Good article on Jason Boltus from the Sportingnews.  Some scouts see him as a starter in NFL in a few years other say he wont get drafted.  Looks like there are a handful of teams who have him high on their lists so most likely he will be selected.

The QB class this year is pathetic so he has a chance to be a late round pick.  I do think he'll be on a roster for camp somewhere in the NFL though when it's all said and done...

Former Springfield football player Nick Burdett was shot and killed by an off duty sheriff in Miami the other night in an alleged robbery attempt.  I knew the kid too.  Sad all around.  I also have a feeling that there is going to be more to this story......

This is tragic. What's more, it appears to be fishy. There must be a "rest of the story" that may never be learned. RIP Paul Harvey.

Time to toot my own kazoo:

*Current Top 25 Men's leaders*
1 - WUGreenEnvy - 129
2 - AUKaz00 - 120
2 - bigdog - 120
2 - hojo - 120
2 - WalzyAmhSalem4Peat - 120

If I had only gone with my brother's alma mater, F&M, to advance to the Final Four instead of Mass-Dartmouth, I might have taken the crown.  C'est la vie.

That's worth more than a +K but, like the daily vitamin, it's "One-a-Day"! Great job, Kaz00!

Good job Kaz00.

Any news coming out of Alfred about the upcoming season?  Any great recruits coming down the pipeline?  Or any other E8 school for that matter?  I am getting desperate for the new season to begin....Last season went by way too fast, and it was a frustrating season as well.

Ready for the fall and Mount Union to arrive.

Thanks, booby.  No big news coming out of Mayberry, unlike last February when I received an emphatic text from Pep that Secky had committed.  Rumor of a partnership with a local strength and agility trainer has been the extent of AU football talk this winter.  I too am looking forward to the start of the 2009 season.  Is it August yet?

I'm not sure when the Alfred schedule was posted, but the gauntlet has been eliminated.  Currently, AU will play @ Fisher after a bye in week in week 8.  Though the Saxons only have 9 games on their schedule so they're probably looking to add a game another away game in week 5.  That probably gives Alfred a better chance against either Fisher or Ithaca, but definitely makes the season less sensational when it doesn't all come down to the final game as it has the past few years.

My Spidey-sense must have been going off!  I wonder, in the current economy, if more teams will be going with 9 game schedules this year.  Could be an interesting development to follow.

Good point and I will keep an eye on it. So far I haven't seen it as a trend yet -- primarily the schools with nine either usually have nine (Chapman, Chicago), are new programs (Anna Maria) or were left in the lurch by Colorado College. But we have a lot of schedules to go.

The 10th game will pay for itself after the network deals and bowl game payouts.

I hear Hartwick will stay at 9 games due to the economy.
