Just saw that Alfred is rated 14 in National poll, I think they should be rated above Hopkins, frankly...I have not seen the team live, but this is a tough fundamental , hard hitting team with very strong lines that I think will play well against anyone, except maybe the speedsters at MHB ... OAC is not so scary this year...and they might even surprise the WIAC and MIAC.I hope the Saxons prove it in the playoffs

It's fun to see where the 25 pollsters place various teams but Pep contends that the only poll that really matters is this coming Saterday (speaking from week to week) whether AU will be #1 or #2. Should the Saxons keep getting the #1 ranking on the field week after week after week, sooner or later it will all get sorted out.

It sure was fun seeing a shiftload of former Saxon players at the game Saterday....from the 50s, the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s....and plenty from this century as well! Certainly gives these current Saxons a picture of the extended family of which they are a part.

Announced attendance was 5,105....the largest, loudest crowd at an AU football team in quite some time. Pep will need to check some sources for the last AU football game to attract more than 5,000.

On Saxon Warriors!

Congrats to Alfred on running the table (a rarity, it seems lately, or at least it feels that way, in the E8). Nice season, keep it up. I'm expecting big things! Hopefully Mount Union's loss doesn't end up with you in the same bracket with them again. Although this time Alfred would be hosting. That would be interesting.

Good luck to St. John Fisher who may or may not get in the playoffs. I would contend that UW-Platteville's two losses are better cumulatively so it might be an uphill battle. However d3football.com has you in with the projections. Should be interesting in about an hour.

AU is the first E8 team to go 10-0 right?

Seems like this might be true. I didn't look it up but if it wasn't Fisher I don't think anyone else has in the last decade. Did Ithaca ever do it in E8 infancy?

pg04

Ithaca went 4-0 in conference early on in the E8 but never won all their games in a season since they came into the E8.

Alfred is in rarefied air.

UPDATE: Springfield went 10-0 in 2003. Haha. Still, been a while.

Springfield didn't join the E8 until 2004...the Pride was in the former Freedom Football Conference back then.

Oy! they were included in the E8 for some reason on this site.

Congrats to AU, looks like a great bracket. Hopefully Bart or JHU takes out MUC for you!

I was going to say, ALfred has a really favorable bracket... if it wasn't for the other purple team..

wesleydad

Alfred gets a favorable bracket for the first 2 games.  Then it will time to play.  Good luck.

I'm glad Alfred did get some "spoils" for going undefeated in such a difficult league. Was worried they might be the ones who got Mount Union!

Sorry Fisher didn't get in, but the WIAC train was gonna be hard to derail.

As soon as they laid the egg in Utica they set themselves up for this outcome...
