What happened with Alfred? Is RPI that good? The Saxons fall apart? We need a win v Brockport out of them! At least this past weekend was a non league contest.

RPI is a solid team. You don't beat solid teams with six interceptions and a fumble. Enough said. On Saxon Warriors...o'er every adversity!!

If someone was a retired engineer and prone to looking into details, he would find in the box score, under starters, that Alfred only fielded ten players on offense v RPI.   :)

Call me optimistic but if the Buff State activities these past 2 days ( fantastic pep rally yesterday and equally spirited parade today ) are any indication of the support the team will get this weekend, well call me encouraged!  I've never seen this level of excitement on campus in the past 12 years !  Coaches and players realize that possibly the toughest opponent to step foot on Coyer Field since the current Biyes tenure, means even a perfect game might not even guarantee a win! I'm not predicting a win ( I think that's both bush league and disrespectful) but I am looking forward to watching Saturday's game!  Hope I'm feeling same way come 4th quarter!

Fisher making dumb decisions all around...

They have Cortland on their heels in the redzone trailing 14-7 and looking to tie it up...

Chambers powers his way down to the 2 yard line to set up first and goal...

Then they do a wholesale change to a jumbo package, they end up getting called for an illegal substitution so now it's first and goal on the 7...

They go nowhere and try a FG only to have it blocked....

Cortland ends up driving down the field for a subsequent TD to make it 21-7 at the half...

It's really apparent just how bad this coaching staff is when they don't have a star QB like Bailey or Fenti to bail them out...

Fisher wins!
Congrats to Fisher on win today. Brockport continues to roll.

Thank you, St. John Fisher Cardinals, for keeping the Saxons alive for the AQ. Mind you, Brockport State (and 'wick) still stand in the way, but Cortland, which had the head-to-head advantage over AU, now has two conference losses.

Pep has asked AU's "Dr. D" to pitch a shutout against Brockport State next week. He says he's on it.

On, Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

Never felt so let down as a proud alumni than after today. Gonna go back to hiding under my rock. Congrats to the  Fisher players for  not quitting when  down 21-7.
Taste It!

Feel good about the seniors, along with Coach Mervis, going out with a win. Chambers was a beast all day. It's a thing of beauty to watch him get going in the open field.

On, Saxon Warriors!

Dr D has his work cut out for him!  Saw the Golden Eagles up close and personal yesterday. Scary good on both sides of the ball!   Many Bengal faithful were shocked by how complete a team Brockport was. Congrats to the Golden Eagles.... and good luck to Peps Dr D.  He's gonna need it !

Go BENGALS!!

Not quite sure what to say after Sat afternoons turn of events.
Im really happy for the Seniors who had a last home game turn out to be a win.
Im happy that he alma mater didnt stink up the place and tuck tail after the disaster of a 1st half.
I guess my question is this---going forward what has to change to right the ship?
I honestly have no idea.
The quickest and easiest jump to a conclusion would be a coaching change.
Is that the solution?
I have no idea.
I dont want a band aid.
I want the cut to heal, albeit with a scar.

I was going to respond to FA91, but honestly, at this point, to paraphrase Sports Night, the amount of time we've spent on Fisher this year is way out of proportion to the amount of time we should be spending on a team that's 2-6.

I'm more excited about two things:

1. We have a default playoff game for Alfred next week. I can't imagine them pulling this off, given the struggles in the passing game but I still think it's great to have a matchup with everything on the line.

2. How special can this Brockport team be? Forget 10-0 and a #1 seed. That's been done. This team is just insanely, insanely good.

They get after the passer (36 sacks!)
Their QB is never touched (4 sacks allowed).
They're insanely good on 3rd down (52%).
You can't run on them (even taking out sack yardage, they allow less than 3 YPC)
They've got four talented pass catchers and a great RB (although he did not have a carry on Saturday. Is he hurt?)

Is this finally the East team to break through and take down one of the powers?

Bombers-
totally get it.
I am a little focused on the alma mater and not on a bigger E8 picture.
That said---does Brockport get the seed from the east if they win out?
And i ask the same question---do they beat a purple power?

The debate will be who is 1 or 2 between them and Del Val.  Brockport lacks the signature win that Del Val has over Wesley so Del Val may be slotted 1.  I can tell you this, I would love to see Wesley play them or Del Val again.  The east has some strong teams as they are starting to stack up.  If the final 4 in the east bracket, I know they dont do that anymore, was Brockport, Wesley, Del Val, and Frostburg, that would make for some good games.  Unfortunately with Husson in the mix someone is going to have to play someone good in round 1 if it gets slotted that way.

Maybe they ship Husson somewhere unless they can play Springfield without flying which I believe they can.
