Bailey says that he is ok.   You really won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Back from the game, and I thought Fisher looked good. Fisher had a lot of positives, and the offense has to be at the top of that list. The O line was getting a great push all game, and all of the backs, and the receivers looked good. Bailey was great, I just hope he is alright.

When he went down, he had a pretty signifcant limp, but was walking around like it was not too serious. He did have an ice pack on it, and he was in the trainers tent for a long time. Right before I left he was up and walking around laughing it up with teamates. My guess is that he is fine, but if he is hurt worse than it looks that could be bad news for Fisher.

The defense was very sloppy in pass coverage. The Buff State QB has a big arm, and made some big throws, but the Fisher D made it pretty easy at times. A team like Ithaca or Alfred will probably take more advantage than Buff State did. Having said all of that, they did hold a team that looks like it will be able to score to 7 points, and watch out if you have a field goal or a punt against them. They looked real good on special teams.

All in all a pretty good showing and a positive sign for Fisher. Hopefully Bailey is okay, and they can look forward to next week. It should be a big weekend with U of R coming in.

Special teams were obviously a positive!  Hopefully they continue their effort all year...

The two freshman backs, Short and Zemaitis, make it look like SJF is going to get that powerful running game going in the future again...

The defense looks really aggressive, on several occasions there were 7/8 guys within a yard of the LOS...

The Safety's need to get their act together.  Coming up on way too often for no reason at all.  That's not going to cut it vs AU, IC and HC...

fisheralum91

looks like we are all on the same page about the game.
couple of things that need to be ironed out-----pass defense specifically.
i hope bailey is ok.  He really looked good and from last year to this- his imrovement is obvious.

The safeties will be fine.   Fisher bit on the play fake to start the game, and got burned on it, but hunkered down pretty much the remainder of the game.   Zemaitis has Ze-maitis touch!  Hopefully it continues.   Anthony Short is the perfect ingredient to kick the offense up a notch.   He is tough as nails and makes people miss.  Think Darren Sproles or Leon Washington.   He is exciting to watch.

However... Fisher needs to reign in the penalties. Some of them were lazy and some of them were unacceptable (any personal foul call or even a celebration penatly when you're up 55-7 is unacceptable).  They need to control that because that will not work in conference play.

So what does Ithaca's loss do for the East Region? I know it's early, and Ithaca was unlikely to run the Gauntlet anyway, but, as highly ranked as they were, they were a team that could have kept MUC out of the East. Being #12 wasn't enough last season. And with #17 Hobart and #18 Montclair losing as well, is it up to Cortland now to earn the top seed in the East? Or are we banking on someone coming out of nowhere?

It's frustrating. With the #7 and #4 teams losing, the Bombers could have moved up another spot or two with a solid win. Now, I wonder if I'll have to (sort of) root for the Red Dragons to run the table? Especially since Cortaca's essentially become meaningless for Ithaca as far as playoffs go.

Yeah the celebration penalty was pretty sad considering they were on the opposite end of a 40+ pt loss the week before...

Oh and I'd really like to see Short as a returner.  The kid has amazing quickness.  His first college carry he took 29yds and made about 5 people miss before he got 5 yds past the line...

Bombers I wouldn't get down yet, dlip thinks this loss may just light the fire under Ithaca and they may just run the table for the remainder of 09. Obviously as a region we most likely needed and undefeated, top ten or five team to keep MUC out in the playoffs but dlip still feels that if Ithaca runs the table, and the U continues to role, things may take shape for the bombers. Ithaca lost to a very talented and solid U team yesterday. A team that was clearly underated by the powers that be this year (understandably so because of last years play) and a team that will make some noise in the East here in 09. Can't say enough good things about the class of IC fans and players as well. This team will be fine.

If someone goes undefeated in the East, it will be tough to roll MUC in as a #1.

Well lets hope that someone does this year, because at this point I it feels, to me, like MUC can start planning on being in east in the playoffs. As tough as it is to say, they are just that much better than the teams in the East (and rest of the country). I don't see a team in the East really stepping up and runnning the table. Now that Ithaca has lost, Fisher has a loss, Hobart has a loss, AU has to go to IC and Fisher, it just doesn't seem likely. Union may be able to, but they still have to play Hobart and RPI in a rivalry game. It is going to be tough. The top teams in the East are really close to each other talent wise, and will probably beat up on each other.

Any update on Bailey? I watched the post game show when I got back last night, and he said he was fine, but you never really know.

Union also has Muhlenburg & Salisbury OOC which will be brutally tough games.

Ouch...very true. It is going to be really tough for anyone to run the table this year.

Gonna have to hope for Cortland...they ran the table in the NJAC in 2008...
