Pep doesn't know how Trevor Monk, last week's E8 Special Teams Player of the Week, can't be considered for the same honor for Week Two.

Yesterday at RPI, he hit field goals of 24 and 23 yards, respectively, in the first half and was 3-for-3 on PATs. His field goals of 35 and 42 yards, respectively, in the second half gave the Saxons a little insurance. But it wasn't only Monk's foot that helped AU win.

In the second half, after RPI put up back-to-back TDs and AU went three-and-out, he punted 36 yards. On that punt, RPI's Conor Davies broke through AU's punt coverage for 61 yards and clearly had a shot at going all the way...except it was Trevor Monk who chased him and took him down, saving a TD that would have pulled RPI to within 27-21. As it was, AU defense stiffened and held RPI to a field goal, leaving AU still two scores ahead.

On Saxon Warriors!

Addendum: Monk's four field goals ties a school record for most field goals in a game. Monk joins: Tim Peters vs. Hobart, 1986; Kris
Johnson vs. Buffalo State, 1982; Don Hockenberry vs. Fordham, 1971; and Eric Rockwood, vs. Hartwick, 2011.

Haha! Funny thing is, the kid just walked into the library. So Pep is thinking there's no truth to that vicious rumor!

New top 25 poll is out

Cortland up a spot to 15
Fisher coming in hot at 21

Alfred and Utica both in the "I see you, dawg" section.

Yeah E8!

Saxon73

A little early to get too excited about the polls... always something  ::)
Franklin, having beaten Thomas Moore is ranked behind TM.  The rub is Franklin lost to Div 1 Butler while TM pounded lesser Bridgewater this weekend.

Just hopping on after a great weekend.
Having a chance to ponder the games- my reaction to the Fisher game is much more muted than midrelief's thoughts.
While I agree that the D was not as spectacular as last week, thinking that they were dominated is a bit much.
The special teams (punting this time) put them up against a wall and I think that toward the end of the game they may have been a bit gassed.
The O looked good as usual and overall not a bad game for Fisher.
Is there a need for improvement for the D- of course especially this week with the E8 title on the line if all plays out.
There is little room for error Sat. against Cortland.
That said- i think that a sky is falling attitude is not necessary.

Yeah but Franklin was pounded so badly that it was probably hard to ignore.  Non scholarship D1 team or not.

Yeah it's pretty clear that MR has some sort of vendetta on any defensive coach not named Faggiano at Fisher...

I'm pretty good with their defensive performance Saturday...

Find me a defense that will keep an option team out of the endzone 100% of the time when it's 1st and goal from the 3 after a sudden change on botched punt snap...

Fisher's D could have easily folded after that especially when the offense went 3 and out on their following possession after SC's score...

Fisher's D picked off the QB and set up the Fisher O near midfield and the offense made a play to ice it with Naton's long pass...

They held the SC offense to 279 yards while being on the field for 38 minutes and 11 seconds. I'm good with the Defensive effort...

This week game is the test.
Is fisher's D able to shut down a top rated passer?

can they get the running game to click against a better run d?

Its an exciting time!

82 cardinals

Fisher had way to many penalties last week that kept Springfield in the game. That has to be corrected.

They've been having untimely penalties on 3rd down that give the opposition easy/cheap first downs that keep drives going for years though...

I fully expect a shootout so watch it end up being 20-17 in OT or something dumb like that...

Ah yes! AUKaZ00 is back with his thoughtfully crafted, incitefully Gatto-spell-check-related pesky persiflage!

(Does this mean we might even get an East Region Fan Poll out before the sun comes out in Alfred?)
