Good post Bombers.  +k.

Whenever I think of 'Wick football I only remember the 2002 game at IC because their starting Guard doubled as their place kicker...their barefoot placekicker.

Late in the game, with IC up 19-18, Wick is driving for the winning field goal but has no timeouts left.  They get into range (maybe a 30 or 35 yard attempt) on a completion over the middle with about 10 seconds left and rush their kick team onto the field (because no timeouts and short of the first down so they couldn't spike it).  The game ends with their guard/kicker on one knee desparately wrestling with his shoelace trying to get his shoe and sock off so he could attempt the field goal.  One of the all-time great fat guy moments.

+K That's amazing....Pep doesn't remember ever hearing that. Heck, Pep would have had the back-up PK ready to go! (At least that's what Pep would have claimed at the Monday morning coffee break).

Pep always knows what to do...in hindsight. That's why Pep was "fired" after accumulating a horrible record in his YMCA Biddy Basketball coaching stint.  :-[

Max needs FF advice....

Should he start his traditionally strong PIT defense against his own QB Philip Rivers and RB Darren Sproles? OR Should he start his upstart-strong New Orleans defense against Mark Sanchez and the Jets?

sounds like part of their 2 min. O shoulda been that Guard running it with his shoe already off.

I always wondered why he didn't just kick with his shoe on, just that once.  That would have given them a better chance than Hartwick losing to his shoelace.

On the other hand, the pre-school teacher that tought the guard/kicker how to tie his shoes was probably very proud at that moment.

Yep.... proud that he had learned to do it up tight in only a couple weeks!

Nice...that's better than the smiting the 1998 team laid on them in the ECAC's...

Don't worry guys, Im still here!!!  I havent forgotten about the E8 Post Patterns but I recently bought a little Foxhound named Butch that is consuming most of my time!

Congrads goes out to the 4-0 Saxons and a great day for Vince against the stingy Springfield defense.  Good to see Manz and Tommy are still breaking records and hopefully breaking the AU playoff drought.

Looks like the E8 could be painted purple and gold?   ;)   It would be nice! But im not gonna start that debate until things start to pan out and some very crucial E8 games are played!

Not putting on the pads for the first time I was 6 is tough!  I still wake up on SatERdays ready to go!  But I'm just glad the E8 is once again full of life and great football.  Cheers to all squads involved, its nice to be able to show some pride and support for the players.  I know that I appreciated it when I played the last 4 years and I know the guys appreciate it now.  So thank you to the fans on this board, I now can show my pride and post with you guys.... Unless I get that call for next years draft, in which I will probably hold out for more money anyways.  NFL 2012, here I come!

The next three weeks will tell us a lot about this team. dlip is very interested to see how Ithaca deals with them. If they beat Ithaca and they are competitive or possibly beat Alfred then we will know exactly how good Wick is. Yet having to come back against Salve to get the W makes dlip very weary, as well as their past struggles against  teams that were supposed to be inferior competition. dlip is not trying to be a dick here at all but isn't surprised an SJF fan is giving credit to Wick. dlip guesses if he was an SJF fan he would need to respect Wick as well because of the recent past (07, 08).

agree ... and lack of performance in the post season is understood.  I thought they would be down ths year with the loss of Bolus and company... Im happy they are 4 and 0 but by no means do i think they are deserving of some special praise

QuoteI mean, who has Hartwick played this season? Since when does beating Norwich, Becker, Salve Regina and Morrisville State count as an impressive slate of opponents? None of those teams are any good, so why should Hartwick's 4-0 record mean anything?

Hartwick's record means ****! Hence the reason they get no ERP consideration from most and absolutely no love on a national level. They had christ as a QB for four years and still lost to Brockport ST last year in the ECAC's when Boltus was a senior. Wick's record is meaningless in regards to the region until they beat anyone of remote substance. Now if they go ahead and beat SJF again then they will definitely deserve a look (not saying SJF is all that good either). Now here is a team dlip wished would toughen up their schedule and make a move to take the program to the next level. They almost always have decent QB's and some skill players but that means nothing when your D gives up over 60 points on multiple occasions during a season. dlip has always liked Wick but just feels with that schedule and their past, they should never even be looked at until they completely force one to look at them.

I think thats pretty much how it goes?  Most people complain about a weak schedule and Hartwick wont get any credit until they beat Ithaca or Fisher (recent years Fisher) or both... and even when they do that most people on here act like its a fluke instead of giving them credit... its no secret

I can't speak for Wick/Fisher, but as far as Wick/IC goes...

2004- IC goes up 23-0 in the opening 20 minutes and cruises to a 47-8 win
2005- IC goes up 38-7 after 25 minutes and still leads by 31 heading into the 4th
2006- IC up 21-0 at the half and 34-7 heading into the 4th
2008- IC gets up 27-7 in the first quarter, Hartwick rallies, still manages to trail by 27 heading into the 4th quarter

They beat Ithaca one time, by two points...they're 1-7 against IC since they restarted the program, and 2007 was the only time in the last five years Ithaca hadn't jumped all over them from the get go. If you want to cling to one win and cry about not getting respect from IC, that's fine, but winning more than once every decade or so might help with that problem. So would entering the 4th quarter down by fewer than 25 points.

Am I saying Ithaca's unbeatable against Hartwick? No. I'm simply pointing out that the Wick's recent games against IC haven't exactly shown the Hawks in their best light. I don't think 2007 was a fluke, but it does stand out in the crowd a bit from recent years, no?

I would have the same reaction to an IC fan complaining about a lack of respect from Fisher. IC's gone 1-4 against them in the last five years, so in my mind, Fisher's earned the right to be the favorite in that game. Respect isn't something you get once and then you have a lifetime pass. If the Wick starts beating Ithaca more consistently, they'll get that respect

i dont think anyone said they should be a favorite vs IC?  There was two great games back to back in either 01 and 02 or 03 and 04 19 -18 both years IC over wick

Yeah, I kind of felt bad for the Wick heading into that game. They had no shot. You could have teleported Boltus back to that game and you'd have still lost by 30.

Anyway, I'm fully prepared to eat the crow if the Wick pulls it off, don't get me wrong. I'm just not convinced this is the team to do it.  But Ithaca's screwed the pooch before, so I put nothing past them
