RB Justin Morrison back atop the 2 deep vs Wesley.
Viewer,
Great news....I think they have a good chance this weekend and that is no small feat against Wesley. Good luck, I watched the team live against Hobart and Ithaca , and was very impressed but this will be the Alfred game with 10 times the intensity....I think Germinerio and Morrison will not disappoint, but the key will be how well the defense can contain the Wesley offense...Good luck

D3MAFAN nailed it here.  LL/E8/NJAC are practically identical, the top teams in each league would be highly competitive against each other.  End of season records come down to only a few important plays that determine games.  Wesley is 10 points away from going 7-2 (compared to 9-0) in conference, and missing the playoffs completely.   Hobart is 8 points away from being 5-0 (compared to 3-2), and heading to playoffs.  Does that mean the 9-1 Wolverines would blow the doors off of the 7-3 Statesman? I am sure Brockport-Wesley will be a phenomenal game, but will probably come down to a few key plays that tip the game to the winner.  This is why D3 Football is awesome!

Really, Wesley has made the D3 Tournament THIRTEEN YEARS IN A ROW!!!

Here is what I posted on the NJAC board about the game this weekend.  Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

This is going to be a good game.  If you look at the Hansen Rating gadget that has been included on D3 that allows you to compare both teams it shows that they are basically statistically even.  Brockport holds a minimal edge in more categories but so slight that it does not seem anything stands out as a glaring advantage.  Wesley has made the final 16 13 straight years, but this is a new year and other than the coaches having an idea of how to handle the team over the Thanksgiving break, which may be a bigger thing than most think, it really means nothing except that Wesley has been very good for a long time.  Wesley has been slow starting in enough games and trailed at halftime against Del Val 22 - 3, Frostburg 10 - 7, Montclair St 7 - 3, Salisbury 20 - 13, and RPI 20 - 17.  Final scores Del Val wins 24 - 19, Wesley wins the rest, beat Frostburg in OT 27 - 24, Montclair St. 26 - 7, Salisbury 30 - 20, and RPI 45 - 27.  So if Wesley is close with Brockport at halftime it would look like they have a better than average chance of winning the game.  Looking at Brockport, Game 1 they were tied with Hobart at 20 in the second half despite Hobart playing a horrible first half but the Eagles score the last 2 TD's to win 34 - 20.  They trailed Cortland 31 - 24 mid way in the third, scored the next 28 points and won the game easily.  They held a 28 - 10 lead against Alfred, Alfred climbs back into it at 28 - 25 but Brockport scores the last TD to win 35 - 25.  So it looks like Brockport knows how to finish games off against the top teams they played.  Things I know are going to happen in this game.  The Wesley defense is going to look lost early in the game, they always seem to, and will give up plenty of yards and plays and it will look like they will have no chance.  It may be the most frustrating, annoying, irritating thing about watching them.  But as you can see by the games mentioned, adjustments are made and they shut teams down.  Shutting Del Val and Salisbury out in the second half is no easy feat.  The offense will look mediocre early, they usually do and then WHAM, they score at will and bury teams.  EJ Lee will get yards or they better hope he does, if Brockport stops the run all day Wesley will be in trouble.  This is likely the best receiving group Brockport will have seen this year.  As usual games like this will come down to turnovers and penalties, both issues that Wesley has had in the past that have cost them games in the playoffs.  After all of this I just have a FEELING that Wesley is going to win the game.  Yep, just a feeling.  Wesley wins 38 - 32.

Brockport is 100% healthy for the first time in weeks. I wish I could fast forward to Saturday, it's gonna be a fun day. I think this is the day the the country will take notice just how good this Brockport team is. I think Brockport ends up with a little breathing room and wins 34-20. Brockport leads the country in sacks by a big margin and that will lead to some turnovers. Being #1 against the rush as well will make Wesley one dimensional. The Brockport offense is flat out nasty. I think Brockport makes a statement on sat, just a feeling.

If Brockport makes Wesley 1 dimensional then they will probably win easily.  Wesley's O line always seems to be an issue protecting the QB.  Based on the above information I am not sure how Wesley will score. ;D

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck to the Golden Eagles this weekend! Was happy to see my Brockport co- workers enjoy their success. As for my Red Dragons, 7-4 was an improvement from last season, but losing to SJF and Framingham St. was a real eye opener. Back to the cave until next August.

Congratulations to the Brockport Golden Eagles on your 49-28 win over a very good Wesley team. I was convinced since the Hobart game, when I watched this team live, that it was a very special D3 football team. You have everything to win the Stagg Bowl from a talent standpoint....the question will be whether you can limit the turnovers(a couple of mistakes today) and your coaching staff can make the right calls on offense and defense the way they did today...... and you play 4 quarters every week. Very proud of this New York State team....now make sure your heads don't get too large because Delaware Valley looks to be your equal, and you have to earn it on the road...Good luck next week

Congratulations to Brockport for their skillful handling of Wesley today.  You guys had the better team on the field today.  Good luck next week at Del Val.

It's nice to see a Mike Fox defense again.

With talent his defenses can absolutely shut teams down when playing with a lead.

It took a season to get the scheme down but a lot of these guys were the same guys allowing close to 28 pts a game last year.

I'd love to see him back at Fisher again, I just don't think he'd be able to get the talent there that he has at Brockport.

Because of the whole public versus private school costs topic?

The $23,000 difference per year is a big one yes...

Course offerings and admission requirements also come into play...

Based on 2014 data, the acceptance rate at BP was 49%, SJF was 68%. Most SUNY schools are actually harder to get into than private schools.
