That seems odd.
Thoughts on Brockport -Fisher?
Foxy gets his first shot against his alma mater and former employer.

Even after playing Alfred St the stats do not look good for Brockport. Brockport's secondary has been getting torched, it's allowing over 300 yards per game and has let up 36 first downs through the air. They have only recorded one sack in three games as well.

Collicio has been his usual self but Will Coon has been extremely impressive. He has been averaging almost 25 yards a catch and has long arms so his catch radius has been a huge help for Naton.

If Naton gets time I like Coon and Collicio vs the secondary a lot.

Big question is if Coach Keyes will be able to bottle up Andrew's or not. Keep him contained a little and Fisher wins. Let him run wild and Fisher will be in trouble.

Pep was looking at the Brockport-Hartwick boxscore. Seems that Dan Andrews had a tackle, forced a fumble and had an interception!?! Didn't know he went both ways...reminds Pep of Jared Manzer!

Raynor did it all! Was Fisher the opponent when film of Raynor appeared on the Thursday Night College Football halftime segment that featured smaller colleges? Was a night game and there were moths filling the air because of the floodlights.

Oh you mean the game where Gerald Dias took a punt return 97 yards for a TD that ended up being the game winner for Fisher?

Yes, that was it :)

Interesting topic on geography of recruiting. I noticed that Hobart has about 2/3 of the team outside of  Upstate/Western NY  with 4 from California, 4 from Florida, 1 from Texas and 1 from British Columbia. While some of the long distance team members attended NE prep schools , there are a few that are truly local. We put the Fla. and Cal boys near our campus palm trees in the winter 8-)

AU has some 150 players on the roster and only about a dozen are from out-of-state. While AU gets its fair share of Upstate/Western NY kids, in recent years, there's been a larger contingency from Long Island and NYC.

Pep has often wondered how Cragg lands so many out-of-state players....but then, Geneva is a "vacation paradise" on the north shore of Seneca Lake. Just haven't ever seen the palm trees, Bartman!
Pep, Hobart only has 96 on the team.....how do the Saxons get 150
and with all those men on the team AND a full pep band, are there only coeds in the stands😍?

Hobart has to have more than that if they're fielding a JV team...

According to this story the Ferreira injury could be season ending.

That sucks that it came on a late and low hit.

HWS has branched out in admissions to focus on non-NY schools so not surprising they've gotten kids from other areas. Also Coach Drach (IL) and Green (FL) know territories outside the usual Upstate/PA band which helps. FL kids coming to Hobart isn't new as DeWall was actually recruiting down in Tampa and So FL for Hobart years ago (taking a page from Audino and Union who started down there in the 90s) which is how guys like Dom Ellis, Jake Stanley and others started to come up.

To Bartman's point, there are some out of state kids go to NE prep schools that the Statesmen normally pull from, either as 4 YR or PG year guys. Perfect example of that is FY FB Davis who's from CA but went to school at St. George's Prep (RI) where HWS has pulled kids (mostly sailors though) for decades. Others like Shed, Gallegos, Kirshe, etc. went to small, elite, academic oriented privates where kids would look at national private liberal arts schools, and probably get in with merit dollars, if needed.

As far as Hobart's JV, 96-7 is the right number. When I played there were some 2's that played on JV along with us 3's (and we didn't have back ups). The FY class was 30-something so add in some SO's etc and you have enough to field a team of 40-5+ something guys to do JV.

Has anyone watched Brockport play? I figured they would be one of the better teams in the league this year, and at least to this point they have not impressed. I am really only going by the scores that I have seen, so I really have no idea. I saw Alfred State hanging around against them, and it looks like they really struggled with Hartwick.

It always seems when it feels like everything looks like a Fisher win, they lose, so I am wondering how good/bad this Brockport team really is?

Focus on the task at hand and beat Brockport in the courage bowl.
Also- why the 4p start time?

Watched some of the Port vs Hobart and Port vs Hartwick games.

There are times vs Hobart where the WRs were just running right past the Port DBs like they were in quicksand and guys just beat them over the top. They also got beat on the double moves. Their secondary is either over aggressive or they're sitting back too much.

Vs Hartwick, Pine would roll out towards the twins side. The far WR would run an out and Garcia (who was in the slot) would just attack the safety to force him deep and then cut it to a deep out. It was working almost the entire game. They didn't adjust very well. I get it that you're worried about him beating your safety over the top but put a guy on him.

I think you'll see Fisher attack them deep early and often and then try to spring Chambers (and hopefully Fusco if healthy) after they make Port back off.

Luckily it is the Courage Bowl and Fisher typically takes that game pretty seriously, and plays well. They played some lower level U of R teams and always played well against them.

My only guess as to the 4pm start time is there was some issues in the Town of Brockport after the game 2 years ago if I remember. The big (really big) crowd went downtown and spilled out into the streets at later points in the night. Perhaps the earlier start time is an effort to avoid some of that stuff? I don't know how bad it was, but I heard about it on the news in Cortland the next day.

A few years ago when AU stepped in to keep the game going it was a day game I believe.
GO FISHER!!!

ITH radio

Based on watching the Hobart game I came away with a few observations:

- Big on the OL/DL
- Andrews is the key to their offense (Hobart's run D hasn't been good due to guys being out, and/or the scheme they run which seems to force plays outside so the ends, OLBs and DBs make the tackles)
- Can be beat deep (Hobart had 420 passing yards and Wick had 356)
- Iffy special teams, but did punt well against Hobart (watch out for quick kick, but that cat is probably out of the bag after Wk 1)

If Fisher can supply pressure up the middle the BP QB will struggle. He didn't see much of rush vs. Bart b/c the DL / LBs there are on the younger, inexperienced side. He's thrown 4 picks in 3 games which is also something the Fisher DBs can hone in on. #20 did a great job getting the Cortland QB to make throws he was able to make plays on b/c of his cover technique. Should be able to do the same here also.

On the flip side, BP has only one sack from their D, so spreading out and attacking the middle and deep part of the field is doable given lack of pass rush / having a QB with a quick release.

Hobart didn't try and run on them but Fisher probably will and can do a better job. BP hasn't allowed more than 106 rushing yards a game, probably b/c teams with good receiving corps know they can make gains in the passing game.
