Anyone have insider updates on how recruiting is going @ IC or any other E8 schools?  I know that a lot of schools have the Feb. 1st deadline.

Go Bombers.

I'm concerned that my school's football/basketball BMOC may be Fisher-bound.

Wasn't that the word earlier in the year too?

How'd the meeting go?

well they went.  Lets just say Reebok was more interested.

Sorry to hear that Dubbz.  I thought you were going to be meeting with them.  Are there any other exciting offers to speak of?

Are you sure it's a transfer from Alfred University? Alfred State also has football and routinely has football players sign with D-IAA teams. In fact, they had a running back a few years ago who transferred to Louisville with some success.

I'm waiting for Alfred State to make the jump to D3 from NJCAA. SUNY Morrisville (my alma mater) is reportedly making the jump either this or next year.

well, yesterday went to tecmos game to watch the BMOC show that he does deserve teh title.  What makes me angry is schools from over 400 miles away make the trip and take the time to send letters to the kid yet IC, which is 6.9 miles away from his high school, has yet to say 3 words to him.  Good gravy, with Juvon and this BMOC the Bombers would look stellar in 2008.  Does anyone else have this agrivation with their schools or is it just the Bomber Faithful?

I know there were two guys that signed w/ Rhode Island and U of Arkansas that came from A-State last season....

That kid that transferred to Louisville ended up signing w/ the Jags....

"A prophet is without honor in his own country." Seems as though coaches often overlook local talent. Believe me, I know. Guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Dubby hits the frustrations on the head.  We have kids in this county that other schools are travelling hundreds of miles to come watch.  Not all of them would come to Ithaca, but our point guard and quarterback (who could be coverted to a killer wideout), hasn't gotten the time of day from them.  A lot of these kids grew up watching Bombers games, going to camps at the college etc... I just don't get it.

Some of this may sound like sour grapes from a local, but I come from a big Class A school, and have seen the Fairport's and Webster's many times through the years.  If you take a team to both a football and basketball state championship, you're not a slouch.

The only rationale I can come up with is if the college doesn't put a lot of time into kids that may not have the financial backing to support four years at Ithaca. This may explain why many of the kids come in from Jersey and Long Island.  Certainly though, the HEOP program could be an opportunity for some of these kids.

I'm going to kick myself if our BMOC goes to Fisher.... absolutely kick myself.

This reminds me of the revelation this fall that Robinson wasn't recruited by us at all.  Didn't his father tell us on here that they went on their own to visit IC and still couldn't get in to see the coaches?

I think the problem, in the end, is the recruiting resources for D-III.  I know, from talking to some coaches, that they have to be careful who they recruit because a lot of kids are getting turned away from IC.  And, the ones that are getting in aren't getting the kind of aid that the State Schools are offering.  I don't know anything about Fisher's admission requirements or their financial aid packages.

Also, I think sometimes a lot of talent gets overlooked because there just isnt the staff to maintain a database of players.  Think about it, how many full-time football assistants does IC have?  They all have some other role (ie Angelicho-Baseball, Raymond-Strength Coach, etc.)  So the recruiting falls by the wayside a little.

Tecmo, you should email Coach Welch and Coach Mullins. I bet they look into your guy.  It seems likely that they have never even heard of him.

Jose- On our visit to IC, I felt that we were not needed (yoou know the feeling??)- like the reputation of IC around the country would bring in enough talent-I was surprised that SEC. 5 POY and 1st team all-state didn't get some interest-good communications school too !!!

I would be my life savings of $69.17 that the two of them have heard of tecmos man.  Its the Jordan of Central NY.  I think IC's database of athletes is pretty good.  I would assume, ;), that any person who sends a video or letter saying 'hey I want to play here' goes in the database.  I would also assume that the links to every webpage for local newspapers in a 100 mile radius is in their Favorites links.  Just simple agravations of taking the time to click print on the mass recruit letter, stuffing it into the envelope, licking stamp, and putting on secretaries desk to mail takes about a minute and 9 seconds.  How, can you not do this.  shoot, most athletes these days give their emails.  one mass email to every athlete takes, well lets see, find file, click, attach, click, send, click, spell check, click click click, ok 17 seconds.

sorry for the rant fella's this one really erks tecmo and me.

this would be the time where i would like to see a ghost writer for coach welch appear.

ER, I can't say that I know the feeling.  IC recruited me all the way from Tampa, Florida (for hoop, not football).  But we clearly missed out on a dynamite player in your son.  Maybe we alumni should stop complaining and fund a recruiting coordinator.

Jose- sorry, what I meant was like being in a crowd of people and nobody caring you are there, the coaches were nice enough, but just not interested
