Looking like they'll be 1-4 at least to start out. But yes it is very impressive. Having the E8 schedule and adding UWW, along with the two in-state rivals is about a 10.0 on the schedule scale.

Pep is hoping the Bengals go out to Perkins Stadium and knock off the Warhawks. They'll be sky high when they return to Coyer Field to face Pep's Saxons...and if AU's traveling Saxons win, that would be very impressive, indeed.  ;)

Seriously, though, Boyes is making a statement by scheduling Whitewater. He's en route to returning the Bengal program to its previous powerful place as a perennial playoff participant. (Say that into a hot mic without popping your "P"s.)

Oh yea, that's great for everyone involved.  It also gives a big FU to all these crybabies that can't won't fill a 10 game schedule.  I'm actually willing to write Buff St a small check for financing that trip.  Good for them, and welcome to the E8.

Fixed.

Buff State's been doing this for years. Look at 2001. Multiple non-D3 schools. 11-2 Rowan. 11-2 Ithaca. 9-2 Montclair. 9-2 Brockport State. Washington & Jefferson, who is always good. That's probably one of the toughest schedules of the 2000's, period. They've always played anyone, anywhere, and should be applauded, unlike the teams that play a bunch of nobodies OOC.

I do hope, however, that they don't bite off more than they can chew. This is one of the things that led to them struggling so much for so long. Just brutal, unforgiving schedules each year. I'm confident Boyes can get them over the dregs of the conference right away. I just don't want to see them going 1-9, 2-8 every year. I like it when Buffalo State is good, even though it means Ithaca rarely beats them (even when the Bombers are good)

I think this is different because it is a plane trip with extra expenses.  Many teams would just settle for the 9 game schedule.  Buff State would at least find a d2 school to play if they had to.

It also helps UWW, I think. Don't the UW schools have difficulty filling schedules too? (I think, correct me if I'm horribly wrong, please)

I compare this move by Buff State to Fisher setting up the home and home with UMU.
It is a good move.
Some argued that the beatings that Fisher took did more harm than good- I couldnt disagree more.

dlippiel

To dlip, there is no question that this is a good thing. If you have a coach who is completely focused on bring ing the program up to respectability this is one way to do it. Dlip feels this can help with recruiting and overall interest in the program. It also puts to rest any talk of ducking anyone and can give players pride and confidence. People always say to be the best you must beat the best, this type of scheduling may just get the Bengals to where they want to be. Of course not this year, and/or the next, but in the future. With that being said: U-Dub: 56 Bengals: 9

I think I'll wait until I see how they do in the first two games before making a prediction  :P

They definitely have trouble, yes.

They definitely have trouble, yes.

So when does the agreement between the WIAC schools actually end, in regards to each teams playing a conference opponenent twice? Or is this something the conference officials decide sometime in the spring?

fisheralum91

Can sombody give me the skinny on what the E8 is going to look like next year?
Bport comes in, but does Frostburg and SU leave?

I would have to say that the CAC Football conference wouldn't become official until CNU contract ends with USA South. I believe this is in 2015. Until then I would indicate that both Salisbury and Frostburg would stay. I believe over the next couple years, there is going to be more conference shuffling going on, especially in the E8, NJAC, and CAC.

Also, there is a chance that the CAC may become football only affiliates with some other conferences.

fisheralum91

The CAC will have seven full member institutions in the 2012-13 academic year. The additions of CNU and Southern Virginia will increase membership to nine for the 2013-14 academic year, joining Frostburg State, Marymount, Mary Washington, Salisbury, St. Mary's (Md.), Wesley and York (Pa.). Although CNU will continue to play football in the USA South for the next two seasons, the addition of the two schools will give the CAC five schools which play football. Seven are needed for an automatic bid.

The current "in conference/non-conference" game mandate will end following the 2012 season.

Bleedpurple agrees with Dlip (hey, this is kind of fun).  UW-W took the same approach, scheduling Mount Union in both 2002 and 2003.  Many people around UW-W talk about scheduling Mount Union as one of the key components of the current Stagg Bowl run that began in 2007.
