OMG., AMAZING, AWESOME.

Okay, heading back to the fast approaching football season, a few more annoying words, particularly on Post Patterns:

HUGE.....BLAZING SPEED....Bigger, Faster, Stronger....

On Saxon Warriors!

Point of order: HUGE and blazing speed are technical terms necessary for discussing D1-quality players who deign to bless us with their presence in D3.

It's science.

I'm surprised Pat hasn't chimed in with "legendary".

He was the finest player I ever seen. Pound for pound the best football player I ever shared the field with. He had blazing speed, and was bigger, faster, and stronger than most D1 players. He could have played D1, but he wanted the quality education of a D3 school. The kid was HUGE. Did I mention he had blazing speed? His blazing speed was legendary.

He must have played for Salve Regina, who was vastly underrated and could have beaten Mount Union.

Pep has been pleased to see football players on Merrill Field last week and this week...high school teams participating in Coach Dave Murray's Gridiron Champions Football Camp. Will be more pleased when the Saxons arrive for camp in a month.

BTW, have you ordered this website's KICK-OFF yet?

Pepe, I've got the itch, too. That's Mayberry in July, I guess.  I actually spent time today working on my ERFP top 10, but Pep knew that since I texted it to him immediately.  Oh, and of course I'm also eagerly awaiting Kickoff '13.

I noticed Alfred has no home night games this year. Is that unusual ? Is there a reason ? Montclair is kinda too far(for them) to have one. But the others are mostly from NY state.

AU has gotten away from night games. Heck, in Alfred, they often must turn on the lights for the afternoon games, because, as you perhaps did not know, in Alfred the SUN comes out once a week....and that's usually Thursday.

Alfred University, early in its history, out of deference to the majority of Sabbath keepers (scripturally sundown Friday to sundown Saturday), played all of its home football games on Saturday nights, usually with kickoff at 8 p.m. You see, Alfred was founded by Seventh Day Baptists and at one time had the only post office in the nation that was closed on Saturdays and delivered mail on Sundays. So in Mayberry, the whole town, following a Sabbath rest, came out to support the Saxons!

Pep is unsure whether the lack of night games at Merrill Field is a conscious decision, a matter of scheduling, or a matter of preference. Scheduling night games late in the season can be a bit nippy at this elevation. Merrill Field is also home to women's and men's soccer and often hosts night soccer games, many on Saturdays following football games.

Pep will inquire.

Get the fight song ready....and stay tuned!

I just had a conversation with an Elmira College alum who was recently told by their AD that her final three big projects before retirement were getting field turf installed and starting baseball and football teams.

That would be great for the school. Any idea on the outlook of those projects, 3-Year, 5-Year, or 10-Year Plan?
