Word on the street is Cortland is opening with Del Val and then picks up Susquehanna down the road. Mix in Utica, IC and Brockport and that's a loaded schedule!

That is a tough schedule!!!

That's a very nice schedule bump from Cortland. Three OOC opponents who made the playoffs. That's a team aiming to make a deep NCAA run

Ha yea nice win.  That sounds like a lot of fun.  I would have loved to have played a Canadian rules game when I was in college.

Saxons had such good success in Ottawa that rumor has it that they plan to use 12 players throughout their 2023 season!!

Saxons, sporting white helmets, had the Saxon logo on one side, the American flag on the other.

Glad to see national outlets jumping on the story as well.

Fair enough. I just saw it pop up in my news feed. Didn't check if you had done the story earlier.

I am guessing most of those outlets didn't bother to go back to the school for information about heat guidelines, which we put in our story:

Although Morrisville has played home night games in the past, all four home games for the Mustangs this season start at noon or 1 p.m., in the heat of the day. And now, those games will be played on black turf. As far as the heat issue goes, the department provided the following response to D3sports.com's question: "In all cases our athletic training staff follows, and will continue to follow, a heat policy that was developed from the NATA best practices document and adjustments are made as needed by monitoring the universal wet bulb globe temperature."

NATA recommendations are clear as day about restricting activity with the wet bulb temp during practice, but as soon as it gets to GameDay, go ahead!!!
Unless I am wrong, once game day arrives there is no wet bulb policy.

90 degrees at game time? No worries!

Can anyone shed more light on this policy?

Cheers!

Pat Coleman

As far as I know, only the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has a game-day wet bulb policy.

I see stuff like this and I think just how stupid it is. Then I remember the Huntingdon College away locker room. Too small for the whole visiting team, not air conditioned, in South Alabama. Basically a sweltering concrete block bunker. And I remember watching teams huddle under the few shade trees they can find or head back to the buses at halftime, defense on one, offense on the other, to try and regroup instead of going back to the locker room. It's been a few years, so maybe they've updated it since the last time I was down there, but that was/is an embarrassment to fair play.

I guess there are worse things than black turf. At least that applies to both teams equally, and it's in the Northeast instead of the South, even if I do think it's idiotic. Might save on snow clearing later in the season though, and early for the spring sports!
