Is Ithaca going to be on TT as a "Surprisingly Close Game" or "Top 25 Team Most Likely to Get Upset" every game until they lose (or play Fisher)?  ;)

Granted, I agree with Ryan this week, and thought Keith was on to something in Week 1, and I've said myself I think IC's due to regress. Still, it's kind of funny to see the same team there three games in a row. Can the Bombers make Ryan's prediction look (in hindsight, of course) as foolish as Keith's? A nation waits

Bombers- Until somebody shows a glaring weakness in the IC game- IMO they should go into the Fisher game undefeated.
Will they be tested- yes, but so far---its looking like that scenario takes place.

Bombers798891

Predictions:

Alfred 31, Ithaca 20: The Bombers keep it close by breaking a big return, but the curse of the turf strikes again! Tyler Johnson makes the plays and vaults the Saxons into the top 25 with the upset win.

Fisher 41, Frostburg 13: The Bobcats score first, confirming half the Fisher guys' fear that this is a potential hiccup. Then, Fisher rolls because they're a lot better than Frostburg

Salisbury 27, Buffalo State 24
: I think the extra week to prepare does just enough for Salisbury to get past a surprisingly tough Bengals' squad

Brockport 28, Utica 17: The Pioneer give a go of it, but Brockport pulls away with a strong second half

Bonus pick:
Morrisville State 17, Cortland 14: The Red Dragons lead 14-10 and have the ball with three seconds remaining. On 3th down, Cortland calls for the QB to take a knee, but he spikes the ball instead. Not wanting a repeat of Week 1, Cortland punts the ball away, but upon hearing the horn go off, Red Dragon players start to celebrate, allowing the Morrisville returner a clear path down the sidelines. Dan MacNeill pulls a Woody Hayes and punches the returner to prevent him from scoring. The touchdown counts, and Cortland falls to 0-3. They forfeit their next six games, but beat Ithaca in the Jug anyway, keeping the Bombers from the playoffs. MacNeill is carried through the streets of Cortland on the people's shoulders, but dropped when the fans rush to destroy the only car in the town that hasn't been lit on fire yet. MacNeill quits, but Cortland's season is made into a movie. Jon Voight plays MacNeill, and wins an Oscar. James VanDerbeek plays Cortland's quarterback, and uses a horrible accent everyone makes fun of

While Pep is still cleaning off his screen from the coffee that was spewed thereon from Pep's mouth (+K), Pep will pull himself together enough to say that Bombers has gone out of his way to pave the way for the Saxons on the Yunevich Stadium turf but Ithaca has pulled itself together early this season. Solid defense, balanced attack with a great ground game complemented by a solid passing attack. Hard to see a soft spot in the Bomber armor. Saxon attack with Johnson has been effective on the ground and thru the air but how long can one guy carry the offense? Even with solid performances by the AU defense and offense, they are outmatched by the Bombers in the special teams department. Hoping Pep is wrong, but looks like it will be Ithaca 35, Alfred 26.

In the Alfred Sun's weekly "Pigskin Picks" Contest, entries thus far are a 50-50 split on the winner of the Ithaca-Alfred game. Consider it a toss-up.

Stay tuned!

GO FISHER!!!

AUPepBand

With Fisher playing at Frostburg State, Pep wonders whether the Bobcat Marching Band will attempt to distract the opponents, as it attempted in the Alfred-Frostburg game last season. The band chose to play loud music when AU had the ball, particularly when the Saxon QB was calling signals. Same thing happened at Salisbury two years ago, when the press box played canned music every timeout, relegating the nice little Seagull pep band to play its music when the opponents had the ball(?).

Having been in this business for 14+ years, Pep is mindful of proper band etiquette at a football game. In fact, the AU Pep Band was instructed early on by a referee that should the band play when the opposing QB was under center or calling signals, AU would be penalized for "delay of game." Pep asks that Fisher fans please observe the Bobcat band's antics on Saterday to determine whether such actions have been corrected. And, likewise, Pep anticipates that the St. John Fisher Pep Band, in the interest of good sportsmanship as is encouraged by the Empire 8, will not lower itself to such practices.

Close game between Salisbury and Buffalo State so far.  It's 21-17 Salisbury in the 3rd quarter with Buff State driving.

Not as close thus far between Fisher and Frostburg.  Fisher is up 21-0 after the 1st quarter.

Hard to believe but I don't think the game is even that close. It has been all Fisher so far. Having their way with Frostburg.

Agreed.  They are dismantling them so far.  Frostburg must be having a bad day.  They have won or been competitive in all of their games this year.  Clearly Fisher is a better team, but this is looking like it could end up being a 56-0 type game if they don't step up.
