Dragons and Saxons in a close one from I've seen! Keep grinding! Morrisville leading Utica...didn't think that would happen but there is still lots left to play!

Let Pep be the first to congratulate Coach Curt FitzPatrick (you still reading these posts, pal?) and the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland for clinching the Empire 8 Championship Saterday at Merrill Field in Yunevich Stadium. Pep has been told that the band is always good for 7 points for the Saxons....well, on Saterday, the band was so good we ended up with 8! And I couldn't be prouder of the Saxons and the fight put up against Cortland. Keep working, keep fighting on, Saxon Warriors!

Wishing the Red Dragons all the best the rest of the way. Have fun in Yankee Stadium....and take it deep into the NCAA Tournament.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Saw little if anything mentioned of Cortland winning convincingly without standout rb J. Alfansostjohn. Wasn't listed in pregame two-deep lineups --- believed to be withheld by minor ailment. Wasn't mentioned by Alfred video announcers. Mattered little since A. Capone filled the void with record 47 carries for 282 rushing yards.
RDragons controlled the game although falling short on several drives. Saxons could have posed more of a threat with any semblance of a passing game ....had receivers open often.

Put the Cortland game in and saw it was 49-0 Dragons at just over midway through the 3rd quarter! Wow!

Cortland joined by Empire 8's Utica in the playoffs which open Saturday. Cortland traveling to 10-0 Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in Ashland VA. Surprising selection Utica heads to 10-0 Susquehanna PA.
   Ithaca home to 9-1 UMass-Dartmouth.

Cortland/Randolph Macon winner draws Delaware Valley/Gallaudet winner; Utica/Susquehanna winner meets Mt Union/Salisbury winner.
Cortland and Utica on same side of the bracket and same quadrant.
Ithaca on other side of the bracket and winner of first round game faces Endicott/Springfield survivor

Good luck to the E8 teams Cortland and Utica in the NCAA's....your league is represented well in the post season this year. Hoping the LL and E8 teams can have some success this year in NCAAs and ECACs.

After last week, I'm feeling a little down. Definitely wanted the Cortaca win and undefeated season, but I suppose getting a wake up call before the second season isn't a bad thing either! Hope the Dragons are snorting fire this week and come out blazing! One week at a time and what a great week to get back on track! We have scored more than RM but they have given up a few less points. Nobody really playing lights out defense in Va. Cortland is abusing RMC down the field and has over 300 yards of offense in the first half. RMC held to 3rd and longs and convert and several conversions were long TDS. Battle of ball control v big plays. Both teams have some wild offensive stats, just coming from different ways! 28-21 Dragons currently.

That stings. Couldn't have imagined such a poor 2nd half performance! Not to say RMC wasn't good, but we executed at a low. Ugh. Congrats to Utica on their performance. Until next season! Back to the Dragons Den for a long Winter!

Hello Utica fans . Congrats on making the playoffs and the second round.
As a ex western New York resident I grew up drinking cheap beer. I was wondering if any fan coming to Mount could bring a case of Utica Club with them ?  If this is a possibility , please PM me. Thanks ahead of time. B

Raider-in law another +k, and  if Utica beats the Raiders, you'll need a lot more than one case of Utica Club . If Utica wins , and overcomes the massive point spread, I'll personally offer a few kegs of Genny Cream Ale(the champagne of western NY beer) as a sign of regional beer solidarity for the Pioneers. Go Pioneers !

I think one of my favorite things about the d3 football community is the postseason bootlegging operations that go around in the Midwest and upstate NY territories... ;D

Word on the street is Cortland is opening with Del Val and then picks up Susquehanna down the road. Mix in Utica, IC and Brockport and that's a loaded schedule!
