I was on the losing end of many Buff St. battles.  They were a different team in the early 1990s and simply got worse as the decade went on.  But two of the best d3 players I have ever seen played at Buff St.  Running back Perez Dinkins and QB Tracy Bacon were great football players.  Im sure bombers798891 remembers them.

And DE Nate Van Ostrand was by far the best defensive player that I have ever personally went up against 1 on 1.  Great player.

And Im not too sure of the size of some of the older teams (1980s), but from what I gather, Ithacas olinemen were never that big, even on the national championship teams.  Buff St. was one of the only teams in the ealy 1990s that had 6'6+ 300 lb+ offensive linemen when most teams still had the 6'0 250 lb linemen.  I know Ithaca ran mesh option during the championship years but they were not that big from what I am told.

Maybe U89 can add some input on d3 size in the 1980s.....

True, our O-lines averaged about 6'0", 250.....I was a right guard and played at 5'11", 240.

Perez Dinkins was a stud. From what I remember, he was an Ithaca High grad. When that 1994 game went into overtime, you just knew he'd get the ball. Someone got through the line and planted him on 2nd down and that sequence set up the missed FG. Just a great back.

I remember Jeff Baker torching IC for like 300 receiving yards one game too.

Those Boyes teams were special. I'm a little suprised their NCAA record wasn't better than it was

Lots of good posts this week about Fisher football. Defintely a lack of a desire on and off the field vs MUC. This being my 4th Fisher, MUC game I thought Fisher would put together a game plan that would be more competitive. Mistakes do happen, good coaching and the ability to make adjustments should of kept this a good match-up. Yes Fisher looked good against the run, but MUC could of put up a seventy if the continued to pass. Even the tight ends were wide open. Hopefully they will be prepared to play this week vs Buff State.

Bombers Football returns to the air on Saturday when #8 Ithaca travels to Union to take on the Flying Dutchmen.
The Dutchmen that fly are down in the MAC at Lebanon Valley FYI.

Good catch JM. Embarrassing mistake on my part. I hope it didn't confuse anyone. #8 Ithaca is playing the Dutchmen of Union tomorrow at 1:00. Countdown to Kickoff starts at 12:30 on 92 WICB (91.7 FM) and online at WICB.org.

I think they can forget about the MUC game.  The real season begins now for them I think.  I think Fisher should handle Buff State pretty handily.   I've been wrong before, however.  Too bad there isn't a Buff State repesentative on the boards to discuss their team.  There actually used to be one.

pg04 : Fix your picks to reflect straight and w/the spread in the NJAC pick-em board.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

They should.  Injuries, however, are not helping matters.

I say it's a rout, at least by 3 touchdowns.  I'd give it 42-17 or something like that.  I think this will be a better gauge of Fisher's talent.  If it's close, there may be trouble in Pittsford!

Forget the X's and O's.  If Fisher does not have an ATTITUDE today and play like they are ticked off Buff State actually traveled up the I-90 to play them, then Fisher could be in for a long season.   They need to have a fire inside that triggers when they step between the lines.    They have the most pure talent that they have had in a while at many positions, and sometimes TALENT IS NOT ENOUGH.  Attitude and desire wins over talent.   Fisher fans want to see a PISSED OFF team today.

Not once in the history of sports has this ever been true.  I don't care how many times ESPN, No Fear, and coaches of JV High School teams repeat it.

If you are not able to make the Buffalo/Fisher game tonight and have to watch it on Time Warner Sports, please turn down the volume on your TV and turn up SportsRadio950 ESPN  or sportsradio950espn.com.....  (if there is a slight delay, and you have a DVR, just pause live action for about 5-8 seconds while the radio catches up and then continue...you'll then be synced up)

While I agree with what you are saying, my message is that if one thinks the pure talent alone is enough on the football field (or any sport for that matter) they are dead wrong.  Talent is never enough is the point that I am trying to make.

Buffalo gave up 329 yards on the ground last week, and I anticipate this type of showing again.   Maybe not 329, but 200+.
