The Boys are Back in Town....AU has some130+ in preseason camp with everyone reporting as expected.

Pep is waiting to hear a final verdict on Merrill Field. Word of the home grandstand's fate will likely be announced at the University's Opening Breakfast on Tuesday. Seems that a temporary fix may be possible. More on that as information becomes available. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Pep looks forward to tomorrow's practice as the team will be in full pads.

Random question...where does the Fisher football team practice while the Bills are on campus? I know they stay in hotels and such off campus for housing, but where do they practice? East Rochester High School maybe? How does the locker room situation work?

'91-I will be there. Let me know the details and I will be sure to stop by.

When I played a short while ago, we mostly practiced at Growney. We very rarely practiced at East Rochester, save for my freshman year when we were bused over there. As far as I know, the Murph across the street has always housed the fall sport athletes while the Bills were on campus. We didn't have lockers until the Bills left, most people just left the uppers in the hallway.

Anybody know if the Season Preview is out?

Thanks for the info. When I was playing soccer at Fisher we stayed in a hotel across town. Now that you mention it, I do think that teams did start staying in Murphy after I had moved off campus.

Mr Snyder!  How do the Saxons look?  Where do they have McCloud playing?  Who are some of the other recruits?  Did they get any transfers?

Let's see they had ~ 120 on the roster in '08 lost 8 seniors have 152 incoming newcomers..

Do they really have ~260 helmets/shoulder pads?  How about 40 footballs.  How do you drill 260 kids even if you break them up into Varsity/JV.  I understand the "stockpiling" of talent in numbers but....

And what is that saying to a player who is thinking about his chances for playing time.

dlippiel thinks it says, "work your ass off or you won't get any PT."

stim do they have a JV team? dlippiel would hope so. dlippiel would also bet if that number is the case there will be many cuts very quickly. Two a days at that camp must be wuite interesting. Probably looks like a swarm of bees all over the place.

He might do it like they did in the old school Ithaca days.  Every freshman gets to play JV and suit up.  After that first year, the coaches evaluate the freshman from the JV team and cut those that aren't good enough their sophmore year.  Those sophmores that were cut get a chance to play on the JV team again if they want to.  Usually they just quit but a few stay on to try again.  Every once in a while a junior will get cut from the team as well.

But this was a time when 4-5 freshman might suit up for a varsity game and those freshmen actually started or played special teams.  And the overall varsity roster was 80 guys?  The JV roster was usually about 60 (55 frosh and 5 sophmores).

I was just thinking though that if you hav 200 guys on your team at a place like Mt. Union, theres probably 40 guys that could start for other teams but dont.  Now MUC basically hijacks them from playing against them!
