher will score to tie it at 24 with 2:00 left with a 48 yard bomb to Ryan Francis from Hassanien, however the heartbreak will continue as DVC scores a TD on a 20 yard scramble by their QB with 8 seconds left to win.
