For one, it's that time of year...and two, because I know it will piss off the Fisher faithful...

In any event, this will officially be the second time I will actually be rooting hard for SJF (the first was against Alfred in the last game of the year in 2007).  I am not going to lie to you...it feels wrong...really wrong...like I imagine how a new convict feels after his first date in the Penn feels wrong...

Well someone had to do it I guess. This game is the big one in my house. I am a Fisher Alum, but my wife is an IC alum, and this game will pretty much decide how my marriage goes for the next several weeks. The last couple of years have been great because I can always say how my team beat hers when I am working through the list of tasks she gives me. I can't wait. Every year, we have a big tailgate, we go to the game, and 4 of the last 5 years it has ended well for the men in the family. Ooooh just a few more games.

dlip is pulling for IC for a couple of reasons:

-Grastorf is a graduate of Niskayuna high school dlips alum
-Grastorfs father was the AD when dlip was playing hockey/lax in High school and suspended dlip on two occasions for acting like an asshole. He should have thrown dlip off both teams but he was a very nice man who always would listen to what you had to say. Needless to say Mr. Grastorf set a great example for dlip and is one of the reasons he became a teacher.
-Ithaca win makes Union look good
-dlip feels Ithaca is rated way to high in the d3.poll and dlip feels with a loss another east region team may drop from the poll
-dlip guesses thats it. He respects both programs and usually pulls for SJF but this year feels Ithaca will be better off with the W.

Considering dlip was pulling for Springfield over Alfred, I'd say that the Fisher faithful can feel rather confident going into this game!
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

ouch that did stir the pot.
i really havent heard any chatter about the game this week.
i for one am a lot worried about fishers health issues.
i hope the bye has helped them recover- but they really need to come out loaded for bear when this game kicks off
tired of them coming out flat--or worse- getting hot mid way through the game and letting another team catch/surpass them

You meant days....right?  Otherwise....looks like this one might pass you by.

So if 82 were to find a place to store his 4 kids this Friday night and Sat. afternoon, where would he take Mrs. 82 for some dinner and overnight accomodations in the Ithaca region...say within a 30 mile radius.

If you are looking at Ithaca...go with the Mohagany Grill (sp), which is right down in the Ithaca Commons.  Great crab cakes.  If you are venturing out further, there are two restaurants in Horseheads (25 mins down Route 13) right off the highway that are great.  Louie's or Tanino's...both of which are right in Hanover Square.  Hotel's...I would go with the Hampton Inn on the south side of Ithaca.

Stay away from Cortland...they have nothing but burger and fry joints...and the place reeks of sweat, sex, and shame...

I always like Simeons on the commons for dinner, but they may have been more for the beer selection.  You also have that Farmhouse on Rte 89 across from Taughannok St Park, the name of which escapes me.  The food is also pretty good at that waterfront bar/restaraunt near the Cornell boathouse (before you hit 89/96 coming from Rte 79).

Cortland is all about the beer and sex, but from the few times partying there back in my college days, I didn't meet many girls who had any shame.

If you ever met even one, that would be a first in history...

there are two nice hotels right downtown both of which are walking distance to the Commons and the restaurants and bars.

If you want the white tablecloth, check out John Thomas steak house.  Right up the hill from IC: http://www.johnthomassteakhouse.net/

You can also check out the Boatyard Grill down on the channel.  I think that serves as a mid-level restaurant in Ithaca now.

Careful on the Boatyard...they don't accept reservations and the wait times can be kind of long, especially if you go around 6 or 7. It's a great place; just don't go expecting to be seated right away. Also, Madeline's on the Commons has awesome desserts if you wish to indulge.

Thanks gents! We are definately going to the game....just a matter of whether we can make it Fri. night.  I'll let you know how the recommendations worked out if we make it.

Agreed, Madeline's is definitely the choice for after dinner, whether you want dessert or cocktails.

Another name I'd throw in the hat for dinner would be the Lost Dog.

And I've heard nothing but good things, but I've never had a real good meal at the Boatyard....
