Hey where did Bombers798891 go???  He was like the poster of the year until IC got bounced by Curry.

um- as far as commish goes- we need some new representation---IC first then AU- anybody else from the E8 want to take a crack at it?
dewcrew?
fa91?
booby?
dare i say---yanks 99?

I'd take a shot at it. I'm fair, reliable, balanced... I think I'd make a very respectable commish.

You really want to start this discussion again?

I vote for FA91

Well, the SAME thing was said by a number of people about Pierre Garcon for the past few years and Indy went and got him and he is actually contributing this year.

Let's just note how impressive it is when NFL scouts come to see a D3 QB... and then speak positively about him.   It's just good for D3 football.....

Surely you know the difference between making the NFL at WR or RB, and making it at QB. Apples and oranges, I'm afraid.

HHawks, I have no doubt that you've watched him for the past few years and think he's the real deal. Unfortunately, that myopic opinion and .75 cents will get you a bag of chips. I think you're overestimating Boltus's arm. I think it's an average to above-average D1 arm from the couple of times I've seen him play. I also think he makes poor decisions when he's under pressure, a big red flag to any NFL organization. Time will tell when he has the opportunity to compete against other QB's from higher levels. I just don't see him being NFL-ready nine months from now. He is relatively raw and will need A LOT of time to develop.

I believe it will be a long shot he gets drafted. It is probably to his benefit if he doesn't. He can then weigh any options he may have to sign as a free agent.

On the arm strength, one of the Hartwick coaches said the SD Charger scout says he has a better arm then Rivers does.
On top of that, I was standing right next to all the NY Giants QBs this summer at Albany. Boltus throws the ball as well as anyone there.
Arm strength will not be the issue. Decision making will be the deciding factor due to the level he played at. But, like the Colts scout said, he wasn't throwing against D1 DBs but he wasn't throwing to D1 WRs either.

Oh, he has a stronger arm than Philip Rivers? In that case, draft him 4th overall! What is that supposed to mean? I think every poster on this board has a stronger arm than Chad Pennington. Are we playing QB in the NFL?! Again, that means nothing. I wasn't that blown away with Boltus's arm. I certainly don't think it was any better than most of the Conference USA QB's that I watched through the years. Most of whom are not in the NFL.

The difference between Boltus and Rivers/Eli Manning is that Boltus didn't spend his college years torching the SEC and ACC. I hope he gets a shot in the Arena League.

Easy GB15...let people have their hopes and fun with this, even if for a moment.  Is it a long shot that Boltus gets drafted...yes.  We all know the odds of a D3 QB getting taken with a draft pick.  Is it possible he will be wearing an NFL uniform in some capacity next season...even for a moment...yes, very possible and is more like probable.  Will he be a big star...who knows...stranger things have happened.

This is great for the E8.  Everyone has heard something different from what they consider reliable sources.  Who knows if things will pan out.  In the meantime, even if for one second, can't we just appreciate what this kid has done?  He is more then just from a "gimmick" offense (not my words, I believe they were yours).  Sure, those stats helped him get noticed, but it is his size/athleticism that give him a shot at the next level.  Nothing more.  If stats were the only thing they looked at, then the kid from Guiliford would be getting more of a look.  For one second, can't you pull your head out of your "IC is the greatest school on earth" ass and simply root for a kid from the E8 to make it big?

Hmm, this statement might be accurate if:

1) I hadn't said on several occasions over the course of this conversation that I wish the best for Boltus and hope he does make it. Look it up, ace.

2) I wasn't the most vehement critic of Mike Welch on these boards (see my posts about IC's play-calling after the Fisher game, and his lack of testicular fortitude in the Curry game). I love my alma mater but it cannot be disputed that I take the team to task when I see something I don't like.

You 'Wick fans need to stop taking it as a personal affront whenever someone says something not 100% pro-Boltus. The guy does have some flaws, you know. That you don't like to hear about them is not my problem.

uh uh ... he's perfect in every way... i swear.  Didnt you know he wrestled a bear, Out ran a horse, lifted a building right over his head annnnnnd he can throw a football right over those mountains over there...

and dont you dare say different

Interesting...it was my thought even before I read this post, that it was actually the IC posters mostly who took an affront to all the Boltus/NFL talk.  Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion and posting on these boards is what it is all about (except when Pat comes on and says we cant talk about him anymore and throws down the "bottom-line" talk  ;D ) but it seems to me that having an opinion is one thing and having an opinion laced and slanted with negativity towards even the prospect of one of our E8 breathren making it to the NFL is an unnecessary other thing.

You either think he is going to make or not.   Fine, but some are a bit presumptuous in analyzing why their opinion is correct.  I mean come on....how lame is it to think you can predict whether a college QB is going to make it in the NFL?  LEAF/MANNING!!!!!   Need I say more?    And THOSE WERE THE EXPERTS talking!!!

Good luck to Boltus.....if he is good enough and works hard enough he will make it as far as he needs to!

Good luck on finals!

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Un-BULL-ievable!  Congrads to the UB Bulls.  What a turn-around. Turner Gill should be nominated for coach of the year.  They were good last year but this is even beyond expectations.

Ahhhhh makes complete sense now Pep!! haha I thought it was just one of those things anyone had access to... But either way, Fish and Dil, thanks for the good luck wishes... The thought on my behalf was somewhat there haha

Pep must confess that UB had been a laughingstock. As a former Alfred rival, UB's previous attempts at the "big-time" were scorned by Alfred fans, as they went from small college football to DI (at old Rotary Field), then dropped the program altogether, only to start it up again at D3 and then, once again, to DI, never really getting the support necessary to warrant a DI program. Pep hopes that the greater Buffalo area will make the Bulls their team. While the Bills are overdue, they should take the Bulls by the horn and go for a wild ride!

When UB hired Turner Gill to lead the program, that university indicated it is serious about building a football program there. While Pep doesn't know him personally, all indications are that Turner Gill is a highly respected, classy, humble individual who has turned the program around. Pep hopes that, while Gill will be flooded with offers at bigger programs, Pep is hoping he will continue what he has begun at UB.

Congratulations to the University of Buffalo, Turner Gill and all the Bulls. As Saxon8 said, "UnBULLievable!"

I dont think its lame to predict whether a college QB is going to make it or not.  Leaf was a 1st round draft pick at a d1 school.  Boltus probably has the same chance that Chris Crane does, or any other d1 starting quarterback.  200-1 odds that he will make it.

I hope Gill goes to Syracuse!  I wish they were good again....

Also I had a dream last night in which I accidentally suffocated a slightly insane hobo that randomly showed up in my house.  The man wouldnt leave my house and was making subtle threats to my family, so it all happened in a moment of fear and rage.  I spent the rest of the dream trying to cover it up and avoid the jail time (I think I was watching too much OJ Simpson coverage before bed).....This is clearly good news for Cortland fans as this is undoubtedly a prophetic dream saying they will defeat Mount Union.
