scoreboard update:

MUC 7
SJF 0

In his first appearance as QB, Cecil Shorts, under pressure, (of Micheli's legacy that is...) on a designed keeper, scampers 63 yds for the TD on the 1st play from scrimmage.

SJF returns kick-off to their own 28

Knute Rockne used to do that with his Notre Dame teams

Frostburg State and Salisbury University, both from Maryland, have been accepted as associate football members into the Empire 8 starting in 2011. Link on the front page, as I'm at work on a sh!tty computer and can't get to it.

I think that's good for the E8 to expand a bit farther south, especially if the E-8 "superconference" is a no go.

Hey Dew....does their addition occur in time for E8 to preserve its AQ?

Salisbury State is about 425 miles from Mayberry....good for a 7.5 hour trip.
Frostburg State is easier, 301 miles from Saxonville....a 5 hour trip plus some change.

Both are easy trips for Pep, who just completed a 7-theme park 7-day Midwest Tour with Pep Jr. that covered 2700+ miles.  :o

When I first heard the rumor I couldn't help but think wouldn't it have been nice to have Brockport, Cortland and Buff State come in instead!.....travel would have been better and I think some great match ups could be resumed.....like the late 90's early 2000's Brockport vs Ithaca games....

Frostburg has made some strides...but Salisbury is the one to watch.  With the athletes they have and that option offense....they could be very tough in the conference.

What about Moo'ville? Pep is thinking that down the road, when Salisbury and Frostburg settle into their own Capital Athletic Conference for football, perhaps the SUNY schools will bolt the NJAC and join the Empire Conference, making room for Wesley in Jersey. Just thinking happy thoughts. :)

No offense to Springfield, but I'd like to see them out of the E8 to make way for the SUNY Schools...

IC
SJF
UC
HC
AU
Port
Buff
Mo'ville
Cort

Teams would still keep their rivalry games within conference with IC/Cort, IC/SJF, Cort/Port and still have some OOC rivalries with UR/SJF and HC/whatever NEFC team they decide to lose too...

Can't say I agree with this one. Salisbury and FSU are way down in Maryland. Why on earth would they join a conference that is mostly New York schools? Who from MD is gonna want to drive way or fly ??? up to NY for away games? This is about as weird as Boston College in the ACC.

They do it so they can fill out a schedule and know exactly what they have to do to get a playoff spot.....for two years anyway.
