Boys, pitch me some selling points/slogans for your respective schools... Gro's looking for both serious and 'rediculas' responses. What made you go to your school?

One of college football's most storied rivalries waits to be played out this weekend in Philadelphia. Navy takes on Army with the Commander in Chief trophy on the line.

For all deployed Sailors and Marines, and as an active duty Naval officer, I have only one thing to say:

GO NAVY - BEAT ARMY!!!!!!

Best of all - my former Commanding Officer invited Mrs. Lyco and me to be his guests on the 45 with club box seating!

All the best

Sorry Lyco, grampaGro is a big time Army FB supporter (and veteran). Gro will have to side with the black knights on this one, and hope they put a dent the size of a donkey's foot on that goat's head.

I might know another reason for all the love to Fisher.... having a professional football team on your campus during their training camp really DOES help.

And what is going on with the "upload folder"... we need to have that baby fixed.

Don't take this the wrong way but your CB's cant look too good!

Alfred is well known for its faculty:student ratio. You know your professors and, like it or not, your professors get to know you! The small classes allow for a more individualized approach. Nestled away mid the Empire State hills, neath the watchcare of sentinel pines....AU gives a cozy friendly small town atmosphere where you get acquainted with the hometown newspaper editor, the mailman, the pharmacist. The campus is beautiful with a mix of nicely restored old buildings and well-equipped new buildings.

As for the football program, the coaching staff is down-to-earth, affable, approachable and likeable. The facilities are adequate (can't wait 'til they get the newer style turf). Located in a small town with a student body that spends weekends on campus, the student body supports the Saxon football team. AU provides plenty of student activities with many clubs, concerts, coffeehouses, films, etc. If AU doesn't have it, you will be encouraged to start it.

While AU is not a jock school (no P.E. major), it offers arguably the world's finest ceramic engineering program and, thanks to recent major gifts, is expanding its top-notch art and performing arts programs.

If you happen to play trombone, we'd especially like you to pay Alfred a visit. AUPepBand is graduating a four-year starter and is looking to fill those shoes next year.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

I know that IC was recruiting James Reile but not as heavily as Fisher did, And it was the Coaches and the Facility not the Bills.

Talked to a Section IV football recruit today.... sounds like he is Fisher bound. He mentioned that the Fisher coaches were extremely kind, went out of their way to talk to him time and again, the facilities are great, etc....

When asked about Ithaca he mentioned that they showed interest, but seemed to have the attitude that they didn't really care if he went there or not.

I have heard a number of others mention this sort of behavior in person, and on the board (including Robinson's Dad i believe). Does Ithaca roll out the red carpet for anyone, or do they have more of a take us or leave us approach?

I'd be curious to hear any former players opinions on this, along with Mr. N if he's still lurking around.. Granted you shouldn't talk players up too much, and guarantee things that won't come true. That being said, these kids, and the dads of the kids, love hearing how wanted they are. Toss on a professional weight room and facilities and recruiting in upstate could be a problem.

Tecmo,
This family had awesome visits in both places....both coaching staffs were unbelievably helpful....Vosburgh, Faggianno and Schiachetti in particular were and I am sure still are very in tune with all of the players interested in SJF...and yes, my son laughed after he saw what the locker rooms looked like...."sick" I think was the word...Rochester as a city follows SJF for football and basketball big time....It's the heart of Section V ....

IC was equally as awesome, players, coaches, campus and won out for several reasons in this Dad's eyes.....

#1. Academics....nobody preps a Physical Therapy student for the upper echelon better than IC.....nobody.

#2. Coach Welch.....without blowing smoke.....he was a straight shooter about the program...and my son's chances of playing...no promises...just an opportunity...

#3. The students and Athletes he met on his visits....SJF was close...but IC was it...

#4. Tradition.....I knew of IC's football program....he understood the history & really liked the tradition of competing for a National Championship...every year...

Coach Welch has started each season with the objectives and "family" discussion....the family part is easy to understand if you are or have played at IC.....

The objective is simple, "...every year....to win a national Championship....!"

If you aren't already jazzed about next year in the E8....you've got no pulse....preperations started a week ago....

              Yeah.....TASTE IT!

Reno,
Bulletin board "fodder" already?? Just kidding, the guys had their moments....and some of the most difficult were in Schenectady...Marotti and Angiletta are the real deal....

Next season, barring the rash of season ending injuries, on again, off again make shift line ups due to dings, and a stud or two up from JV and freshmen.......it all plays out a little different....

Who knows ...maybe we meet again..this time on the Hill?

Just sorting it all out.....and "reloading"......

Is Espo gone? Will the OL be hit hard?

tecmobowler

Espo gone. Scalice gone.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

The younger Dubbz isn't going to be a kicker?

He could be considering he punts 90 yards and kicks 70 with ease.

But with Espo leaving I told him we need a monster to go across the middle and snagg the ball outta the air with no fear.  he was all about it.  now, we just need welchy to convince him IC will fit him and we may have somthing.  He is looking at schools up buffalo way, Fisher, and, gulp, dare i say it,  Cortland.  I told him we would disown him if he went there.

I found  "Yeah.....TASTE IT!"  to be absolutely hysterical.  Mr. N whippin out Taste it. ahahaha.

As for draws to IC the women are not bad to look at.  I think I was told 17 times on my trips and orientation that it was ranked 3rd in playboy.  When i got there i found this was not false!   :o .  Also when the program you look into is one of the top in the country it helps.  And the college is so cozy and quaint it draws you in.  Soon the "Dubbz Football Facility" will be built and the football players will have yet another reason to love IC.
