82 and 82jr have made it back to Rochester....win #10 in hand!

Random thoughts on game and DVC...

As Gordonmann stated....SJF was much bigger and physical

SJF started quick and showed their potential for this game to be over early....but turnovers and blocked FG stalled their 1st 2 drives.

The DVC QB is good....man he owned that pocket for most of 1st half and SJF had zero pressure

Absolute turning pt....1 play....after 2 straight drives by DVC that resulted in TD's and SJF having not yet touched the QB, as 1st half was closing and DVC was driving for go-ahead score, our dline finally broke through, but the QB scrambled for decent gain....

....But that was all it took, because QB was never same after that 1 pressure....he threw int very next play to end the half and we went in with 17-14 lead BUT more importantly...the MOMENTUM.

Second half....our defense was in QB's kitchen almost every play and at one point they just stopped even trying to throw down field....they completed 5-6 passes in a couple series, but they were all screen and dump passes behind the line....

We kept in his face and he kept throwing the pick.

I see DVC led in most stat categories, but absolutely no sign of that really on the field....they had those 2 solid second quarter drives, and a couple late desperation drives and that is it.

The real stat is one not on paper...the physical play was 85%-15% in Fisher's favor and DVC's decent athletes on offense eventually just got manhandled.

I remember wondering whther this was even a .500 ball club about 6-7 weeks ago, and quite frankly they dont have a top flight offense to make you think they are a 10 win team, but this defense and their overall physical play, including the o-line make them a threat to keep this thing going...

Great special teams and Cody Miller at RB is shaping up nice!!!

Unfinished business from 2004......FINISHED!

CARDINALS!!!!

Is anyone making the trip out to St. Thomas?

ah man would I love to....lets see, I got home 2nite to a sleeping wife who watched the 3 girls over the better part of the last 36 hrs while I was 'livin' it up in Doylestown.....

....as soon as she wakes up in the am, I will hand her my Minnesota itinerary.... ;)

I'm thinkin its only about a 10% at best chance...

Glad ya got back safe 82.
Get a load of the St. T nitwits on the west page.
Wow.
At least the UMU faithful were gracious when beating the tar out of someone.
Im not a big fan. Here is hoping that they eat some crow SatErday!

fisheralum91, maybe it is just the west posters in general.  Linfield's were way over the top.  UWW has some of the most ignorant and now you say that the ST T people are over the top.  Will have to venture over and see what they are saying, you know they have won so much that they have that right, oh thats right I dont think they have ever made it out of the quarters.

Congratulations to the E8... "2 E8 N E8"   :)

Yeah I was hoping to talk some football but whatever...

It will be interesting to see how our running game does as they only allow 1.5 yds per carry...

St Thomas has a bigger more physical team than the Cards have faced against JHU and DVC.  Here is a highlight clip of the win over Monmouth.  Their two offensive weapons are WR #4 and RB#37, they are not very big but appear to be very quick.  Monmouth does not have the D that Fisher will bring to Minnesota.

Go Cards!!

I gotta tell you, even though we got beat in our ventures to Alliance, one thing would always ring true- the UMU faithful were for th most part classy.
They win all the time and they love it but dont rub your nose in it.
UWW and the ST T fans....not so much.
Act like ya been there!

nice highlights, thanks for posting.  Monmouth has never been accused of having a stellar defense so watching a running back do what #37 did wouldn't worry me.  The kickoff return is always an issue and Fisher will have to make sure that doesn't happen.  If small and quick is what they bring than Fisher will certainly have a chance because that is what Linfield has and they were beat down half way through the 3rd quarter.  If Fisher plays physical and sticks to the game plan, no turnovers and they certainly can win the game.  If Kramer is healthy do they go back to him at QB or stick with the back up and let Kramer play RB, could that make the offense tougher to defend?

Well at least the Cardinals have played the likes of UMU, the tommies never have.

St Thomas has very few weaknesses.  Last eight games they've given up an average of five points per game. Outrushed Monmouth 389 to 4.  They are not small. They are big and fast and they wear you down. Great special teams also.

fisheralum91

c dog... I think you forgot to ask anybody if they cared?

cdog1234

My bad. I thought this was a spot to discuss East Region football. Anyhow, possible St. Thomas shortcomings. Quarterback play sometimes uneven. Pass defense. Untested in tight games.

fisheralum91

No- C dog you are right.
Perhaps a few of us are gun shy after getting blasted by a few of your bretheren..
Sorry

Fisher fans, looking at the St. Thomas schedule it does not look like they played more than 1 or 2 good teams.  Bethel is a solid program and that game looked rather even.  The usual MIAC power St. Johns is way off this year.  Fisher is likely the best team they have played all year.  I am not sure about Bethel's size or physicallity but they are not likely any bigger or more physical than Fisher.  Stats are easily misleading and I think that the Tommies' may be.  From an early, quick look at things I think Fisher has a good chance of winning this game.  The weather could always play a part in the game since it is in Minnesota.  Unless you guys are afraid to go play them based on their posters unbiased opinions about how good they are.

I am not real familiar with the MIAC but I was thinking along the same lines.  I think St. Thomas is bigger than JHU and DVC but I think Fisher has a good chance to advance if they play a clean game.  Turnovers and penalties get harder to overcome the deeper you go into the playoffs.
