BTW...just heard 'word' that the reason for the 4pm start is that MUC has never won a 4pm start....but they have never played a 4pm start.....uhhhh nevermind

Really though....freshman orientation is Saterday and the program has it such that all parents and new students are being encouraged to 'shuffle' right over to the field as sort of the cap to the orientation day.

Additionally....the school did sell 500 season tickets and apparrently have made the red bucket seats as the 'assigned' seats, which means that they are no longer first come first serve.

So all in all, sounds like getting there early is a priority now.

fisheralum91

wow that is great that they sold those seats...
tho that does mean that some of the old guard will be out of their "assigned" seats.

thats ok- i roamed the stadium most of the time anyway.

From scout.com on Matthews:

STRENGTHS
Accuracy / Consistency
Running Ability / Mobility
Touch

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Field Vision

"The first thing that really stands out about Mathews is the touch he has on all his passes. He really feathers the ball into his receiver quite nicely. He has above average arm strength and can thread the needle when he needs to. Whether he is throwing a touch pass or zipping the ball to someone he is very accurate. Another outstanding aspect of his game is his abilities outside the pocket. He can escape pressure and throw on the run."

This was from a write up when he transferred to some Florida Prep school second semester of his Junior year.  He ended up moving back to NY for his senior year though... I guess it's a bit concerning that he can't stick in one place, but on paper he sure looks interesting.

Nice find Tecmo.  Acquinas isn't just "some prep school" either.  It is definitely one of the top 2 or 3 football programs in Florida.

dlippiel is wishing SJF luck this week as they prepare for their opener against MUC. dlippiel hopes SJF not only makes this a game but gives the Purple Raiders all they can handle and maybe more. His hopes are high for the Cardinals and he will respect all of the SJF players for going out and playing their hearts out! Good luck fellas! Have fun and enjoy this great opportunity to play the nations best!

sjfcards

speaking of those bucket seats, this guy has a pair of them waiting for him this Saterday. It comes with a parking pass to the back lot which hopefully makes for some fun time tailgating with some other die hard fans. I am hoping to see a lot of you there this season.
GO FISHER!!!

Because I have hope until at least 4 pm on Sat, I am throwing this out there...

A MUC poster made mention of the lack of a running game for MUC in their W & J scrimmage and how that might translate into a 'close' game this week.  I dismissed such a notion as either gamesmanship by the poster or just plain wrong due to MUC's annual reloading and failure to lose period.

On second thought, look at these stats from last year's week 1 matchup.  You might call it SJF v. Kmic with Kmic winning 33-3 not MUC winning 33-3

Total plays  64 to 64

Passing yrds  MUC 254-231

Turnovers SJF 4 MUC 2

3rd down efficiency SJF 7-15  MUC 6-11

Sacks   even at 3

Time of Poss  SJF 30:10 to 29:50

Total yds MUC 524-249 with the 274 yd difference being Kmic's 243 yds.

Hmmmm.....with so many major stat categories being equal or even in SJF favor, and the only VERY glaring difference being Kmic's yrds, if the MUC poster is correct, we may have a game on Sat.

Of course....that analysis is merely by the numbers and the numbers wont be blocking and tackling on Sat....a team from Alliance with a 33 game win streak will be.

Kmic, I believe, was the reason why MUC beat SJF in 06 as well.  Having pulled within 19-14 late in the 4th and having just missed a tough FG to pull within 2, Kmic tears off a 65 yd run on the next play to seal the game.

Gosh I can only imagine that without his 250 yd average against SJF, SJF has a shot in hell this week ???

SJFF82

WTF....did the recession hit the boards also ???  Thanks to PC and Co., it is still free to 'talk' smack on gameweek....where the hell is everyone?
