I didn't get to watch the Fisher/AU game yesterday, but I am impressed with how far Fisher came this season. Happy to see that they didn't pack it in after the 1-3 start, and actually gained a share of the E8 title. I am excited to see if/who they get in a bowl game. After week 4 I would have signed up for an ecac bowl in a heartbeat.

Pep only wishes the Saxons could have played at Growney back in September...played Ithaca later in the season, and finished one of those fourth quarter drives at Cortland State! AU offense never really got untracked on Saterday but Fisher "D" had a lot to do with that. Meanwhile, James Chambers took it to the Saxons, who nevertheless, played some outstanding defense in limiting Fisher to 23 points despite being on the field for over 37 minutes.

Best of luck to the Cardinals, the Bengals and the Saxons in the ECAC D3FootballFest...and yes, also to the Red Dragons in the NCAAs! Pep only regrets that AU must play its game at 5 p.m. Sunday in Connecticut. Sundays were made for AU football players to nurse their wounds by going to the library to study!

Guess this means that after 11 weeks of the Demolition Derby, there are FOUR cars still running! Now that's durability....

Four cars out 8!  Not bad if I don't say so myself. The only thing that would make that better is if all 4 came across the finish line first this weekend! ;)

Go      EMPIRE 8!!!

Awesome finish to the season by Fisher.  Great turnaround after a disastrous first month.  I hope Cortland performs admirably in the NCAA's but I am not overly sold on them.  I wasn't impressed when they beat Fisher at our worst.  Even at the time it looked like it was more a product of Fisher's woes than their performance.  And it's not sour grapes either because I did not feel that way after Thomas More and Buffalo State.

But hey...we'll see.  I'm an E8 supporter in the playoffs above all else.  So, go Red Dragons!

Dlip thinks the Gulls are going to bitch slap the Red Dragons. Two solid offenses and two poor defenses. The Gulls get the better of it and move on. Dlip just does not buy into Cortland (echoing bobby's thoughts)nand was not all that happy they won the E8. Hopefully they p I've Dlip wrong though. He would like that.

I recall Dlip's love of that option game :), but I think Salisbury may be getting a little too much love based on the win against Wesley. As I said elsewhere, I feel like this will probably be a high scoring affair that will offer one of the closest and most exciting games of the weekend. It is my thought having watched both teams a couple times that it could go either way. The 11 against Ithaca does give me some pause, but I think being at home with the gulls traveling will provide them some help. I'll probably make a score prediction some time before the end of the week.

Pep is thinking that Cortland State should ask IC if it can host the NCAA playoff game at Butterfield Stadium where they likely haven't cut the grass in awhile.  :o
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

Great call pg.04, it's a borderline obsession of dlip's to say the least (he has been advised to seek counseling for it). dlip will be wearing black for the next five days and mourning DeLong's retirement from Springfield...

dip -  you are welcome to jump on the W&L wagon. Top rushing offense in D3 by 99+ ypg on average. We'll see if TMC is ready for our 5 headed monster option attack

I think this will be one of the most interesting games as well, I think if Cortland State utilize its receiving corps and spread the Gulls out, while occasionally running the QB option, they will be in great shape, Salisbury really haven't so anyone from passing. However, if Cortland allows that option to run rampant with eight or more completions, half of those are going to be either big plays to setup a touchdown or touchdowns. Again, both teams have not been dominant, so whoever has the ball last will win. My early prediction Salisbury 41 Cortland State 38

sjfcards

Living in Cortland I could not have picked a better first round game for Cortland (without changing who was in the tournament obviously). For years I have watched NJAC teams in Cortland, but it feels like I get to watch another E8 team with Salisbury coming to town.

I am pulling hard for Cortland here, but I feel like Salisbury is the better team. The E8 was down a bit IMHO, and Salisbury seems to be as strong as they ever were in the E8. Should be a fun day in Cortland, and can't wait to see how it plays out.
GO FISHER!!!

@d3jason

Nice Article about an Ithaca guy, Mike Marks, doing good things here in the Delaware High School ranks at Smyrna. He is the OC for Mike Judy a former four-year starter at Wesley. These guys are lighting up the scoreboards.

dlip thinks he is going to watch this game as long as it comes in decent on streaming video. There are so many he wants to watch but this is the game that is pulling him in the most.

This is what the **** dlip needs for Saturday:

I'm fascinated with this game. Primarily because I'm a W&L alum, but also because I can't decide if W&L really has a chance. I think so. It's a good W&L team. Probably the second best W&L team I've ever seen. But they played such sh!t OOC I can't imagine where they actually fit in DIII. R-MC and H-SC both got hammered by good teams OOC, and W&L had trouble with both (though R-MC was primarily a trap game).

This could be a really good game, or it might be a repeat of a couple years ago where TMC just had Jimmies and Joes that were too much for W&L's X's and O's to make up for. I think W&L has better Jimmies and Joes now than then, though I think there is still a deficit compared to the top 25 teams in DIII, but if W&L can make their offense work it is a ton of fun to watch and they can shorten the game and be in it.

Let's hope for the best. dlip hasn't watched either one of these teams play this season. He has just kind of followed their success from afar.  :)

Completely idiotic and boneheaded move by Fisher...

Down by 14...

They stop Westminster on 3rd down with 1:00 left on Westminsters own 40...

Fisher lets the clock run instead of taking a time out...

Westminster punt goes to Fisher's 36yd line...

Fisher could have had the ball on their 36 with around 50 seconds left to play...

Great job in showing faith in your offense...
