Dlip would love to see the Bombers kick the piss out of the Red Dragons.

Let's go Bombers!

Bombers are going to take care of business and send Welch out on top (in a metaphorical sense).

23-17 Ithaca.

Good luck to the Bombers and Welch in his last game.......congrats for grinding it out this season when things were looking bleak...says a lot about Welch and the team

Pep can't remember whether he's ever seen a "two-deep" produced by the AU SID. In checking the program from the Saxons vs. Brockport game, AU traditionally lists game notes along with "about the teams" together with a starting line-up. Can't really call it gamesmanship if that's the way it has always been done.

Pep,
Fisher has been putting a 2 deep together this year in the game notes.
Been helpful finding out who was winning spots or dinged up.
This week...nada

That's cool. AU doesn't do that....but Pep can guarantee you'll have a great seat behind your team at Yunevich Stadium from which you'll have an ideal view of the field.  ;)

Trust me pep- if there was a way to get the FA91 fam there and back to Utica by 5pm id consider it....
Ill settle for the Fisher all access and put my feet up on the fa91 couch with a cold Utica Club!

BTW, Pep would like to applaud Utica College for its installation of ADA friendly bleachers for the visitors at Gaetano Stadium. Pep didn't have the band there (although two kazoos were there and did okay) so that wasn't an issue. Despite arriving late due to a little incident with Bambi's big mama, there was sufficient seating that offered a fine view of the field. A nice improvement over Pep's last visit to Gaetano.

Thank you, Utica College!

I will say that the bleachers (visiting) were better than 2 years ago...
I just wish the outcome was better ;)

Game of the week. The Pep Boys Empire 8 Championship Game.  The one and only Championship fans have been waiting for all year.  It has been hinted at, talked  about,  and predicted  all season on these here boards. Now a reality. Fisher ventures deep into the heart of the Southern Tier lured by the siren song of Pep's band. Who will emerge from the murky depths ? The never say die Cardinals ? who have battled injuries, a shaky defense (and it's detractor), and a loss to it's own spawn : The Utica Pioneers ? Or the steady hand of senior QB  Tyler Johnson who has led this Saxons team for 4 seasons and was picked by many to be the favorite since Day one of the season ? Can they win just one more and go undefeated ? Or will they falter in their final task against a battle tested and worthy opponent ? They are about equal and opposite on offense. 2 senior QBs, Naton leads a more passing attack as SJF averages almost 300 yards a game passing. And they have quality receivers. Alfred has the top rushing attack. So I think their offenses are a wash. The difference is in the defenses. That Alfred D is shades of Dave Murray, and is the best unit in the conf.  So Alfred wins based on that advantage. But Fisher has an uncanny ability to win more often than not, so there's that.

I 90 Bowl. Brockport (6-3, 5-2) heads to Buff St (5-4, 3-4) . Buff St has won 5 of the last 6 meetings. Brockport's HC is from Buffalo so you know that eats at him. I keep waiting for Buff St to step up and play up to it's stats. I think Brockport awakens them and Buff St wins in a close one at home. Teams are evenly matched, especially Brockport's offense and Buff St's D. I say Buff St's offense barely outplays Brockport's D for the win.

Ithland Jug. In another evenly matched duel, Ithaca (5-4, 4-3) walks to Cortland (4-5, 2-5). Ithaca puts Cortland out of it's season of misery, in another close battle. Ithaca is the dark room negative of Team  Boltus. Ithaca's defense looks to make old LBers coach Welch proud by taking on and defeating an average Cortland offense. When Ithaca's offense takes on Cortland's defense Welch can only shut his eyes, which one will stink it up less ? So IC sends Welch out wilding in the streets of Cortland with a win on the backs of it's defense.

Afterthought Bowl. Hard for Utica (6-3, 4-3) to get up for this one. Who wants to end their season in  a dirty soccer cage (2-7, 1-6) ? Utica can only feel somewhat disappointed despite their solid record. Losses to Brockport and Ithaca kinda deflated any hopes of turning that SJF win into something. Utica's defense can handle the 7 on 7 offense of Hartwick, and they certainly can score on the 11 who will attempt to play defense. Big win for Utica Club.

Toilet Bowl. Morrisville (0-9, 0-8) vs The Washington Generals who actually have a win. Coach Fitz, just hand in your resignation and slink away if you can't get this one win. If you can't beat Alfred St..well there's nothing else.

Upstate

I feel that this game may go the way of the 2010 SJF/AU game.

SJF came in nationally ranked with a high powered offense that put up at least 34 points in their 7 previous games and just ran into a team that just had their number that day. AU had a pick 6 off of Bailey on the first offensive play for Fisher and they were playing catch up all game long. Defensively AU had the Cardinals on their heels as they racked up over 400 yards of offense. AU just has a knack for calling trick plays at just the right time vs the Cardinals. That WR jet sweep pass they ran that day was a thing of beauty and there was no cardinal anywhere in the area to make a play.

Fisher has to come out today and establish the run vs this really good AU defense. The guards have to play well for Fisher to move the ball today. If the AU DT's have their way with the Fisher guards it'll be a really long day for Naton and Fusco.

I'd still stack the box and make Johnson try and beat you through the air. He hasn't shown that he's a QB that can consistently beat you through the air. He's a dual threat QB but is by far a better runner than passer. If he beats you through the air then oh well, just don't let him run wild.

Hoping for the best today!

31-30 Fisher.
