Sometimes it just has to be put bluntly. They just didn't get it done yesterday, and there's no sugarcoating it. I'm not going to go on blaming certain players, because it wasn't just one player's fault. Alfred showed up, we didn't.

However, I believe that we could have beaten Alfred 7 or 8 out of 10 times....it wasn't our day.
I've said all along that national polls mean nothing. The game is played on the field, not in cyberspace. Alfred, as the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle once said, is probably the most underrated team Upstate; and, given the NCAA snub, AU may be the Rodney Dangerfield of D3Football. But those who follow the Saxons know this team is something special.   Hold on....did I just quote the D&C? What was I thinkin'?

gee,
i wonder if the Fisher offense was out of whack because of the AU defense!  just a thought!

Considering what SJF has done through out the course of the season I seriously doubt it was anything that AU did considering that AU did lose 3 straight to SJF before this weekends game.

SJF shot them selves in the foot all day, it wasn't anything that AU did it was what SJF's O didnt do!

originalupstate,
nothing that Alfred did?  what they did was win the game!

AU offense worked the clock to perfection. AU defense rose to all but one challenge, which, I believe, if I remember correctly, was aided by a dubious interference call....perhaps on a 3rd-and-long, but I may be wrong. AU was in control as Fisher fans sat silent in disbelief.

AUPepband hit the nail on the head.  i was there and his description of the game is on the money!

I sat in disbelief because Fisher couldn't tackle #20.....

You're living in the past. All three losses to SJF were close games. AU has a rich football tradition. I have decades of glory years I could talk about. But fact is, AU took care of business. All your chatter about where Fisher would be seeded in NCAA for the past two weeks was to your detriment. Your first playoff game was yesterday. And AU won.

IC tackled #20 every time. That's our freshman sparkplug, Julio Fuentes, a 5-2 145 pistol. Don't give him any running room, he'll do the Mexican Hat Dance!

How did me having Fisher seeded in predictions have any outcome on the field this past weekend?

If im not mistaken your sitting at home as well....so whats your point?

AUPepBand

My point is that you were looking ahead when the REAL playoff game was Saturday, Nov. 12 versus an underrated Alfred team. And I see my karma dropping....Fisher fans not happy. Oh well.

Yeah and once again how did it have any bearing on what happened saturday?

AU's Offense won the game, not the Defense.  AU kept the ball in their hands while SJF's offense shot themselves in the foot all day long.

K guys, how about this.  Fisher had a bad day, Au had a great strategy and a great day.  Both of you will have another game and from my experience last year, that is what you should look forward to.  Now, with the playoffs starting I will not only be rooting for IC but For SJF to win their ecac game and for Au to win there and if by chance Utica gets one, Ill root for them too.

AUPepBand

Now if the Bombers had only pulled through in the Cortaca, perhaps AU would have joined them in the party. Let's hope the Bombers get it done at Frank Bailey. Good luck, SJF in the ECACs....will be interesting to see how they match 'em up. Anyone know when they will announce ECAC pairings?
