And there could have been at least one more E8 player recognized....AU's Brendan Buisch had eight catches for 145 yards and four TDs, including a one-handed snag of a Tyler Johnson fade route pass that Pep thought for sure had been overthrown. Unfortunately, it wasn't caught on film (webcam didn't include that corner of the end zone) or it might have been nominated for "Play of the Week." Buisch's four TD catches tied an Alfred record.

As for the Bright spot in AU's offensive attack, Pep saw Casey in the library Thursday and challenged him to get 100 yards against Pep's alma mater on Saterday. So Bright goes for 221 yards on 21 carries and two TDs and adds 68 yards on four receptions.  Bright took Pep's challenge pretty seriously.  ;)

On Saxon Warriors!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Was out of town all weekend and wasn't able to watch anything other than the first play of the SJF/BSC game...

Just got to watching it on the on demand portal on Fisher's site...

Few thoughts about the game and team in general...

The game was very exciting and there's lots of things to be excited about for Fisher. The freshman was pretty outstanding considering he's the first freshman to start for Fisher since Roland in 2000. He was efficient, played within the scheme and made plays through the air. I was worried that Fisher wouldn't have anything after Naton graduated but he's certainly someone to be hopeful for Fisher's offense the next few years. He definitely needs to work on pocket presence and when to bail on a play but that's really nitpicking considering he's a freshman coming from a high school that ran basically nothing but the option/zone read...

The defense bent but didn't break that often and made plays when it mattered the most. Stewart, Jones and Johnson are a great set of playmakers and for the most part they kept them contained. They faced a QB that's probably 26-27 years old and forced him into 3 turnovers, 4 sacks and he only completed 48% of his passes. They keep making plays and I'm good with it...

Coach Kramer has been calling a fantastic game week in and week out. He's coming up with wrinkles each week and the tempo and execution have been outstanding all year. He was without his entire starting backfield in the 2nd half and still found a way to get the ball moving and scored enough to get the win...

Injuries. They are in a tough spot with arguably their 3 best offensive players being out for a while. Haven't heard anything more than what was said on here about Chamber's foot, I'm hoping it's just a sprain and not a break. Chambers had 97 yards in the 2nd quarter, he was on pace for a huge game. Haven't gotten an update on Fusco but heard initially he would be back around Utica/Ithaca. Hopefully Naton can be back for Utica. If not I think Ithaca after the BYE is the target...

Going forward I think Fiutko just has to manage the game this week, hand the ball off to Smith and get the ball to Coon/Collichio...

If they can go 1-1 over the next two weeks I'll be happy with it considering all of the circumstances surrounding the offense. Go 1-1 and get Naton back for the final 3 weeks to try and set up a E8 championship game vs AU...

I am hopeful that given enough time to plan and practice- this team comes thru the adversity 2-0 not 1-1
The absolute LAST thing i want to see is a loss to UC in Utica!

Even were AU 9-0 and Fisher 8-1, it would still be playing for the AQ (and a co-championship)....
But there's plenty of football to be played and high hurdles to clear.

That's basically where I was going with it Pep.

I see AU at 9-0 going into week 10, they are probably the best team in the E8. Their defense has been extremely impressive and Johnson has been extremely efficient with his arm and deadly with his running. He has turned the ball over only once in 5 games this year which I think is the most important thing for him and the team.

The defense is going to have to play better than they have to go into Utica and shut down that offense enough for Fisher's offense to make up for the lack of Naton, Fusco and Chambers.

"7. Fake Team Boltus (2-2): Statement game this week"

I think the 2008 ECAC game where Brockport beat Team Boltus 70-68 somehow imprinted the soul of Team Boltus into Brockport's football DNA. Boltus was like "You may have beaten us , but may my Curse of Potent Offense combined with zero defense forever be on your soul !"  And their football destinies were forever intertwined until the curse is broken somehow. This is without a doubt, the best post I've ever seen on this board

So this "horrible" Fisher Defense...

2015 (Mike Fox DC)
29 minutes on the field per game
26.7 pts
370 yds per game.
32 rushing attempts per game-109 yards (3.4 ypc) and 12 rushing TDs
260 pass yards (7.5 ypa) and 24 TDs.
39 TDs allowed and 22 turnovers in 11 games.

2016 (Chris Keyes DC)
35 minutes on the field per game
23.4 pts
387 yds per game.
45 rush attempts per game- 165 yards (3.6 ypc) and 12 rushing TDs
222 pass yds (6.6 ypa) and 3 TDs
15 TDs allowed and 11 forced turnovers in 5 games.

I fail to see how this year's defense is worse than last years and should be labeled as the worst defense since 1991 when last year's defense was arguably worse.

That's what I keep saying.  Plus last year's stats would have been even worse had they not shut out a terrible Alfred State team and the recently anemic Ithaca offense.

They've also played a triple option team and the running version of Team Boltus that skew the rushing numbers...

They're not 2006 but by God they're not a team that gets 71 put up on them...

Look- I think that we all see that mid relief is having a coronary about the D- why I still do not know.
Lets get thru these next few games with a solid performance and move into position to get our starters healthy and primed for a shot at the title!

As a Fisher fan I have learned never to look down the road in this league. Especially with so many injuries to key guys. I hope the defense can hold Morrisville under 20 this week, and if they do I think Fisher will win. I have faith in Chris Smith as a running back (don't forget how successful he was a couple years ago with Fusco and Chambers healthy). It just comes down to a freshman at QB, and if he can avoid costly mistakes. I have a feeling Morrisville will bring pressure and try to confuse him. Luckily Fisher has some playmakers at receiver where Fiutko can make some manageable throws, get the ball into their hands, and let them make plays.

I like Fisher at home this week, but take nothing for granted in the E8
GO FISHER!!!
