RE: Fisher D

I remember a few seasons ago when I said to a fellow onlooker is it me or is Fisher's D suddenly playing like UofR?  Only to be informed that the DC was a UofR guy....   with each passing game and season, the performance of the D has only gotten worse.

Something has to change here

The DC played DB at Fisher you twit...

And at Fisher and a bunch of other places...

Where he coached has nothing to do with this Defense, however Vos's love for the 3-3 stack does...

Also, Fisher should stop worrying about how many different uniform combos they can come up with and maybe find some offensive and defensive lineman who can open holes and stop the run....

I gotta give coach Boyd's credit.  Showed some stones at Bridgewater state.  Scored with 27 seconds left to get within 1.  Down 29-30, they go for 2 .....and come up short.  I give them credit for going for the win and believing that they could get it done.  Hopefully next week doesn't come down to last 27 seconds

Go BENGALS!

If you want to vote on the East Region Fan Poll message me with your votes.  I will do the collection and post it, hopefully by Tuesday.

Official Empire 8 Players of the Week. Cortland nabs 2 of 3 spots.

Football Offensive Player – Cortland
Brett Segala, Junior, QB – Webster, NY/ Webster Schroeder

Segala passed for 257 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for a score in Cortland's season-opening 51-14 win at Fitchburg State. He amassed the 257 yards on just 11 completions (in 18 attempts), with five completions of 30 or more yards. His TD passes covered 14, 40, 51 and 67 yards, including three in the first quarter to give Cortland an early 21-0 lead. His 10-yard TD run pushed the lead to 28-0 in the third quarter.

Football Defensive Player – Alfred
Cole Reed, Senior, LB – Gratz, PA/ Upper Dauphin Area

Cole Reed led the Saxons with 11 tackles, a half a sack, and one pass deflection in a win over Thiel on Saturday. He terrorized the opposing quarterback throughout the game, rushing him out the pocket and hitting him on the throw multiple times. Reed also orchestrated the AU defense as the captain that held Thiel to 10 yards rushing in the game.

Football Special Teams Player – Cortland
Nick Mongelli, Junior, K – Marlboro, NY/Marlboro

Mongelli made a 32-yard field goal and 6-of-7 PAT kicks in Cortland's 51-14 win at Fitchburg St.

DO YOU WANT A VOICE E8?
I'm sure many of you who are E8 fans and post on this board also read the East Region Fan Poll each week. This year wesleydad has graciously stepped forward to compile the polling data. I've decided to participate in the poll and since I'm a Union fan I feel I'm representing the Liberty League perspective. We need an Empire 8 guy in the mix. Currently the poll is slanted strongly towards the NJAC with three pollsters being fans of NJAC teams. There's one MAC fan and one MASCAC. let's hear from you. I don't want to be the only New York voice. I know you all want the E8 represented. It takes a minimal commitment.

E 8 slate

12PM   Catholic U (DC) 0-1 @ Utica 1-0. Not a good week for the Church. Utica defrocks  the Catholics.
12PM    Framingham St (MA) 1-0   @ Cortland 1-0.   Good matchup. Fram was 10-1 last season. But Cortland offense too much at home.
12Pm   Morrisville St 1-0  @ Hobart 0-1.     I'm going with the veteran QB for Morr who had 300 yards passing and 4 Tds last week (even tho against Norwich). New Hobart regime gets no benefit of the doubt
until they prove themselves on the field.
1PM     Buff St 0-1 @    Yo "Adrian" (MI) 0-1.    Very close to call. I'll say  "Yo Adrian" wins at home . Buff St 0-2 to start the season ?
1PM     Brockport  1-0  @ Ithaca   1-0    Game of the week. Early season New York State Bowl game. IMO 2 best teams in each conf. Good showdown of the top 2 NY QBs. At IC only adds to the intrigue. I say
the Brockport D is the difference. Should be fun to watch.  Almost perfect football weather forecast.
5PM      Alfred St 0-1 @ Hartwick 1-0.   YAWN game of the week.  Nobody puts Team Boltus in the corner this early in the season at home. Showtime !

Bye Byes : Alfred 1-0 and Fisher 0-1

D3 viewer- I like most of the picks - but needed clarification on the Hartwick one.
While I think that wick will beat Alfred St., nobody puts team boltus in the corner?
If there is sarcasm or nuance that Im missing, I apologize- but this is a team that squeaked by a team from a so so conference that went winless last year.
I know team Boltus, and this sir is no team Boltus. ::)

Well. the term Team Boltus is used as substitute for Hartwick. I didn't realize they had to have a super passer at the immediate helm for usage of that term. It seems to refer to a particular Hartwickian mindset of big offense, no defense. if you diasagree tell me how to correctly use it then ?

The idea of the remark about the corner, is just  about the concept of "Hartwick" (better ?) usually winning early season games to inflate their record/ stats to give the appearance of  having a better team then they really are, so even tho they barely beat Wilkes (on the road) they still averaged 6.4 yards per play of offense and 15 yards a completion, kinda their MO. So it would then follow the "script" they would schedule another soft opponent in Alfred St, to continue the inflation of their ability/prowess. So the "nobody puts baby in the corner" is an allusion to the early season inflation of Hartwick, almost as if it's calculated on their part (scheduling, etc, or follows a particular script each season). These things sound a bit dumb when explained. Just kind of a tongue in cheek joke that was typed out in about 5 minutes. This explanation was way longer than the actual blurb. ::)

I enjoyed the rebuttal more than the orig. post ;D

well played!
