Congrats to SJF on the bid!!!! Go make the east proud!

Congrats to Fisher for getting in.  I was at the Mount/JCU game yesterday and you are in for a treat if you see the game.  Myers is real good and so are the receivers.  Mount was unable to get pressure and he picked them apart.  They scored 6 times and were stopped inside the 10 on 2 others.  This against, on paper, one of the best defenses in the country.  If SJF cant get pressure they are in for a long day.  Mount was able to score also, Burke makes plays.  JCU brings it on defense and if not for Burke playing Houdini Mount was in trouble.  Mount was able to run the ball, so if SJF is to have a chance they will have to control the ball.  Good luck and congrats again.

Congratulations SJF!  Really great to see you all make it in.

And Ithaca gets a home game after all against Framingham.  All in all, I'll take that, though Johns Hopkins or Wesley would be a tough 2nd week.  Very interesting bracketing this year.

Hey, at least it's not Mount Union in the first round.  I'm so thrilled that Fisher made the field!  This will be a great test right off the bat.

One common opponent between them in Otterbein.  The comparative scores:

Fisher 28
Otterbein 0

John Carroll 28
Otterbein 0

Ummmm

You beat me to it.   Should be a good game.

I know nothing about SJF this season, but if I were you I'd be hoping for wind and rain.   JCU is a 6'5" stud QB and no running game.   Offensive line is very solid, not dominant, but good pass blockers especially when combined with a former D1 (Pitt) QB with a quick release.   Mount gave up rushing him yesterday and dropped 8 or 9 into coverage most of the game.   Only time Mount got any pressure on Myers is when they sent the kitchen sink at him, though it didn't work as he got rid of the ball in time to beat the rush.

The JCU defense is very solid.   Not great anywhere, but not suspect anywhere either.   Very fundamentally sound and good tacklers.   Not as good as their statistical numbers suggest, but solid.   But then again neither is the Mount defense this year.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

hscoach,
Fisher's D is the best ive seen in a long time.
Pressure is certainly there, but coverage is a specialty.
This should be a great game!
While Im glad Fisher got into the dance, I am hopeful that they advance as in years past!
I hope that this game is indicative of JHU.
underestimate this team jcu..please....

Congrats to SJF.

We could have a "battle for the finger lakes" in a couple weeks. That would be awesome.

82,
We find ourselves in a good place!!!!

Good for Fisher... it would be great for the east if they pulled this one out. Ithaca gets a home game against Framingham. I think Framingham will give them a run for their money, very similar to last year against Cortland and this year versus Rowan. I think the huge advantage Ithaca has in special teams judging by the stats, and very well could be the difference in this one.

Very happy for SJF faithful -- I had my doubts for sure.

JCU is a super tough draw.  While a program that is not accustomed to winning, this is a more than solid team.  Common opponent: Otterbein, exact same result as when the SJF played them 28-0.

I think it is interesting how the NCAA is mixing it up -- in the past East and North typically had to go through each other, seems like East Teams and South with MHB.

It would be, but let's not get ahead of ourselves -- JCU is more than for real.  And the nation is rooting for Galludet.

Well if you exclude the Mount Union game (loss) and St. Norbert (ooc) then John Carroll's average margin of victory in the OAC was by a whopping 42 points per game!  If you wanted to include St. Norbert - they beat them 41-0 so really it would still be 42 points per game.  That's pretty crazy.  Not saying it will happen, but if Fisher were to lose by a ridiculous score of let's say 56-14 then I don't want to hear too much on how weak the east is.  They were doing that the entire year to northern teams.

Of course I believe if Fisher plays a clean game, which they haven't done tooooo often, then this could be a very interesting matchup.  In my opinion John Carroll should be a little disappointed that they have to face a team of Fisher's caliber in the first round as opposed to a let's say a Gallaudet.

For what it's worth, the bottom of the OAC is terrible.   Maybe as bad as it's ever been.   Mount, JCU and Berg are good.   Baldwin Wallace and Otterbein are average/decent.   The other 5 teams are so far below the top 3 it isn't funny.

Honestly, I think this will be a good game.

That's a good point.  Really it was the 41 point defeat of Heidelberg that made me go daaaang.  And how they gave up a little over 3 points per game before playing Mount Union.

Upstate

Fox sure a hell has his work cut out for him this week going up vs a 6'5 D1 transfer at QB...

Hopefully he can dial up pressure from his 3-3-5 and give him some looks he hasn't seen before...
