Yikes.  I don't know much about the ASC but teams aren't going to go through it undefeated if UMHB is in it.  Unless you mean if you substitute UMHB for one of those teams?

I also don't know why you fail to give credit to them when they clearly did break through in 2004.  Plus while they lost last year to a team like Mount Union, by all accounts it was a close game that could have gone either way.  The last time we played Mount Union in the playoffs (2007) it was our largest playoff defeat.  So there are different ways to lose.

I have no idea what will happen tomorrow.  Fisher could win.  I certainly hope they do.  But they could also get smoked.  Maybe it'll be because we had an off day against a good team, who knows.  But posts like that will ultimately be the stuff that makes other posters come back to after the game and say stuff like "you wouldn't even finish in the top half of the ASC" even though that's likely not the case at all.  I hope for a competitive and fun game tomorrow.  May the better team win.

Boobes . . . may I call you Boobes?

I put some color in their and put a pre-qualed "absurd" and "unprovable" before some of those statements -- tongue and cheek , lighten up, its football not the United Nations.

yes, I mean as a substitute by MHB.  And they have had their share of lopsided losses in the post season as well.

Ha, you may.

Ralph Turner

I think that the E8 and the ASC are roughly comparable, up and down the conference.

In a #1 vs #1, etc. I think that
UMHB beats Ithaca
LaCollege beats SJF  (LaCollege lost at UMHB by 11.)
Alfred beats Miss College
Salisbury beats HSU who was way down this season.
Howard Payne is toss-up to Hartwick.
ETBU is a toss-up with Buff State.
Sul Ross State beats Utica and Frostburg.

You know after seeing a fair amount of people predicting Fisher to lose by 35+ points today, I am curious about something.  I wonder how the predictions would have been if it were John Carroll they were facing today.  If John Carroll beat Fisher 25-16 and then Hobart 27-6 and the entire regular season of absolutely obliterating opponents save for Mount Union who they lost to by a single score.

My guess is that people would still favor UMHB but likely by the 10-14 point per game mark.  It's just interesting to me how that works.

dlippiel

A good question. Dlip thinks with JC's 10 pt loss to UMUC and their stomping through the OAC they would be getting much more respect in regards to the possible result of a game with the Cru. To Dlip this would not be because of Cru fans but because of two things: 1. The lack of inter-regional contests for comparison purposes and 2. The perception of the East being the weakest of the 4 regions. Just Dlip's thoughts. Let's go SJF!!!!!! Hoping for an injury free game for both teams.

8 point loss to UMU my friend.  8 point loss.  I agree with your reasons as to why the predictions would have turned out that way.  I'm just saying maybe they should consider us as a team of the same capacity of John Carroll.  Unless they now believe that they would beat them by 35+ points as well.  In which case I have no beef with it.

Cardinal Pride

I just have a feeling the Cards are gonna shock the D3 world today....just a feeling.

The interaction with the UMHB faithful has been quite tame, seriously the biggest argument/discussion point has been the weather...

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. Then, love your neighbor as yourself.

This is who we are.

+K Pep had never looked at UMHB's website....until now...how refreshing that UMHB is "A Christ-Center Learning Community."

While Alfred University was founded by a small denomination of Baptists who observed the seventh-day Sabbath (and for decades played its football games on Saturday nights out of deference to Sabbath observers in the community), the university has always been non-sectarian.
There is, however, a remnant of active believers on both the Alfred University and Alfred State College campuses who embrace Christ's simplification of the Ten Commandments as a life purpose.

I think a lot of that comes down to John Carrol gave Mt. Union a game (and had a pretty stellar season overall), and SJF had some serious bumps in the regular season.

Do most people think now that JCU was a fluke, or that SJF got their act together and is the better team now?  I tend to think that SJF simply got better at the right time.  Add everyone's pessimistic thoughts on Hobart in there, and things kind of make sense.

You do have a good point though.  Probably one of the reasons why Vegas doesn't put point spreads on these games!

I didn't realize Alfred was started by seventh-day Baptists. That's awesome. UMHB is a Texas Baptist school along with Hardin Simmons, Howard Payne, East Texas Baptist (all in the ASC) Dallas Baptist, Houston Baptist, Wayland Baptist, and Baylor.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Cru Mike

Headed to the Cruthedral. Hope we have a great injury free game. Good luck to both teams.

Thanks Mike.  Safe travels!

I thought I saw they did starting in the elite 8...

Fisher was a two TD underdog I believe...
