SJF and AU both played SC similiarly....Neither team led, was always one step behind, or score rather.  Both games were close but I think SC felt better about the AU game  since they scored a touchdown with time running out.  The SJF game was in hand with about 3? 4? minutes left but the whole neither team playing defense was kind of absurd.  Either way neither matter unless SC beats IC

If Fisher wins out and finishes 9-1 will they make the D3 tournament? I think they will b/c of the QOWI and beating Alfred who right now has 1 loss. If it ends up  being a three way tie, I think Springfield has the advantage.

A lot of that depends on whether IC wins out, and how convincingly. Read the last six or seven pages for complete thoughts.

Jose- Us Fisher folk are rootin for you guys-hope the grass is knee deep !!!

We appreciate it, but best I can tell it would be in your Pool C interests for us to lose.  Although, it may not matter as we could still be the odd man out in a three team tie.

I wish I could see a D3 game..Haven't seen one in 2 years.  Being in Florida is not advantageous for that.  Maybe they should move the Stagg bowl here for no real logical reason other than good weather (Note I know there are no schools here and it doesn't make sense)

I like D3 as much as anybody but count your blessings Portgrad.  Not only are you in the greatest state in the nation but, you are in college football mecca.  Case in point, Maxpower is going to have to text me Bomber updates Saterday because JoseQViper will be attending The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

In other words, morning shift getting an early start.

Unfortunately Jose we are never on at the same time but My co-worker went to Georgia and I ALMOST went to the game this weekend. Unfortunately  I have some family stuff that gets in the way!   I'd love to go to that game.

Yeah right, College Football Mecca...if I want to see the thugs at Miami fight with the hooligans of FIU!

Weather for this weekend:

http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/sports/wxdetail/USNY0717?dayNum=3&from=weekend

90% chance of rain during the game. I'd say that has to fall in the Bombers' favor.

FDC, bundle up!

xdragon58

cstate19, before u get all crazy and give those tickets to the bombers i am sure i can get rid of them for you to some old red dragons.....we will be there in full effect like we are every year, so let me know
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

Let the SC-Ithaca mudslinging begin!

"It is believed that Sharpe will be the first Springfield College undergraduate student-athlete ever to be interviewed LIVE on national television."

Springfield's not really a research University, is it? Nice touch on the capitalization of LIVE for emphasis, too!

"and will be interviewed by Dave Revson, who can often be seen on ESPN's Sportscenter."

So Chris Sharpe will pretty much have a feature story on Sportscenter.

"Sharpe ran for 280 yards and scored an incredible seven touchdowns (one shy of the NCAA Division III record) in a huge 55-38 victory at St. John Fisher last Saturday (Oct. 21)."

If I were a Sports Information director, I wouldn't editorialize on my own website about stats that speak for themselves. And is it really that incredible that the very talented runner of a QB on a team that runs the triple option scored four touchdowns from >20 yds. on a defense that not only was missing starters but is also a notriously unprepared team for things like this?

"The Springfield College Pride (7-0) will next play at Ithaca College (6-1) on Saturday afternoon, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. in yet another crucial Empire 8 Conference contest."

"Yet another"? Who is the SID over there, Mary Higgins Clark? Either he's suggesting that a) this is only the latest in string of crucial Empire 8 contests or b) every Empire 8 contest is crucial. I'm more inclined to agree with (b), because it's only the second of two recent important E8 contests for SC, and yes, every conference game matters, but I doubt he'll be using the phrase "yet another" for the Hartwick preview next week.

And if you've been talking about a particular football team for an entire article, for that team's website, it's kind of stupid to refer to them again as the "Springfield College Pride". A little formal, Mary.

I hope Chris Sharpe runs into Joe Theismann over at ESPN, so he can tell him what it's like to play on grass against a good defense in the cold rain. Hopefully Sharpe won't end up being famous for the same thing Joe is.

And if he runs into Karl Ravech or any other of the scores of IC alums over there he'd better take a good look.... it'll be the last time for a long time he sees a Bomber that isn't jumping on him before he even remembers what play he called....

Wow, that was pretty critical!!  Good Pub for D3 nonetheless on ESPNEWS

Cant help but think your attack on the sc article is a lowly attempt to try to bring down chris sharpe and the pride?  Is it that big of a deal to you that the word LIVE is capitalized? If i remember correctly, when espn news airs something they show the word in the top right corner capitalized LIVE.  In any event, the argument about a wet rainy game, with grass is a little bit silly don't you think? Don't you think that SC would be practicing on a grass field in preparation? Doesn't Ithaca have to to play on that same wet field?? Is that the same REAL defense that gave up thirty five points to SJF? ? I understand if you're nervous about the game but isn't it a little juvenile to take it out on some college student who is probably writing that blurb about sharpe?  Either way its great for D3 that he will be on ESPN and I just hope for your sake that he doesnt throw up 5 or 6 TD's again.  Speaking of real defenses, doesn't AU have the 16th ranked defense in the country? How many yards and TD's did Sharpe have against them?

Oh snap!  Hey Pride!

"i can't wait to line up on saterday and see if your boys are as tough as you guys build them up to be."

realistic

well - they're 7-0, it's about time they started coming out of the woodwork.... I'd say we have a 50-50 shot at a player before gametime.

chris7sarge

I'm an AU fan.  Is there any possible scenario that they could get in by winning 2 of there last three against Hobart, Fisher, and Ithaca.  That is a very real possibility.  I know that comparing scores is somewhat futile in comparing the strengths of teams.  However, AU has come the closest to beating Springfield and from my understanding of the game very well may have if not for 2 or 3 big plays from the QB (3rd and 25 and picking up 24 on a run, 50 something yd td on the next play).  Is the only way to avoid missing the playoffs again to complete the trifecta?  Could they still win the E8?

fisheralum91

sarge- no.
to do so would be virtually impossible.
e8 no.
playoffs-maybe ecac

sorry but true
