Cortaca Jug ticket information now posted on the SUNY Cortland web site. Here's the link.

Maybe this year at Cortland, the end zone bleachers will be full instead of completely empty like 2004.

Maybe those knuckleheads should have built big stands on both sides too.

Anyway, if I have a problem getting tickets over the phone Im gonna be pissed.

or just carved a stadium into the side of a mountain...  I love Butterfield's unique look, but I always thought the fan base (led by the FDC) could impact the opposition better if they were at field level and all the yelling wasn't going up into the cloudy skies

I never understood the tiny visitor side bleachers at the Stadium Complex. I really like the main grandstand and the unbelievable press box. That press box is my favorite in the NJAC and in the region hands down. But, the opposing side stands and the area past the end zones are just too small. If they'd put a track around the field, that would've helped matters a lot. You have the track there, and people can ring the field either standing or in the bleachers, like at Butterfield Stadium or Davis Field. Hell, for old time's sake, they should move the game over to Davis.

But, without the track and the two buildings that are on either side of the playing surface, there's not a lot of space to put portable bleachers. Well, there are bleachers placed behind the chain link fence in front of the Chugger Davis building, but for some reason, people haven't really filled those a lot. In theory, there should be standing room up against the fence next to the bleachers and maybe on the other end of the field near the VIP parking lot. Last time, those areas were kept empty by security. I'd assume they'll do the same again. There's a big fence on the bleachered end of the field. Let kids stand up against it. The only person that's climbed the fence and gotten onto the field was that kid in 2002 who was throttled by security.

Yea, to me its like hey, you know your gonna have a game that could have 15,000 people every other year and maybe up to 10,000 if you have a good playoff game.  You also know that maybe in 10-20 years you might have 20,000-25,000 people at the jug game.  I just think they could have planned better.  It would have been better for the school in the long run (and football program obviously)

If you didn't from the get-go, disregard my VT/BC prediciton, wow, that was a little off... sums up my betting cold streak, I'm not touching a game until saturday

Wow, your karma really has taken a hit.  I'll give ya one back but it certainly won't help too much! Everyone in the NJAC seems to have horribly negative Karma!

John McGraw

Well, I think that was just why they didn't build a gigantic stadium. You have a large crowd every other year. And when Cortland isn't playing Ithaca, the gigantic stadium is probably half-full or less. For some reason, Cortland doesn't draw that well for their home games. So, in the eyes of the school, why have a huge stadium that's only full once every two years when you can build a smaller venue and bring in the same amount of people.

How would Cortland draw for a home playoff game? That's a good question. The men's basketball team started drawing lots of fans last year and had a few wild and loud crowds at the end of the year. I think if Cortland can consistantly put together winning teams that are contending for the NJAC title and a playoff spot, it will help attendance. I don't think being in the NJAC helps them. From a football standpoint, its good. They play a tough schedule against good competition and intermix that with non-conference rival games against upstate New York teams. In terms of attendance, the NJAC hurts. I think people would want to see games against schools they know, like the Alfred's, RPI's, and Hobart's (an example) as opposed to Cortland hosting games against teams from New Jersey that the local fans aren't familar with.

But, that's just my two cents. Feel free to agree or disagree.

Uh oh, looks like I got hit by the Karma stealing Monster.

I wish there were actually Springfield fans on here to give me a better thought on how good they actually are.  I would just like some more info.

By the way, apparantly it's snowing in Brockport!  This is when I love South Florida!

John McGraw

Springfield's as good as and going to go as far as the wishbone option rushing attack and Chris Sharpe can take them.

History's shown when Springfield has a good quarterback and a rugged, steady running back (or two or three LOL) they can win football games. Their defense could still be an issue and I think it will get a good test against Brockport this weekend.

That could be one of the fastest played games this season. Springfield runs the football 95% of the time and Brockport is a run oriented team. Combine that with the game-ready whistle and almost Arena Football-like running clock, and you may have a two-hour, 15 minute game.

After all, there has to be some time left on Saturday to see Springfield graduate and former starting center John Cena's big-screen debut in "The Marine." Cena was a senior center for Springfield's 1998 team that featured very good running quarterback Kevin Cahill and a large stable of talented tailbacks.

But they'll pronounce it like Keene, instead of the correct, Kane.
