Someone mentioned OOC oponents for SC was Montclair Husson and Brockport...You also forgot Union. If Union wins the LL that would be big for SC when the committee looks at it.........or am i complete jackass? Is it that SC wins the next two they get AQ?

Sorry about that -- and I forgot Brockport for SJF, too. Keep forgetting the E8 has 7 members in football...

When we're discussing the schedule strength, we're focusing right now only on the tiebreaker (QoW Index) in a three-way tie.  Yes, it is true that the Committee is not bound by its own index and can look at Union (essentially an in-region "ranked" opponent in that case since it would be a Pool A placement prior to the debate).

Am I the only Bomber fan that wishes we were playing Becker, Husson, Suny-Welcome to D-III, or anyone else but Cortland in Week 11?

Will be great to see the old crew, but man, what a tough way to end the year.

Well, look at Union/RPI last year.  Way too much on the line for one game -- and two extremely good teams.  I'll admit, I was the most nervous about announcing that game since I was first on the air 12 years ago.  The atmosphere was electric, and the stakes were unreal.

The difference being RPI/Union was a conference game.

The key seems to get a decent independent team on the schedule (Mount Ida?).  Their record is inflated since the play even worse indy teams..
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

That's how RPI almost won the tiebreaker last year (Becker/Endicott).

Yeah picking up a  NEFC team like Coast Guard could be huge.

The opposite of this is having a team like Buff State, who is getting slaughtered in the NJAC.  They'd probably be undefeated in the NEFC.

I'm curious to see if Coast Guard's team begins to slip after a few years in the NEFC, though.  It can't be as easy to recruit for such a conference, I'd guess?

So if Fisher would need 2 of the 4 scenarios...

1) Rochester wins at least one more game,

Will be tough.  Home against RPI, on the road at Hobart.  Probably needs to happen this week.

(2) King's wins both remaining games,

Little chance.  They'll probably beat FDU, but will be double digit underdogs against Wilkes.

(3) Mt. Ida wins both remaining games

Perhaps.  They're probably a six point underdog vs. WPI.  Should beat Marytime.

(4) Montclair loses at least one game.

at Willy P and West Conn.  Who knows.  Montclair has been a hard team to predict in the past.  Bit of a question mark what team shows up.

Technically, if Mt. Ida wins one more game and one of the other three things happen, SJF wins.  So, if you feel Maritime is an easy win, then it's a little easier for them to hold on.

I think Rochester can beat Hobart, although it'll be a lot tougher at Hobart. Hobart is a little overrated I believe.

Hobart may be a little overrated, but Rochester is very overrated. It still boggles my mind that the Fisher game might actually HELP SJF's QOW....

fisheralum91

in the grandest of schemes-
if it plays out the way i think it will.
SC and Fisher win out and IC loses to Cortland,
Does the E8 still place 3 in the tourney?

gobombers

Fisheralum91, I would say that is a possibility, though it would be depending upon what other teams have 2 losses.  If IC beats Alfred by a wide margin, Cortland beats Rowan by a decent amount, and IC loses to Cortland in a close one, the committee could see that IC is better than Rowan, as well as better than Hobart AND Union, due to wins against similar competition (say beating Alfred by more than Hobart, and beating Springfield, who Union lost to).

Any way you cut it, you have to hope that Hobart beats Union, and Cortland beats Rowan, by as wide as possible margins.  These outcomes really help the 1 loss scenario, but also to a lesser extent help the 2 loss scenarios as well.

So in summary, the only way the E8 places a 2 loss team in the tourney is if there are no more in region 1 loss teams.  Wins by Union and Rowan make that much more difficult.

I'm nervous.... Kind of wish it was just Cortland vs. Ithaca instead of Cortaca.

fisheralum91

Not that you should look past AU- but Cortaca becomes must win!

Ouch!

Not that the Fisher AU game isnt- but that one should (with propper rest and planning) be a Fisher win--AU guys i said should---we all know what happened last year--

Tight race to the finish---the way it should be!

You and I rarely diverge on this board Tecmo but I am going to disagree with you here.  I wouldn't trade a rivalry game like that for anything.  Winning the Jug is as important to me as a Bomber fan as winning the NC.  I suppose that is an attitude I learned around the Florida-Florida State rivalry.  They play at the end of the year and, because late losses kill you, one team always ends up in the Outback or Citrus Bowl.  (Although FSU may have to beat Florida to get into the Citrus this year).  I wouldn't want to back into the playoffs by beating Becker, or Husson, or any other cupcake.

Jose - how was the Worlds Largest Cocktail Party?

Man, talk about great rivalries.  What an incredible time.  I reccommend it for all if you have never been.  It is a rivalry but, there is no animosity (maybe that is because UGA hasn't won in like, I don't know, 20 years).  An incredible drunken affair.

P.S. Tags, +k for questioning Fisher's coaches, something I have been saying much of the year.  There was another Fisher poster that took such a bold and honest move and I remember him saying he got shouted down via private message.

Unlikely.  There are a couple two-loss teams that would probably come ahead of Ithaca.  This is a case where a midwest two-loss team (say in Ohio or in the "South") could be shipped up to complete the regional bracket.

fisheralum91

Frank- what was the issue with the Fisher coaching?

FA91-

JoseQ is the man to answer your question, but from what I've heard Vosburgh is legendarily bad at preparing for certain teams. See the Springfield game. Also, mis-management of Robinson has been hinted at on this board by a few SJF posters.

Speaking of Fisher:

An article about Gene Lang!

Sports idol, and why: James Braddock (legendary boxer) because he was an underdog who made it to the top.

Do you really think Gene Lang had heard of James Braddock before "Cinderella Man" came out?

In other words, be too good to be playing at Fisher.

In 10 years I'll: Either be in my 14th year of college or be living on a farm with a wife and at least five kids.

He also mentions he'd like to have dinner with David Hasselhoff.

You know Sarge, you're right. I DO hope the players read this sight!

And I've never been more proud of AU in my life.
