That's part of it, but honestly, this is sort of what I expected. Cortland didn't just lose two really productive WRs last year. They lost two WRs that were simply a level above what you see at D3. Having them both on the field at the same time, with that much development under them, was just unheard of. They really were kind of a cheat code.

They survived, and frankly, they should beat Springfield next week. But they're not winning a shootout with North Central

I hope they can beat Springfield! SC seemed vulnerable defensively today against a similar offensive scheme that doesn't have nearly the players. If these guys can put it together, 40 points shouldn't be difficult.

The Cortland D played very well against an offense that has been consistently consistent....and frankly, the Cortland D won the day today. Next week is a totally different beast. I think we have the beef, athletes, and know how to shut the option down.

I won't comment on NC unless we get that far!

Fran...Any game notes yet? Love reading them each week! Not sure if I missed them or not, but have any names been released for the Gagliardi Trophy yet?

absolutely wild one so far. Always impressed that Cortland has gotten Charlie Day to do their play-by-play for them.

Special teams disaster so far. Give up a long KO after a quick score . Fumble the ensuing KOR. Looks like they gave up. Imploding!

I am not sure who is going to win this game, but I am now very certain that whoever wins, they have no chance of staying within 40 points of North Central next week.

Awful game all around. Sloppy play

My perhaps not unobvious taken :

As great at Boyes is, Cortland just doesn't have the playmakers on the outside anymore. Iadevieo's injury is really catching up with them. We've seen it three weeks in a row now. Boyes threw for fewer than 100 yards against Ithaca, barely broke 100 against Endicott, and outside of the first pass of the game, has been largely shut down here.

Pride get ABSOLUTELY HOSED with what appears to be a no call intentional grounding. Brutal.

Of course Cortland scores at the end of the half after that brutal no call. Closest Cortland receiver on that play was at Butterfield stadium...

And Cortland makes them pay, as Boyes finally gets it going. 27-21 at the half.

As dicey as the no call was, Springfield had them at a 3rd and 15 and failed to get the stop. We hear a lot about how triple option teams have a ceiling in the playoffs. But it's not going to be the offense if they don't advance today

IC798891

I wonder if the sleeping Dragon has awoken in Cortland. Boyes is dealing. Cortland is now winning 28-27

UnrelateD: I'm always surprised triple option teams aren't going for 2 more. I feel like that's a hard offense to stop for a yard or less.

Ice Bear

Unreal. The Pride just pounding and going opposite direction twice. Once for a huge gain and then for a TD. If they hold on this would be a gigantic win for the Pride.
