As far as the Brockport game? Some on campus have said that our kids were looking forward to the WW game and looked past Brockport. I personally don't buy that but it has been said!

Hopefully, they're not looking ahead to the Salisbury game, they may be thinking, we can knock off two top 10 teams in less than three weeks (if so, they definitely move into the top 8), which may result in them taking another "L" to a Alfred team based on the last three weeks, they should beat. Speaking of Alred, hopefully they show up to this years Empire 8 newcomer, because last year against Salisbury, I was expecting way way way more from them.

I too hope that they are not looking past Alfred. As tha father of 6 children, who are 23 yrs old..and older, I am reminded that these are kids (18-22 years old kids) playing football. This week, and last , have been full of distractions! I'm hoping that my beloved BENGALS are focused on Saturdays opponent. Nothing more...and certainly nothing less!

I definitely don't think this is true. I've watched both teams' games and it seemed like Buffalo was putting their full effort in. I'm not saying Brockport is great and think they could very easily get beaten this week by Kean, it's just that sort of attitude is kind of a slap in the face of the efforts of the Golden Eagles early in the season.

If you took my comments to be "a slap in the face" to Brockport then please accept my apologies. I attempted to answer HScoach questions about which team is real at Buff State?! In looking at their body of work so far and being on campus weekly, I thought that his question(s) ( i.e. "was the WW a highlight that will be wasted on a 6/4, 7/3 season")...and these boards, offered me an opportunity to address those questions about our expectations. Those expectations are built on the body of work that they have developed so far, and from learning from their mistakes in those 3 games.

What some have said, including players and staff, about possibly looking past Brockport ( an "arch-rival" who the BENGALS had scored 107 points on in the past 2 seasons - both wins) was givin as a "reason" why some felt the BENGALS didn't perform as well as expected! I didn't agree ( as I stated earlier) but then I don't play football for Buff State and don't profess to know what those kids are thinking 7/8 days before facing the D3 champ on it's home turf! Only what they tell me!

A loss to Brockport 1 week and then beat #1 WW the next?? At best 1 can assume that Brockport is better than both teams. Certainly bested my beloved BENGALS this season! But "slapping a team in the face" is not my make-up. Never has been and never will be (as any of my previous posts can attest too)! If anyone else has felt my comments were derogatory towards Brockport let me also apologize ahead of time...before being accused of such!

My hope is that we will see Brockport again on the gridiron this season! Their basketball team has sent my beloved BENGALS home for good, in 2 of the past 4 seasons, in SUNYAC. And I was courtside for both! >:( .

I was just saying if that attitude existed on the campus it was kind of a slap in the face, not that you held that view.

Yanks-best of luck....It will be intersting- thats a fact.
Every year it is something new.

What's the weather forecast for Rachacha?  Will mud impact either team?

It should be interesting to see if there is a hangover from UWW for Buff State. All week they would have been hearing how great they are, and looking back on the big win. I am sure Boyes has his team focused, and they will be ready, but big wins can turn out to hurt teams every now and again.

I will go this way for the weekend:

Buff State 31
Alfred U 17

IC 17
Frostburg 24

Fisher 28
Hartwick 21

Boyes' Boys are a team of destiny, right down to their appropriately named QB!

I think Buff State loses at least twice more, and once to a team they have no business losing to. Why? It has nothing to do with a lack of belief in Jerry Boyes—as an IC fan who watched Buffalo State whip the Bombers for half a decade, that's not possible—but a belief that the Bengals' cover is blown. This is possibly a theory I've over-thought, but whatever.

I think Boyes' teams always function better as a underdog. I think there's a reason this team won their first NCAA playoff game on the road against the defending NCAA champion, and then went 1-7 in their next eight NCAA playoff games. Once that IC win happened, who was going to take Boyes' lightly again? The Bengals would win games because they were good, but not because they were going to sneak up on people.

The question is: How good is this Buffalo State team? Because Cortland was one thing, but there's no way they're sneaking up on anyone now. And there are still some question marks about this squad both offensively (No real running game to speak of) and defensively (only two sacks so far, allowing 422 yards a game, overly reliant on turnovers) I'm not saying the team isn't better—I thought they were slightly underrated heading into the year—but they still haven't played the two best teams in the E8 yet.

If anyone can get them ready it is Boyes. It always blows my mind how much the right coach can change a program at the D3 level. I can remember the old Buff State teams that were really good, and they look to have something going again. In between, not so much.

I agree with Bombers 798891.  The Buff passing v the AU pass D is big (which includes pressuring the QB).  Alternatively, can the AU use their rushing game to control the Time of Possesion to keep Buff off the field?
