This isn't related to anything mentioned today, but it's sort of relevant.  I personally have a strong personal disdain for fan's taunting with their cheers at the end of the game.  Specifically the overrated chant.  Fisher fans were doing it with a minute left and Fisher up 27-0.

Why say that?  Not only would you hate that to happen to you if the roles were reversed, but saying that actually undermines the effort that was just put forth.  Calling the other team overrated is saying they aren't really that great, so your smashing them in the mouth is therefore not as impressive.

Having said that, technically I guess I do agree in this case, because as I said I believe Hobart wasn't truly a top 10 team.  But you get what I mean...

I don't know, I'm not sure I agree with this -- largely college crowd, highly emotional -- there's worse things that could have been chanted, fans largely behaved themselves in my opinion.

And let's face it -- Hobart really was  -- it is what it is, let's move forward and focus on Texas

. . . . and  wow -- what a finish to the Iron Bowl.

I'm glad you said this.  I actually admonished some Twitter handles in my arena for even going close to that idea.  It's one thing to congratulate SJF -- and they deserve all that they're getting.  Somebody wins and somebody loses.  And Hobart lost.  Any given Saturday leads to a certain result, but we all want an exciting game.  There's no reason to act high and mighty after wins when you could have your backside handed to you the following week.  I appreciate humble winners -- players and fans alike -- because you are creating the worst of sports when you go beyond good taste.  I heard the chant, but I shut up on Twitter about it.  That said, the girlfriends and parents and siblings acting like newbies really turned me off today on Twitter and at Boswell.  Act like you've been there before, especially when you have been.  Again, though, congrats to SJF as they played a great game.

After having playing in and and watching  a few Cortaca games, my idea of poor fan behavior at the d3 level is a little skewed.

That being said, those silly cowbells bother me more than chants after the game.

Great day for the E8. Bombers with a solid showing against Wesley, a game many were calling a blowout, and Fisher blows out Hobart. We can play a little ball in the E8

You are going to get there a bit early cards- but I like your spirit!
GO CARDS!

There was plenty of people to pick up, and tailgating to do. A trip to DTO across the street from the stadium was a bonus as well. Big game for Fisher today, and they put together a pretty complete effort. Texas will be tough, but you can't win if you aren't in the game. Why not Fisher, right?
GO FISHER!!!

It is quite true that you have a better chance of beating UMHB than Hobart does! ;)

The way they are playing, I'm not sure you have all that great a chance, but good luck to you!

Whoa. Even when I'm oblivious to D3 football and thought Fisher was dead in the water weeks ago, I find that they've made it to the final 8 again!

Nice work, seems from the recaps the team has had a couple of impressive wins. Of course, now it's the travel to Texas. That's kind of exciting.

But yeah, Congrats to Fisher!

Congrats to SJF on your playoff sucess. Good win today over Hobart.

To everyone making the trip to the Lone Star State from New York, enjoy your time in Central Texas. Lots of good Texas BBQ everywhere; Schoepf's BBQ in Belton is pretty good eatin', but don't fill up on it. The CRUthedral has some special food items that are only available at the stadium.

I recommend trying a Cru-dog. It is a hotdog shaped hamburger (best way to describe it) served on a Hawaiian bun topped by cheese. Good stuff. You might want to try the Slovacek Sausage as well. Blue Bell Ice Cream makes a special purple colored homemade vanilla ice cream exclusively for UMHB. Pretty tasty stuff. However, it looks the temp might be a little too chilly for ice cream.

Not a lot of hotel choices in Belton. Killeen has quite a few and Temple has added some in the past few years.  Killeen is about a 20/30 minute drive to the stadium, Temple 10/15. Salado is just 10 minutes south of Belton and has a couple of newer hotels - a Best Western and a Holiday Inn Express. Salado is well known for its arts and antique stores. My in-laws live there.

It seems most people fly into Austin, which is about an hour due south of Belton. Lots of hotel, eating and entertainment choices in the capital city

The weather looks to be less than ideal weather for SJF's visit to The CRUthedral. The extended forecast is calling for temps to be upper 40s with a 30% chance of showers. A little on the cool side for we Texans.

Safe and uneventful travels to all.

Ditto! I couldn't agree more. The post season for the E8 has got to be and eye opener for those who knew nothing about the brand of D3 football in these parts. 2 out of the 16 (now that's "sweet") who advanced to the 2nd round. Congrats to both.

Good luck in the Lone star state. Beware those who are traveling to Texas. Strange things can happen. I got married :) in El Paso in 76 (while playing football at UTEP) and divorced in 78 :( . Don't drink the water! ;).

PS If you get a chance, be sure to vote for the Cardinals on the NCAA.COM website, click on the bracket and then the St. John Fisher vs M. Hardin Baylor game ("Who's will Win")

agree 100%...as a former player, I watched the looks on some Bart players as they looked into stands when some fans were chanting this...they were not students either (which makes it a lot sillier on 'our' part) and I hate to say it but I actually felt for them a bit...except for #43

boobyhasgameyo

And #7.  Before the game started he was flipping off the Fisher side of the stands, doing the slitting throat gesture, and saying to F off.  It wasn't so endearing.  But for the most part the Hobart players seemed like good guys, so yeah I also felt bad with that cheer at the end.

I hate the chant in all situations as well. I heard it at the end of the game along with the na na an na chant (I was down on the fence by that point). I kind of rolled my eyes a bit and went back to my conversation. It is in bad taste for sure, and you have to feel for Hobart that they have to endure that on their own field. I hate that the lasting memory of the Fisher fans is that, but you can't control everyone at the game.

Still a great season for Hobart, and the game yesterday doesn't change that.
GO FISHER!!!

The water's fine, if you aren't in El Paso and that's 600+ miles away.  ;D , but strange things do happen in Texas. The strangest was probably the kick off that the wind pushed backwards a few years back. the weather is supposed to be in the 40s with a possibility of rain, which can really be cold if the wind is blowing. don't be fooled into thinking it doesn't get cold in Texas. The Belton area is fairly humid so if its cold itll chill you to the bone when the wind starts blowing, and it always blows to some extent. I'll ditto Kelly's suggestion for the Crudog. I'd also suggest the kettle chips. Most of all, I hope you all have a safe trip and enjoy the Cruthedral.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Cardinal Pride

Friday night before the Hobart game the temp in Geneva was 11 degrees.  That's Cold!!  The temps your talking about are darn near tropical to us New Yorkers.

I was going to say, anything over 40 degrees is ice cream weather in my opinion!
