I do think it is funny though that he is considered the "best" QB in the country, and yet he is pretty much the only QB  (among the top 5 considered) that Pat has seen live...numerous times...which according to him doesn't really help him select who is an AA.  Interesting don't you think?  The #1 guy is the one he has seen play the most...but he says that shouldn't be the basis of selection.  I will be anxiously awaiting all of Micheli's wonderful stats as the reason Pat actually chose him.

Here's a shock, then, Yanks.  The first time Pat saw Mount Union live this season was -- at the Stagg Bowl.  Perhaps he got to see some of the Semifinals from archived video, but you're acting like Pat did all 15 of Mount Union's games this season.  That's incorrect -- he did ONE.

Stop the witch hunt, and agree to disagree.  You made some valid points early, but this is treading on ridiculous at this point.  If you want to see one man's opinion about Micheli, go to my last blog entry at http://www.d3football.com/dailydose/2008/12/21/sideline-guy-time-to-say-goodbye/ -- While you'll blame my exposure to Micheli as an excuse for my positive remarks, my point is that I shared your incorrect view about Micheli's luck of having Kmic and the O-Line he has in front of him.  He finished with a 209 efficiency rating and without receivers like Phelan to throw to (Cecil Shorts is good, but he's not Pierre Garcon).

Honestly, stop denegrating Micheli to make your point because that, too, is a non-starter for anyone that has taken the time to step back and look at these questions (and I am far from a Mount Union fan in the normal course, as you should know).

Hey FA91 Just so you know (because I know your interested) that Hartwick College (assuming Florida wins) should be the rightful National Champions as they are in fact better than Florida. My Reasoning is below.

Hartwick beat Mt Ida 58 - 27.
Mt Ida beat Plymouth St 24 - 7.
Plymouth St beat St Anselm 36 - 28.
St Anselm beat Merrimack 48 - 42.
Merrimack beat Stonehill 21 - 16.
Stonehill beat Wagner 14 - 13.
Wagner beat Marist 21 - 14.
Marist beat Davidson 24 - 19.
Davidson beat Jacksonville 38 - 35.
Jacksonville beat San Diego 30 - 29.
San Diego beat UC Davis 28 - 20.
UC Davis beat Portland St 38 - 24.
Portland St beat E Washington 47 - 36.
E Washington beat Weber St 33 - 26.
Weber St beat Cal Poly SLO 49 - 35.
Cal Poly SLO beat San Diego St 29 - 27.
San Diego St beat UNLV 42 - 21.
UNLV beat Wyoming 22 - 14.
Wyoming beat Tennessee 13 - 7.
Tennessee beat Vanderbilt 20 - 10.
Vanderbilt beat Mississippi 23 - 17.
Mississippi beat Florida 31 - 30.

Therefore Using the transitive property of College Football, Hartwick is better than Florida and should be the one's playing for the National Championship.

Someone does that every year, but I always find it interesting. Did you figure all that out yourself Hawks?

Yes Sir Frank...easy buddy...it is over.  I will do my best to never challenge the establishment again.  All I said was Pat has seen his #1 QB play more then anyone else...and the only one of the top 5 live...which is totally true.  Pat saw him play last year as well...so once you get above one, numerous becomes subjective.  If you are complaining that the word "numerous" was too strong...I concede the point.  You win...how about several then, compared to zero?

I have never degregated Micheli.  Not once.  Just said he did "more with more".  I actually said Micheli was "great" on more then several occassions.  And I stand by that...he is a great D3 QB...but he does have an awful lot of weapons.  Also...I think Phelan is a fantastic player, one of the best WR'S in the country, and deserves every ounce of recognition that he gets.  But I can tell you this, Cecil Shorts is as good a receiver as there is in Division III football...period...one of the absolute best.  Neither Phelan or Shorts are Garcon as you pointed out, but Shorts is one of the best there is.  Lets not act like Micheli is slumming with sub-par WR's...that simply isn't true.

In any case its all good.  And its over.  Oh well...life moves on.  I am glad there is a bit more transparency on the whole selection process...and I definately thank Keith for that.

Merry Christmas to everyone...about 8 more months to double session...
