It's been great reading this! dlip loves when the E8 board starts talking ****! Honestly it will probably be better for the East and E8 as a whole for Alfred to win the game. Like many have said we know the results of SJF vs solid OOC teams, with Alfred you still have a bit of an unknown that if they run the table could earn the East a #1 seed and keep MUC the **** out! Who knows dlip is torn on this one. There is something he likes about SJF he just can't put a finger on it. No question though that the classiest posters on this entire site come from Alfred. Who the **** knows??? dlip hoping for a new game. **** both teams are lucky Girardi isn't the coach. He would change ****in QB's every down of every possession throughout the entire game. Dick!

Here are the results in play-offs only:

SJF is 7-4 against OOC competition in the play-offs (including 3 ECAC contests against Cortland, RPI and Husson) since 2003  Did not use 1 additional play-off contest that was against conference foe Springfield.

They compiled that record by an average score of 27-19 against the likes of Rowan, Union, Cortland, MUC, Muhlenberg, Del Val, etc...

I would be proud to have them represent the East again, if they earn it of course by running the table.

I think you're missing the point dude, we're talking about this year only. This year they are 0-2 vs. solid OOC teams. Alfred is 0-0.... which is no better, but there is certainly potential there.

Do you have any reason to believe they'd perform better against Salisbury or MUC in November?

Salisbury yes, MUC no...

Salisbury was a complete cluster-****...

Injuries, mistakes and Salisbury's ability to capitalize on those mistakes got the best of them during the 2nd half...

Salisbury scored with under 30 seconds left to go up by 18, I think it would be a much closer contest now...

Love ya Upstate but no way. He said she said ****, SJF got vibrated by a mediocore Salisbury team. SJF had their chance to win the game and got homogonized like ****in milk. dlip could look back at Muhlenburg for the Dutch and be like...wellllll we could have....or if we played them now.... No way, a **** ass Mules team beat the Dutch period just like a mediocore off year team like the Gulls beat SJF. nothing else to discuss.

I hear you Dlip but would you not agree that teams at times lose games to a team you know they are better than?  Like when Ithaca lost to Curry last year in the playoffs, a team they should have beat by at least three scores...It happens.  It was a close game even into the 4th quarter despite Fisher repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot, and Salisbury pulled away at the very end.  I'm not arguing Fisher should have won the game, they played like crap and deserved to lose, but I also wouldn't argue Salisbury is the better team which is what it seems people are suggesting.

Understood and well said booby. dlip hears what Upstate was saying as well and there is a lot of truth to it. Salisbury may indeed be better than they are getting credit for as well. Yet dlip would have to say, for the most part, when one team beats another, unless you have key injuries (a great debate we have been through before here), the winner should be viewed as the better team head to head. Obviously there are exceptions but sometimes it comes down to bragging rights and straight up ****in playground ****. Teams talk ****, they play, the winner gets the last laugh and the nod as the better team.

Another great around the East Column, but line about giving Zemaitis a nickname is particularly intriguing to me. Could be a lot of fun thinking about that one.

Funny.  That is the same nickname I gave his distant cousin Allen that played corner at Penn State and was a total bust for the Bucs because he couldn't cover or tackle.

6yds a carry and 12 TDs as a freshman is overrated?

Jose I truly don't know if you are joking or not so forgive me if you are, but Allen is his brother not distant cousin...

You know, I really don't think so.  Perhaps that's where lies the difference between a program who has been threre before, to one who has a quick pop for a few years because they're hoping T.O. will give them his cleats.

I'm happy your Freshman had two good games against a horrendous tackling IC defense, and mighty Utica.  Getting giddy over the opportunity to give a guy a nickname who has played a few good quarters though, comparing him to Robinson who was a stud for years... it just smells a stench of folks who come and go... the Brockport folks would get all jazzed up after a game or two as well.  Maybe you guys can reminisce together about the good old days in a few years.

Point to me where I said SJF would have won...

Also I would like to start a motion that would replace the four star words **** with the letters DLIP on the language filter...

I second this motion. It would be HI-larious.

Stopped taking anything serious after you said that...

You guys were all jizzing your pants with Donovan...

He turned out to have a disappointing career after his much ballyhooed initial campaign as a Bomber...

Besides IC coaches were the ones who were saying he was better than Robby, I just said he could have a Robinson like career...

I'll do you one better Upstate, some of the Ithaca posters were spouting off about Bergerstock when he burst onto the scene last year and had some big games...Also I still have trouble correlating how fans enthusiasm over new talent translates in any way towards future success of an actual football program.  As if what we say or think has any tangible effect.

Jamie Donovan was banged up a lot after his freshman season. Certainly, that affected his production. Injuries are part of the game, so no-one's making excuses, but it's not like he was a terrible player after that. He was limited by the overall number of carries he had, but here was his career if you remove his Freshman season

32 games, 527 carries, 2,620 yards, 5.0 YPC, 29 TD's

What a total disgrace that was.

Remember, he had another back to deal with, and in that same time frame (2005-2007), Alex Baez put up a line of:

31 games, 324 carries, 1,964 yards 6.1 YPC, 13 TD

Donovan was never the "feature" back after 2004. Granted, some of that was because he wasn't healthy, but a look at Baez's numbers show it wasn't like Donovan was competing with a nobody. Baez was a completely different back that gave the Bombers a different look. And frankly, Baez was too good to not see the field.

Over a three-year span, Baez and Donovan averaged 1,530 Yards and 5.4 yards per carry. The fact that they split carries kind of diminished the impact of each one, but they were pretty great as a tandem.

This Zemantis kid looks pretty special, but if we learned anything from Donovan, it's that career paths can change. There's no harm in Fisher fans being excited about him, but there's something to be said for caution as well

Bergerstock was a product of his offensive line last season. Those guys are gone now and the running game has gone in the toilet this season.

theoriginalupstate

Bombers, I never said he was a disgrace.  I said he was a disappointment compared to the amount of praise and expectations that followed his initial campaign.

He was a good back, no question about it.  However the way the Bomber faithful reacted to his first season people would have though he was the second coming of RJ Bowers...
