Fisher in a nail biter ---------21-17 over AU

Dont laugh...I wanted Fisher to throw 70 on 'Wick and...........

Oh deer, you came up short! Pep wishes he had come up short of hitting that big doe yesterday. Yikes! Pep drives 8,235 miles from coast-to-coast in his PT Cruiser without incident, then just outside of Hornell on I-86, a deer jumps into my lane and gives Pep that "deer in the headlights" stare....no time to brake, no time to swerve....BAM! Up over the car, landing on the side of the road, bouncing off into a ditch. I hit a deer with my first PT Cruiser, too.....been told the PT Cruisers are deer magnets. Dang it all, Pep loves deer!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

You gonna have the Cruiser back by saterday so you can run down a cardinal or any other red bird before the game?
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Pep, hope you are ok. I hit a dear years ago and it was not fun.

good luck to both Alfred and Fisher this week.  Should be a good game.  It would be very impressive if the Saxons go undefeated this year.  Fisher has done a nice job of recovering from the injury issues they had earlier in the year.  Thinking the Saxons win, but would not be stunned if Fisher pulls it out.

Pep is fine. Better now after talking with my insurance agent who assured me I had comprehensive coverage on the PT Cruiser. (It was the old 1999 PepBandwagon that's still in use at Pep's place that has only liability.)

And yeah, Wesleydad, it's been a pretty good season for the Saxons, well, at least on paper.  ;)   Glad to see your Wolverines are returning to form. Hoping some East Region teams make some noise in the playoffs!

Pep, I've only had close calls with deer for the last 40+ years, but hit one in northern Wisconsin maybe 45 years ago.  I was somewhat distraught reporting it to the nearest ranger station, but he said he had totaled three trucks in the last five years with collisions (about two a year). :o  He assured me (since I was able to tell him pretty exactly where the hit occurred) that the venison would (if possible) be given to a food bank.  I was driving a frickin' tank at the time (1967 Plymouth Fury 3) and escaped with nothing more than a punctured radiator - which was fixed with a single can of radiator sealant! :)

Glad you all got out fine - how is the PT Cruiser?

D O.C.

Try hitting a Western Mule Deer - much larger than....oh,never mind.
Glad that Pep is OK.
I've got to know! Airbag open?

Thanks for asking. Insurance agent confirmed that I have comprehensive insurance on the Cruiser. It's a 2002 with 162,700 miles. Had completed an 8,235 mile cross-country trip this summer. The right headlight and panel were damaged, with the panel shoved obstructing the tire, the hood shoved back somewhat obstructing front doors, and radiator punctured. Air bags did NOT release. No one was hurt. All is well. Pep still has his 2001 PT Cruiser (navy blue) for parts so there's a good chance it can be salvaged.

Pep first drove a 1964 Plymouth Fury....they built them like tanks back then! Eight cylinders of power and Pep flew along the Finger Lakes backroads back and forth from Alfred to Morrisville his first year of college. Fun drive!

Yeah, first time I took the Fury 3 out on the highway (US 23 north of Ann Arbor - an expressway), the road was empty.  I wasn't even meaning to speed (much ;)), but suddenly noticed the scenery was passing awfully quickly!  Speedometer 'only' went to 140 - needle was past that!  That Chrysler 383 was one hell of an engine! :o  But the ride was so danged smooth I thought I was going about 75!  I still miss "Big Red". :(  Bought the car with 90,000 on the odometer - everyone thought I was crazy.  I put another 140,00 miles on it (with very little maintainence) before the body gave out.

Yeah I'm all for letting guys play, but when a DB is on his ass after the WR runs directly through him or pushes him down then there is a problem...

If there ever was a week where Fisher's Defense is needed it's this one...

Stack the box and make Johnson beat you with his arm...

Hey Upstate, you watch a lot of the Fisher games and know the intricacies of football much more than I do...why doesn't the defense do more press coverage with the cornerbacks and have the safeties help over the top?  I rarely see a wide receiver get separation from 7 and 17...but there are so many times a game where they will back off the receivers and give them 5-7 yards of cushion.  It's an easy pass off a quick throw by the QB.  Puts the defense in 2nd or 3rd and short where our suspect run defense comes into play.

Seems to me that pressing their receivers puts more responsibility on the strongest part of our defense, will potentially give the D-line more time to pressure the QB, make those easy gimmie throws not so easy, etc.

Depends on a lot...

Are they sending pressure, is it man or zone, what the down and distance is, film study and offensive tendancies...

Fisher was a predominantly cover 3 zone team when I was there under Faggiano and he had his guys play off a lot...

I personally like press man but that's just me...
The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

I prefer cover read two, where the corner either plays the flat or switch to cover 4/man on deep routes. However, you have to get pressure to on the QB to win those big games and letting teams play pitch and catch can be demoralizing to the defense if those catches are consistenly  4 to 6 yard catches. At some point you have to mix it up. The good teams do it well mixing it up and disguising the coverage.
