Pat,
With all due respect,
You and yours chose JCU to win...
That did not happen...
And for this....I am extremely happy!

Not sure why this post is about me but congrats on the win.
Thank you- but this is why you were mentioned:

Ryan's take: John Carroll 35, St. John Fisher 17
Keith's take: John Carroll 28, St. John Fisher 14
Pat's take: John Carroll 37, St. John Fisher 17
Consensus: John Carroll, comfortably.

I was glad you were wrong.

You know they had to pick a winner and a loser right...

Let's not be "those" type of fans...

Upstate- I totally get it.
I was just glad that they were wrong.

Congrats to SJF!

I truly believe that by having "been there" in the play-offs enough times in the past, it definitely helped SJF in this game.

Middlerelief......you're getting a bit overboard in your diatribe.

I still believe that 8 out of 10 times (if the weather is decent) JCU beats SJF.  BUT ON THIS DAY (which is all that matters), SJF stayed strong and clearly showed what it takes to win a play-off game.

I think SJF will give Hobart all they want.  Good luck next week.

As a Mount fan, I have developed a respect and affinity to the SJF program.

I have no idea who Middlereliever is "affiliated" with, anyone have a clue?

Good to see you on this board again skunks.
Good luck (not that you need any) to UMU.

Well he's from Rochester....so.....

Mount is not the Mount of prior years, but they are certainly capable of making a run to the Stagg.  They have been up and down, especially frustrating with the inability to put teams away.

I think we have talked about this before, but if SJF could figure out how to eliminate one of those "head scratcher" games in the E-8, I think they would truly start to be a consistent top 10-15 team in D-III, especially with how they have played in the play-offs.

fisheralum91

Totally agree skunks.
It seems that every year Fisher has that one troubling loss.
Fortunately for SJF, Coach Vos believes in scheduling strong ooc games.

Skunks! Interesting seeing you in a different region!  If you are referring to middlerelief's post on the OAC board, I have to weigh in on his behalf on this one. First of all, I actually liked his post. Strongly worded but not over the top IMO. I also agreed with the premise. After a game, to say a team was "better on that day" can be a backhanded compliment. Regarding JC and SJF, the most tangible evidence we have is that SJF is better. Period. I guess anyone could say after losing "We would have beat that team 8 out of 10 times, Saturday was just one of the two." Oh, ok.  Part of being a good team is being able to play in all weather. Part of being a good team is not turning the ball over.  when you get to the playoffs it is pass or fail. IMO, when asking after a game which team is better, the winning team gets 51% better right off the top.  Even if you think it was a total fluke and the rest of the year told a different story, SJF is better. They are still playing and JC is not. We don't know who would win if they played 10 times. We do know they played once and SJF won.

This is by far the most frustrating thing about being a Fisher fan. We have had a lot of debate about who the best teams are over the last several years, but since 2004ish, almost every year I have felt like Fisher was better than almost every team in the East (maybe not the 2008/2009 teams). Specifically the 2006 and 2010 teams. So I feel like talent wise they have been a consistent top 10 or 15 team. They have just lost too many games to actually be a top 10 or 15 team year in and year out. I feel like the playoff results have shown what they can be, but they need to find a way to avoid those frustrating losses.

What really gets to me is it is usually a loss to the other top teams in the league, so everyone is justified in questioning how good they are. They always struggle with AU and have yet to beat Salisbury. So every year they lose their way out of the top of the regional rankings. Maybe it is just me being a homer but I think if they could play like the playoffs every game, they would be that dominant team in the East.
GO FISHER!!!

It's damn hard to go undefeated in college football - you have to be win each week obviously, but these kids are also students who have girlfriends, etc.  I consider myself lucky to have played on an undefeated team but that year was a grind.

I believe in SJF - I put them firmly in my top 25 following week 11, and I know they are going to be a tough out when they are in the tournament.  I would much rather have a team that makes the playoffs after a stumble or two during the season rather than have a team that plays well in the regular season but doesn't have the credentials to get invited to the tournament compared to other resumes.

Congratulations to St. Thomas - (I am a SJF Fan), very impressive win.  SJF had a good run, we're returning a lot of players so who knows, depending on how the NCAA does it seedings, perhaps we'll lock horns again.

Good Luck against UWW - very much ready for new blood in the Stagg Bowl.

I found this - I guess he's a SJF fan.

Really skunks??? What a classless statement IDHO. Jesus you know an eastern team can't seem to do anything right. SJF has TWO losses, gets selected to go on the road to face a very very good JC team, beats them at their place in an NCAA tourney game...but would lose to them 8 out of 10 times??? You know what? Take your BS compliment backed by an underhanded insult and shove it. Come back and talk football when your regional bias can be replaced with some objectivity. Such a ****in baby.
