Well, he's obviously no Nick Gatto, I'm just having a little fun. So hopefully when the Rowan posters read this, they won't castrate me for FORGETTING ABOUT PLAYING FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME THEY'RE JUST KIDS AAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH by the way we only bring this up when we lose.

fisheralum91

Still- he is getting pub--which is more than most can say.....

maxpower

True, although I know I'd be embarrassed to be in the same paper as Scott Pitoniak and Bob Matthews.

Frank- what was the issue with the Fisher coaching?

The other Fisher guys know the answer to this in greater detail but from my observation I think he has 3 main shortcomings:

1.  His teams are woefully underprepared.  I don't know if he is bad at preparation, lazy when it comes to preparation, or one of those coaches that believes in the Bobby Knight mantra of "we don't adjust, you adjust to us."  Either way, Fisher never seems ready for obvious tendencies of opponents.

2. He is bad at utilizing his talent.  I suppose this is due in part to his strength in bringing in a lot of talent.  Nevertheless, there is no reason Mark Robinson is not getting 30+ carries a game, especially with Fehrenbach gone.  I know Reile was decent after Robinson got hurt last fall but heck with that.  A player of Robinson's caliber should always get the rock.  Also, how does Suchnya start the year at QB?  It's not like he set the world on fire last fall.  Clearly, Kramer is much better.  Vosburgh had to have seen that in practice.  He is lucky they didn't lose a freak game under Suchnya.

3. His teams have come out flat at bad times.  I know it is cliche to pin this on the coach but, there is no reason for Fisher to have stumbled when they have stumbled the last few years.  They would have won the E8 outright two years ago, and would have made the playoffs last fall without devastating late season stumbles.

Nick Gatto's Answers to the Same Questions slated to run in the next edition of the Alfred Sun (I got an advance copy from Matt Drudge):

Sports idol, and why: Shoeless Joe Jackson.  I mean, dude couldn't reed or right and he is still famus.

Favorite TV show: Reeding Ranebow.

On my iPod now: The Ooga Booga chant.  No wait, that isn't on my iPod, it is still ringing in my ears because I heard it so often in the 4th quarter at Butterfield last fall.

People would be surprised to learn: I know how to play the kazoo.

Biggest pet peeve: Spelling bees.

Greatest sports moments: Carrying Brenton Brady's dirty laundry for three seasons.

Worst sports moment: There is one infamous Saterday that comes to mind.

Celebrity dream date:  (Seriously, I cannot top Lang's Oprah response so I will just skip this one).

In my next life I’ll:  Still be trying to get through the third grade.

In 10 years I’ll:  Be running for Vice President when my campaign trips up on the word Potato(e)

Am I the only Bomber fan that wishes we were playing Becker, Husson, Suny-Welcome to D-III, or anyone else but Cortland in Week 11?

Will be great to see the old crew, but man, what a tough way to end the year.

Yeah Tecmo......

Cortaca is HUGE......and the crowd gets the  players buzzed beyond anything most teams see in ther careers in d3.....I think the Stagg Bowl has peaked in the 6-7K range....

And the Cortland Venue has been a plus as an away game....

I suppose this is a compliment.  You have been well behaved this year c-state but, after we teach Mr. Gatto and company which letter comes after k and before m, we are moving on to you and your boys.

I gotta say one thing (surprised, I know).  SJF has come from "bottom-fisher" in the Upstate New York region to strong competitor over the last five years.  They've compiled a schedule in that time that I really was impressed by year after year.  They've grown from that schedule, no doubt.  I don't care what team you are -- if you can come from the ashes and into the national spotlight with that sort of schedule in this sort of competition, then you can't have a bad coach at the helm.  I think their success points to a very good leader at the helm -- and obviously good players.  However, how many times in sports do we see a collection of good players go by the wayside because of poor leadership and cohesiveness?  I think statements criticizing the SJF coaching are somewhat short-sighted.

I can chime in....Robinson is a team player....this guy has destroyed most teams he's played.....and he must average 15-18 touches a game.....forgive me for being too lazy to look it up.....

I know that you want to pull a player of his caliber with the game in hand...so the second half time on the sidelines makes sense....BUT......
