I realize that I expressed an unpopular opinion, but I don't think I said anything inflammatory.
No matter. At this point we've whipped the horse pretty well.

Punishments are only a part of how the criminal justice system deals with crimes like drunk driving.  An "attempt" to commit a crime almost always brings the same penalties as the crime itself, simply because of the mindset and intent of the offender.  Now drunk driving doesn't have the "intent" factor as at attempted murder might, as people don't intend to kill anyone when they get behind the wheel over the legal limit, but the negligence and wanton disregard for public safety is the issue for crimes like drunk driving.  If we simply assessed punishments for the damage they caused, then shooting at someone and missing (attempted murder or Assault with a deadly weapon) wouldn't be a crime.

In my opinion the bottom line is that we should have a moral obligation to our fellow citizens that we won't endanger them by driving drunk.

In the end, drunk driving is almost always a misdemeanor, and people rarely do jail time for 1st offense (or often times 2nd or 3rd offense).  But this guy is a coach, and he is supposed to set an example for students and kids.  If he was an accountant for Arthur Anderson, he would still have his job and no one would notice.  Teachers and coaches usually don't get second chances in the workplace when it comes to crimes like drunk driving and drug offenses.

Another point of question, would be speeding cameras. If they were designed to prevent people from speeding, why do they actually try to conceal the cameras (i.e behind large trees). It appears they want to catch people speeding, but in all honestly is just another revenue making tool.

Speeding cameras are not intended to prevent people from speeding that day, they are intended to record offenders speeding.

Speed boards on the other hand (those big things which say "your speed:" are intended to remind people to slow down.

If it is just recording, why do they penalize. However, I think the speed boards on the otherhand are doing the recording to set up for eventual speed limit increases/decreases or camera set ups.

Well it depends on the camera.  But it basically does what a human being could do (cop detecting speed, pulling you over, issuing a citation).  If it is accurate and people know about them, the theory is that people will slow down.  The other purpose is to take habitual offenders off the road.  There are also some areas which are impractical for an officer to monitor traffic and are unsafe to "pull over" another car.

IMHO,

I think that the game between St. John Fisher and Hobart would actually be closer than most people think. Not discarding that Hobart has the potential to be really good (really good), but with certain adjustments this year that St. John Fisher made in the off season, it could be close. Even with SJF losing a good amount of their secondary. Hobart will be more of a run first team, which may play into SJF favor. Nevertheless, Hobart has a good chance growing into a well-balanced team on offense and we all know that the Defense is going to be stout.

If I had to choose a winner today. I'd say Hobart 31 SJF 23, not the shallacking a couple years ago.

Things can always change on a dime from year to year.  Ask the 2011 Fisher team that lost to Hobart by 36 a year after beating them by 20.  That was the first time Fisher lost to Hobart in a decade I think and boy did they go down in flames.

I'm very interested to see Fisher this year.  Can't wait really.  I'm not going to say they are the best team in the region or anything but I doubt there will be an eastern team that is capable of laying that kind of beat down against them.  I also think a matchup against Hobart would be a very competitive one.

I'm so excited that we will have a traditional QB playing the position this year!  God bless Kramer and all but the dude had a ceiling as a quarterback.  Our defense was top 20 in the nation last year and I think our offense was outside of the top 100.

Boob- Ill join you with the excitement!
This year has endless possibilities.
The only thing that gives me the willies is if the OLine doesn't give Fenti enough time.....

I am also really excited to see what Fisher does this year. The switch back to a traditional offense adds so much to the overall offense that I don't think it can be understated. For all the bad that we have talked about with Fenti, no one has ever said he has a weak arm. The ability to throw the ball down field should open up holes for Kramer and Miller running the ball. I love Miller as a RB, but Kramer is a much more dynamic option and adds the ability to make people miss. Defenses have to account for him as a back, receiver, and can not throw out the option of him throwing so it gives teams so much more to prepare for.

Last year, I thought Kramer was fine at QB, but as you said he was limited. Teams could stack the box and dare Fisher to beat them in the air. I think the Buff State game is a perfect example of where that worked last year, and Fisher could not adjust. That is also a game that I don't think Fisher loses this year.

The defense looked good in the scrimmage and with how good they were last year, there has to be some depth there. Also, Bryant Moore was dinged up last year. He has a ton of athletic ability, and will be healthy. Add the transfer from Mount Union and I think the secondary will be fine.

I don't think Fisher is the best team in the region, but would not be surprised if they are better than a lot of people think. Could they beat Hobart? The beatdown Hobart gave them last time is still too much for me, so I would say no, but I think Fisher would be one of the tougher teams Hobart would see this year.
GO FISHER!!!

Well as long as I am not standing alone...Fisher 57 Hobart -3

It is a fun game to play these fictional games out. How about two quality teams from the past, like who wins between the 2006 Fisher team and the 2001 Ithaca team?
GO FISHER!!!

While this is true, we didn't play you guys since 2003 (you beat a decent Hobart team, 6-4, but stomping of regional/pod champ RPI), so you we're technically 3-0 from 2002-2010 (we won in 2001 and I believe every year in the late 90's when I played and both programs were very different and not comparable).  Pretty much off the schedule since the formalization of the LL and E8 back in 2004.

That 2010 game was brutal in that it was our home opener on the new field, and while Hobart had their worst year since 1999 in 2010, you had to know if Hobart won in 2011 it wasn't going to be a close one.  But, you guys came back, got into the field and had a nice run in the playoffs, which I'm sure meant more than that game.

This year, who knows.  I'd expect Fisher to bounce back, but I also expect Hobart's defense to be better than last years.  We really didn't lose that much and the guys we lost are, honestly, replaceable assuming Devin Worthington is fully healthy after his injury early in the St Thomas playoff game.  The offense has to replace Strang at QB and Woodard at WR, but word out of Geneva is that Pat Conlan (Shane's kid) is a significantly better thrower and athlete than Strang was if not as big (Strang was 6'4", 225, Conlan is 6'1" 195).  We also have a Jr TE, Berkowitz who is a big athletic kid that came on the last few weeks of last year, so the offense will be a little more Webb and the talented FB's (Ellis & Holoman), Berkowitz with a pretty veteran deep threat in Yosh Karbowniczak, but I don't know how much intermediate passing to the WR's will happen.  The biggest loss for Hobart is Scott Yoder.  Great guy who played in my day and had been with the program for more than a decade.
