I love the ECAC talk, but I want to hear what people think about IC/Hobart. I don't know much about Hobart except for what I have seen from scores and some real high level looks at games/stats. I think this may be one of the better games in the first round. I think the teams are pretty comparable to each other talent wise, so it should be interesting.

I am still going to take IC by one score.
GO FISHER!!!

BENGALS GET ECAC BID!!! Am I the only 1 that's excited??? ::). 1st bowl game since 2000.A little history .... Buffalo State has made 10 previous postseason appearances, including seven trips to the NCAA playoffs, and is undefeated in three previous ECAC Bowl games.  Most recently, the Bengals defeated Hartwick, 43-20, in the 2000 ECAC Northwest Bowl.  The Bengals also beat Plymouth State in the 1997 Northwest Bowl, and defeated WPI in the 1991 Northeast Bowl.

Good luck to Ithaca, Utica and SJ Fisher in their respective bowls. 4 teams from 1 conference!! Nice.  Here's to hoping that Ithaca will find themselves playing around 7 p.m. on Dec 19th!! ;)

Go BENGALS!!!!

Gosh, 'rule, looks like you're all alone in your excitement!  :o
Last year at this time, you were excited about basketball season beginning....
Guess you and Pep have switched roles this year.
Pep is excited about AU men's basketball with Russell Phillips as head coach and some good talent returning from last year's E8 Tourney Team.

On Saxon Warriors!

My friend. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Yes, this time last year our football team season was over ( no excitement needed).  This year my beloved BENGALS live to fight for another week!  And trust me many at BSC are excited, they just don't post here at d3!

But BENGALS basketball is my first love and has been for the past 8 years, ever since Fajri Ansari took over the program. And since our hoops team plays in the Sunyac, there's no reason for me to blow up these E8 boards. Last year we opened up at SJ Fisher ( with a win😄btw), so there may have been some "hoops overlap" on these boards. On the ' Yac boards I probably post as much as you, bomber or fish alum.  We have some great teams in the 'Yac ( sent 3 to the NCAAs last year). Our style of posting over there is considerably different than here though ( ill just leave it at that).

Magicman is our main poster and he a tuly appeared on a nationally syndicated d3 hoops talk show last year at the beginning of the NCAAs playoffs ( he's a Plattsburgh fAn btw)! You, pep, are a class act. Ill be following the E8 closely , especially since SJF comes to Buff State dec 13th. Everyone understands the relationship between OOC wins and Massey ratings within the Yac. And since E8, Sunyac and liberty all mix it up during November and December, I'm hoping that all the E8 teams ku kick as much ( non Sunyac) butt as possible. Right now I'm hoping that E8 Kim is butt times 4 this week in football.

Go BENGALS ( football and basketball).😎

Pep is familiar with Magicman on the hoop boards. He is Mr. Information. And Pep, too, is somewhat of a fan of Plattsburgh as Head Coach Tom Curle is a one-time friend when he oversaw the bouncing of basketballs at the Orvis Center at Alfred State College when Pep was advising the Alfred State student newspaper. (now we're going back a few....)

Pep tries to get on the hoop boards a bit as well to try to keep up on his Saxons and the other D3 hoopsters. Very encouraged thus far by what is seen in the Saxon squad under new Head Coach Russell Phillips, recently an assistant at Hobart. While AU will not maintain the torrid pace that Coach Wellman implemented last year, when the Saxons were second in scoring in all of D3, averaging just under 100 points a game, Pep is confident that Phillips will have similar success.

Add to Phillips' arrival on the scene is a "change of scenery" as the basketball venue at McLane Center at AU has been renamed the Galanis Family Arena and sports a brand new shiny floor, new bleachers and Pep likes the new digs. Pep hasn't checked out the webcast yet but the camera has been moved to the north side of the gym, the same side the teams and the scorers table are located. AU hadn't used the old bleachers on that side but the new bleachers will be utilized for all games from this point forward, with seating capacity around 2,500. Now....if the Saxons can equal or improve upon last year's run, perhaps the seats will be used!

BTW, is that press box finished yet at Coyer Field?  ;) +K

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Although I'm sure you'd rather have a response from someone who knows about the teams, but I took Hobart in my bracket. It looks like IC struggles running the ball while Hobart seems to have a solid running game. Given the erratic weather of the playoffs, I'd prefer to go with the team that has a better chance of running the ball.

Ahhhh  the "Magic 1" is well known!! I can imagine you 2 crossing paths 1 day. I have met him personally on 4 occasions. I know of no 1 on these boards that is a better resource when it comes to D3 basketball. NO 1 !!!!!

I agree that the Saxons have started off on high note, 95-57 victory over SUNY-ESF, which is definitely is a good beginning! Maybe 1 days our paths will cross again (in a basketball venue). Until then,  here's to wishing that Alfred goes 7-1 (I gotta cheer for Fredonia -SUNYAC) heading into E8 play. ;)

And no...the press box isn't finished yet.   :(

Wrong Message: not too many teams are playing this week, be proud take advantage of it, and let's send the Seniors out on a winning note, great effort this season.

Right Message: we fell short of our ultimate goal in '14, 2015 starts today.

No more consolation prize in the ECAC - program should be beyond that by now.

Good luck to 44% of E8 teams who are playing in postseason games today. And here's to hoping that Ithaca will be playing again next weekend!!

St. John Fisher has won zero - count them: ZERO - outright E8 championships.

Every playoff berth has been a Pool C.

Stop acting like Fisher is this national power that is better than ECAC games.  Seriously.  One of the few things worse than obnoxious fans of elite programs is obnoxious fans that think their program is better than it actually is.

I get what you're saying Tartan but they have won the automatic qualifier at least once in 2004...

So not every playoff birth was a pool c...

Fair enough, I apologize. I skimmed through the 2006, 2007, etc seasons and saw that they'd lost to the conference champ almost every year. I did not check 2004 so I apologize.

The point stands: "we should be past ECAC games" is a comment befitting a program with, like, national titles. Or at least one outright conference title in the past decade. At some point, you have to acknowledge that you are what your record says you are.

All valid points, again, it's just that this is getting frustrating for Fisher fans...

Their best teams have been kept out of the playoffs because of their inexplicable regular season losses while their "OK" teams end up getting in and make a run to the quarter finals...

Their 2010 and 2014 teams were on par with 2006...

Just frustration by some...

boobyhasgameyo

2014 started out with being on par with 2006.  The defense has done their part all year with the exception of Salisbury.  Our offense has gone to the gutter the last month or so.  Look no further than the Ithaca game or today vs. West Conn for examples of that.  Although Nigolian being hurt and Fenti with a torn labrum certainly did no favors.

There are two national powers (Mt. and  UWW) and there are three more that are close (MHB, Wesly, and Linfield) and then there's an handful that are aspiring to be in the conversation.

No one is acting, one of the few things worse than obnoxious fans are those who try to put words in people's mouths.  There's a career path for you losers at places like media matters.

SJF has made the NCAAs 5 times in 10 seasons -- ECACs are beneath the program in my opinion, and every season should be striving for the NCAAs and when they don't make it, it is a disappointment.
