If a three way tiebreaker is indeed still determined by Quality of Wins Index, Springfield should be in the drivers seat.

Buff State losing games to teams like Willy P is not helping Ithaca's case.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Yet another reason that this season may very well come right down to Cortaca.

Of course, all this assuming that IC will beat Springfield is making me very nervous.......

What's the status on former president Andrew Jackson? Does he look good to come back next week? (Although if the Fisher game is any clue, it might not matter.)

John McGraw

Jackson didn't play against St. John Fisher yesterday. I'm not entirely sure on what his status is. The way that his back-up, Dante Calabrese, was running the football, SC didn't really miss him. Springfield has about five or six guys that can carry the football so if they're missing one player, unless its Chris Sharpe, they're not going to miss much of a beat.

Actually, I think the scheme itself is what will beat/ (or lose to) Springfield.  Im not saying that Ithaca can suprise SC with a defense that its never seen, but I think sound play by the olbs/DEs can make a difference in this game.

Lets remember.  Springfield has been running the same offense against Ithaca since the 1970s.  Ithaca knows what is comming.  Can the OLBs/Des be ready for the task?  Will SC fumble 4-8 times a game like they usually do against IC?  How many of those fumbles will be lost?

I wouldn't necessarily say it's the scheme that will do Springfield in, but more of the execution by the players. Staying on assignments, making good tackles, and not biting on fake hand-offs. A lot of that did Fisher in yesterday. Ithaca will also have to do a better job in the trenches that Fisher did. Springfield's offensive line absolutely dominated the Fisher front four. There were a few stops in the backfield and no gain's, but for the most part, when SC needed a yard or two, their offensive line got it. SC only made one turnover but did account for three fumbles. An interception against them is rare since they won't throw the ball that much if at all. Sharpe threw three passes yesterday, one for a TD (called back on a hold) and another for a long gain.

More on the game later.

Ok I had a night to sleep on it.....

It hurts even more......

Chris Sharpe for president?

Well, at least it makes it interesting.  I get to see a great game this weekend.  I am sorry I haven't been on but swamped withwork.  I will see you all on the 28th.

Go Bombers

New England basically surrenders that drive... that is, Tom Brady FORFEITS HIS RIGHT TO RUN OR THROW THE FOOTBALL ON THIRD DOWN, and the Bills still f*** it up. This is getting downright awful to watch every week.

Springfield is a totally different animal at Butterfield

Just throw in the towel...it's not worth it any longer.  I'm glad I live somewhere that shows other games...

Kramer got hurt early in the 3rd qtr - took a pretty good shot on a broken play and was slammed to the ground. Not certain about length of time he'll be out or what exactly the injury was...

Anyone hear?

I think the grass is far more likely to be a factor than a possibly different defensive scheme.

Agreed Pat,

But Sharpe seems to be executing the system better...or maybe they have made some adjustments that have helped.....last year at Springfiled was no walk in the park...and this will be one huge measuring stick for both teams.

They come strong every play on offense....

After several yaers of playing each other it will come down to execution...I think  both coaches probably have a pretty good feel for the other teams/personnel.

QUESTION:

Has Springfield seen the 3-4 D yet this year?  I know we're well into the season, but do they know whats coming at them, or could they be another Huntingdon?

Rowdy,
I only wish Springfield was Huntington..they are for real....THIS will be one heck of a football game....

I can guarantee the grass will not be cut this week. They probably cut it this past Thursday or Friday. I sincerely doubt the same will be done this week. That field is going to be shaggy. That's what the home field advantage is all about.
A 2004 graduate of the "almighty legendary" Ithaca College. Goooooo Bombers.

I think Ithaca needs to pull one out to make this game a "measuring stick" or "one heck of a game." I'm behind the Bombers 100% here, but I think IC fans that don't realize Springfield should be favored pretty substantially in this game are kidding themselves.

The IC defense is solid, but has proven to be shaky when momentum builds up against them; they are susceptible to the big drive. Juvan is a good QB that, if SC's defense is as bad as advertised, can but points on the board for IC, but IC's offense just hasn't been the guarantee SC's has.

In short, whereas many predicted that the Fisher-SC game would come down to turnovers, I think this one will come down to turnovers... and whether IC can play their best game of the season.

The grass will help, but an athlete like Sharpe could perform on a moonwalk if he had to. It's gonna take more than the mowing. Rain would help!
