This may be the part of me that is always looking for Fisher to blow it, but I see a ton of potential hiccups on the schedule. I don't feel great about Buff State, and Frostburg always plays Fisher tougher than others (see last years game). Fisher was down 20 to UC last year, Salisbury Salisbury, and IC is no joke. AU has played spoiler many times as well.

So you pretty much see the entire remaining slate of D-III opponents as a potential hiccup.

I've learned to never get too excited about non-conference play here at Buffalo State. That's why I haven't posted until now. But now its E 8 time, and I'm excited! This is when the games count for league supremacy! My beloved Bengals are off to a 2-0 start and Alfred is coming to Coyer field for homecoming! The pre-season 4th place vs the preseason 6th place (coaches prediction). Plus I get to see "Pep" in his regal colors!! Coach Boyes has the team feeling real good about themselves. If they can keep the scoring up ( 55.5 pts per), and lessen the opponents scoring (giving up 40 pts per), then anything is possible.

Go BENGALS!! ;)

See you Saturday Pep! :)

Pep would love to be there except Pep is "Second Best Man" for an Oct. 4 wedding and the groom and company have a bachelor's camp out Friday night and Saturday. Pep has yet to hear whether AU can muster a band but the drummer is a Buffalo boy and plans to be there with his folks for AU Family Weekend. Perhaps a few instrumentalists will tag along....

Or, on second thought, perhaps Pep will take dem boys hostage and drag them off to Buffalo for a football game! Who gets married during football season, unless, of course, the ceremony is on the field during halftime?

On Saxon Warriors!

Something tells me that there will be a "pep" sighting this weekend. I could be wrong!!

I will disagree with Cards that every game this year is a potential hiccup.
Fisher (should) be able to handle the remainder if its schedule.
I think that cards was inferring that there has historically been an annual hiccup.
I dont see that happening this year.
Unless there is a catastrophic injury in a key position, as long as they remain focused and disciplined-finish 10-0.

As long as the memory of a really good Fisher team losing to Norwich and maybe the best team they ever had losing to team Boltus, yes, every game is a potential hiccup.

Obviously I don't think Fisher will lose all or even a couple of those games, but shrinking the season down to one game against SU is a little premature.
GO FISHER!!!

No video for AU v Buff St ?

Looks like live stats and audio are available. Two years ago, the game was broadcast live (Pep hates TV time-outs that interfere with the flow of D3 football games) by Time-Warner, then rebroadcast Sunday night. Not sure where to check for the possibility of Time-Warner coverage. Of course, that game was one week after the Bengals shocked the world by beating defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater, 7-6 on a last-second TD pass.

In a rare occasion of proficient prognostication, Pep proposed back in May or June 2012 (while applauding Buffalo State's courage in scheduling), that the Bengals would go out to Wisconsin and knock off the Warhawks, then return to Coyer Field the following week to be brought back to earth by Pep's Saxon Warriors. That was the game where AU went with the wildcat throughout most of the second half and Chuck Beckwith was the cat that went wild, scoring three TDs on three carries of 31, 52 and 80 yards. Pep was there and was beside himself. Bengalsrule was also there and also beside himself. Probably a good thing Pep wasn't beside Bengalsrule.  ;)

You know, I've always wondered: Hypothetically, what happens if Fisher and IC take care of business against the Wick that year?

If Fisher's 10-0 and Ithaca's 9-1, are they seeded 1-2 in an "East" bracket? I mean, it's not insane to consider an unbeaten Fisher, coming off of the year they had, and owning a quality win like the IC butt-kicking, to be a #1 seed, right? And the other teams in that bracket that season wouldn't have a resume like IC's, going 9-1 with their only loss to a top 5-caliber team.

And given their playoff performances, if they are indeed 1/2, it's hard not to envision those two teams making it through to face each other in a 3rd round game.

I know I'm asking a lot of what if's. Maybe Mount gets the #1 seed anyway, or the different playoff matchups result in an upset of Fisher or IC. But I think it's very possible that Fisher gets a #1 seed, the E8 sends two teams to the Final 8, Fisher makes back-to-back trips to the Final 4 and the Curry train never really gets off the ground because the win over IC in 2008 looks like a total fluke rather than a validation of 2007.

Look, flags fly forever. The Wick took care of their business, and good on them for winning it. But man, every time I think back to that season, that's what I start thinking about. I'd really love for someone who knows more about committee-think and playoff seeding to throw in their two cents though.

These statements are kind of at odds, aren't they?

Going undefeated does require remaining focused, disciplined, etc.  Of course.  But that inherently means that there are potential hiccups along the way, because if there were no potential hiccups, you would go undefeated no matter what.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I kind of thought Cards was saying that the other teams legitimately had shots to beat Fisher, while FA91 was looking at it more or less like Fisher simply needed to avoid beating themselves.

Haha....Pep's a new fan of the Hamilton Continentals, so long as they're not playing the Saxons (which is not likely to happen anytime soon.) Gotta stick with Coach Murray and his boys (Puccio and Miller). Murray did an awesome job at AU and is a class act.

You guys are awesome...Bombers that is exactly what I was trying ( in my fumbling way) to say.
Thank you.
Im hitting the UC game this weekend to scope out what kind of team Blaise has...
Report to come later SatErday.

God I hate bye weeks....lets get to it!

sjfcards

This is going back two weeks, but according to the Fisher game notes Khari Demos will start over Troy Vanburen at RT this weekend. I think that was the groups preference when we discussed the game two weeks back, but it is always nice to have proof of how smart we all are.
GO FISHER!!!
